Welbeck and Evans had fairly decent loan stints at Sunderland.
Oh yeah, successful loan spells. Like so many others before.
There's Beckham, and, er...
Beside Welbeck and Evans, I don't think Cleverley at Wigan was a horrible loan spell, it was just that he was never United quality. Give Andreas that same opportunity and see what he can do.
Look what LVG has done to him.
Look what LVG has done to him.
While Manchester United were being bullied by West Ham at the Boleyn Ground, Andreas Pereira was swanning around Gigg Lane for the Under-21s against Bury.
Pereira struck twice in the United youngsters' 4-1 Manchester Senior Cup semi-final against the Shakers on another night he demonstrated how U21 football is beneath him.
The Brazilian has not featured in a United matchday squad since the 3-2 win over Arsenal in February and three days later, untried midfielder Joe Rothwell was included in the 18-man party to face Watford ahead of Pereira.
Even Adnan Januzaj, uninterested during the U21s' win at Chelsea on Friday night, reappeared for the first-team at West Ham on Tuesday.
Pereira could have sulked during his prolonged stint with the U21s but instead he has racked up a set of stats that are as ridiculous as Louis van Gaal's decision not to give him a chance in the first-team.
The 20-year-old has made 12 starts and one substitute appearance at U21 level this campaign, scoring eight goals and providing seven assists. The figures are so impressive Pereira is contributing to a goal every 75 minutes.
Named the U21 Player of the Year for last season, Pereira's stats make a mockery of Van Gaal's stance. Even at last week's Player of the Year awards, Pereira - who has made 11 senior appearances this term - had to wear his club suit instead of a black tie, which the first-team squad was permitted to wear.
Jesse Lingard's juvenile antics in his infamous bus video will also raise questions about Van Gaal's fairness, since Pereira is said to have been demoted to the U21s on account of his immaturity.
Pereira has started just two games this season, despite an auspicious pre-season in the United States, and last lined up for United in October's League Cup defeat to Middlesbrough.
The former PSV Eindhoven youth teamer suggested in January he needed to leave on loan.
Asked if he could leave on loan, Pereira said: “Normally, yes so we will see what happens.
“I want to stay here, of course, but you never know. We will see."
Pereira is expected to represent Brazil at the Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, as the Seleçãoattempt to finally clinch an elusive gold medal that has eluded them for decades.
Brazil have claimed three silver medals and two bronzes since the 1984 Games in Los Angeles.

All this talk about Van Gaal being the saviour of our youth (a point thrown against Mourinho by many on here) and this is how he treats perhaps our most gifted youngster (apart from Martial who is basically carrying the first team so not including him in this youth list).
He does not fit philosophy. Besides it makes sense to play Pereira so van Gaal is absolutely delighted to be able to make an incredibly brave decision of not playing him, it makes him look extra-ordinary. He's been like that forever.
That's the sense you get from his decisions, isn't it?
He does things out of the ordinary so people would praise his genius if it comes off.
He's the that guy in Sunday league football who would ignore you when you're open, opting instead for a no look pass to the guy a long distance away from him.
I think so too. So while Rashford and to a certain extent CBJ have done well with the chances, he has picked players from the academy who weren't really thought about as first team material. McNair, Blackett, Love, Varela, Lingard.. So it's not really genius. He is a narcissist who only thinks of his personal glory. Why would we want a man like him in charge?I really think that the reason why Pereira, Wilson and especially Januzaj haven't been played under LVG is because they were already mentioned as big prospects, and so probably LVG wouldn't get the merit on them (especially on the last one) cause everyone knew about them before.
I'd be beyond livid if that were true, one of our most talented academy graduates treated like this. Why not just give him the loan he so badly needed? Wouldn't at all blame him for wanting to leave in summer if LvG stays.
