He needs to be feckin investigated with the amount of money this Cnut has cost us with his unbelievable levels of shiteness. If he’s not replaced as number 1 priority then I honestly just can’t be bothered anymore.

Feel a bit sorry for him.

He is after all a human with feelings even if he is a rubbish goalkeeper.

Felt he was nervous all game.

But he put himself in the spot light given his comments.

If Onana had a bad game without the comments beforehand it would have been criticism until the next average game he has and fans would have moved on.

He made his bed, unfortunately he had a nightmare laying in it.

Never seen it with him, even at Ajax never stood out as someone to keep an eye on for instance.

It's a bad state of affairs when a keeper is bad a shot-stopping. It's not mistakes that Onana makes that is the issue, it's his reflective ability when parrying the ball. It's not something that's going to improve as those are subconscious decisions he's making so I don't think it can be drilled out of him by a goalkeeping coach.

The club need to get rid of him ASAP.
One thing I've noticed on slow motion replays is when he faces tame shots that he knows he should be saving comfortably, he actively tries to push the ball away rather than being satisfied to get his hands on it. Not a problem if you actually push it away. But he's so focused on trying to push the ball he forgets to actually save it.

That's what happens on the first goal we conceded today, he could just tip the ball wide but because he had enough time he made huge motion to push the ball away and completely misjudged the ball and it's sneaked through. It's not the first time he's made that type of howler.

Then you have shots that are fizzed at him with more power and he has hard hands and it just bounces off him straight into the danger zone, he has no ability to soften his hands to keep the ball close to him, or the reaction times to steer the ball away from danger zones.

And then you have goals we concede that he has to dive for and his reaction times are just not good enough, these often do not look like howlers but there's always a question if a better keeper could have got a hand to it.

Just an overall poor shot stopper.

This, all day.

Few examples

- Harvey Elliots FA Cup goal at OT last season
- Liverpool again, Salahs first or 2nd in the 0-3 at the start of this season.
- Elanga's goal last week, it's about 3 yards inside the post. He doesn't move towards the ball when he dives!

You all cried asking for a keeper that was “good with his feet”, and what matters in a keeper is actually how he saves! You got what you wanted. Enjoy it ‍♂️

He’s not even good with his feet though is he. In fact he’s fecking terrible. Takes an age to make a single pass, and when he eventually does decide to make one, after the opposition are all fully back into shape, it inevitably goes out of play anyway.

As shit as Onana is, he wasn't wrong either. We are clearly a better team. They had to rely on 2 goalkeeping errors to scratch together a draw at home.

Do you think you were waaay better than OL?

Isn't that a copy of the goal that Ziyech scored against us ..
Bounce the ball in front of him.. he will concede

I've backed him in the past said the usual bs give him time etc.

Well he has had his time now until end of season I'd stick Alty, in net and bench then faze out Onana. Like a lot people have said I'm nervous every game now kinda like I was with Slabhead and he turned it around. What am I saying? Get rid of em both!

Not easy to bin a keeper that costed 50M€ and is probably earning massive wages

Barthez was a world cup winner and the most expensive keeper in the world when United bought him, didn't stop Fergie from dumping him.
Taibi wasn't cheap when he was bought, he lasted 4 games
Howard had named on the PFA team of the year, when his United career was basically over after a blunder knocked United out of the CL
do i need to bring up Jim Leighton (who I believe was the most expensive keeper signed by United at the time)

Mistakes are one thing, persisting with them is another

I expect him to make mistakes on a consistent basis. That’s how crap he is. Been saying for absolutely ages that he’s a liability. Should be dropped till he’s sold.

And Onana absolutely is the worst first choice (hard to truly judge the backups) GK I’ve seen at United. It isn’t remotely close either. He’s a mistake machine.

Everyone is like "We need a striker in summer. Our top priority"
And Onana is like "Na, na na!!!!"

I remember even our reserve goalies in the past were much better than this. raimnd van der gough, tim howard, ben foster, sergio romero.

He's good most of the time but theres too many howlers. Every keeper has them but they're just too frequent with Onana.

No - an initial €51m (£43.8m), plus €4m (£3.4m) in potential add-ons, a year after we could have bought him for nothing.

And then we went ahead to spend £55m on Mount whom we could have gotten for free in 6 Months. The way we've been ran in the last decade is nothing short of criminal.

What a complete weapon. As soon as he made those unnecessary comments you just knew he was teeing us up for one of his all time special performances where he single handedly undermines everything good we do in defence.

As generally decent as he is, he’s also predictably error strewn. I’m all against knee jerk reactions but this is the Onana playbook by now. It’s just happened to many times to ignore and it’s nearly always in circumstances where the outcomes really affect the team. Whether it’s points in the league or cup progress. I’m not sure Bayindir is that good either but if he’s just okay but very reliable, that’s an upgrade.

Amorim must be tearing his hair out tonight. That should be a comfortable 2-0 away win in Europe.

Caf posters all season: "United is too much of a commercial club nowadays. Onana is shit."

Matic the other day: "United is too much of a commercial club nowadays. Onana is shit."

Caf reaction, for some reason:
Standard Caf reaction. Onana is shit and I’m glad he’s being called out for it now. Other players who are not shit have had worse media reaction in our history. This clown seems to get a pass despite so many fecking mistakes.

Except Onana is not good with his feet. It was just a terrible signing overall. Regardless, De Gea needed to be gotten rid of and that was the correct decision.

Onana's mistakes though huge was not avoidable for most keepers. It would take a top notch keeper who is constantly alert to make the two saves.

United was still the better side since Lyon relied on minor errors to score.

I still can't understand how he can keep letting goals like that first Lyon goal in - Those crossed free kicks or corners that goes in to the far post. If it happens once, you can call it a fluke. But how many has he let those in? 4 or 5 at least.

That is the very basic fundamentals of goalkeeping ffs. How can an elite professional not be able to achieve that? Just don't get it.

A comfortable 2-0 win away without keeper’s errors would suggest yes. Alas…
But that's not the reality of the situation at all. We almost never comfortably win any game regardless of keeper errors or not. Only a fool would suggest we're way better than Lyon

Roy Carroll was a better first choice goalkeeper.
Now that’s too much.

The thing is our past shit keepers cost barely anything (maybe bar Barthez), Onana is expensive and shit.

I was poo-pooed away when I thought €50m was a really unnecessary expenditure when the GK we had just won the golden glove. Utd historically have always had issue with replacing keepers so we should’ve extended De Gea on a reduced deal for 2-3 years and look for younger, cheaper options we can develop/discard with little repercussions, while addressing the needs elsewhere in the squad as we rebuild. Everybody agreed that David was past his best and needed replacing, but the way we went about it was the worst possible, Onana had an impressive CL campaign but the risk was still too big, and we are seeing it.

I don’t think there’s much wrong with bigging yourself up before an European tie, when we hosted Pep’s Bayern during the Moyes season, during all the turmoils, Giggs said in the pre game presser that we didn’t fear anyone at Old Trafford, when asked by a journalist. We went on to lose like 0-3 or 1-3, but that’s still the correct mentality.

And on the balance, we were quite clearly the better team last night, it’s just a shame our keeper couldn’t keep to his end of the bargain.

There is a time and a place for flexing, and it's not when sat 14th in the league with a keeper who is error prone, and an attack that can't score. It just looks embarrassing because inevitably the outcome won't be a convincing win, which once again has been the case
