This is also true, and this problematic.
Like this isn't a Lindegaard/De Gea situation where there was a genuine possibility Lindegaard was gonna be the chosen guy. Both of these are back-up keepers at best. I also found this link quite funny as I looked up Lindegaard from Man Utd's site.

"Lindegaard predicts big season for Onana"

Got that right.

Once a keeper has made a lot of errors, there's really no turning it around. Onana is done now, there is just no chance of him becoming reliable and trustworthy enough and it's the one position you must have both qualities.

Good that he's dropped but Bayindir is just another terrible Ten Hag signing that replaces him.

Literally MOTM in his last appearance but ok.

Onana has had MotM performances, every keeper can have a good game now and again.

Unfortunately from the little we have seen of Bayindir for the most part is that he does look shaky, especially some of the stuff we have seen from before we signed him.

The one thing that gives me something like hope for Bayindir is that he seemingly got better and more solid the more he played. Maybe his shakiness was down to rust and or nerves

This "rest and disconnect" should continue beyond today's game at Newcastle...ideally, he will never wear the United shirt again.

People getting there hopes up here and imagine Amorim says in the post match presser that Onana will start against Lyon.

He's one of the worst signings we've ever made. Just useless at every possible facet of the game.

Hopefully this is the first step of somehow getting rid of him.

ETH's signings here were criminally bad. They've set the club back so badly.
Agreed. We could have kept de gea and we would given ourselves time to bring in a younger successor to him who is the real deal.

The scouts and people who signed off on slot of the ETH should be fired. So many awful decisions.

Bayindir has played less than 10 games for us, yet he's not good enough. Onana plays every game, makes an incredibly bad mistake every other game, yet he's still defended.

What's happening here?

One being not good enough has no implication on the other being good enough whatsoever

Yeah this doesn't look good to me. I think Onana had to be in the starting lineup. He's an experienced professional and a £55m signing, what's with the kid gloves.
Kid gloves? He's been dropped for being shit. Probably for being shit and cocky. His transfer price and experience mean nothing given that.

At one point we had De Gea, Romero and Henderson (all 3 still active). Literally any of 3 gks could do their job as no1 choice.

Your logic is flawed. If we are basing judgement on the sample size of performances at the club then I think we have seen enough of Onana to deduce that he is definitely a shocking goalkeeper. Bayindir is still subjective based on the sample size of chances at a club that seems to give infinite chances to incompetent footballers (Shaw, Maguire, Phil Jones, Onana etc)

Because he's not good enough

Literally who cares if he is another Ten Hag signing. The only fact right now is that Onana should not be playing. Defensively we have improved a great deal in the last 2 months and if it was not for terrible goalkeeping, we may have picked up a few more points. All Bayinder needs to do is not make 2 goal errors a game and he will be fine until the end of the season. I'm sure signing a new goalie is top priority but unfortunately in the present, you must make do with what you have. Verdict is still out on Bayinder, personally I think he may surprise a few people. I think his mind is more stronger than Onana and we need someone like that now. I'd just like for him to keep distribution simple, we don't have a goalie or the outfield players to truly play out from the back right now.

I don’t want to make an issue out of it, but I think this is poor management.

Not so much on the Onana side, but Bayindir is being thrown in at the deep end when he could’ve been eased in after his injury like he deserved.

Unless of course this is all coincidental and Onana is out for other reasons..
How is it poor management? Onana cost us the game against Lyon and Amorim as dropped him for this game so he’s aware he needs to up his performances and isn’t given game time just because he was bought for so much.

How to do ‘ease a keeper in’? Amorim is dealing with this fine.
The plan looks to be to bring him back on Thursday regardless, that's how I read it. Hopefully he's just giving that impression to avoid making Onana look like the hopeless case he is, and Bayindir gets a real opportunity to claim the position until the end of the season. Don't want to see Onana in a United shirt again.

I think that’s the media narrative to reduce pressure on everyone. If Bayindir plays well he has to play against Lyon.

It does amaze me the money we've spent over the years and we have to choose between Bayinder/Onana and Hojlund/Zirzkee in arguably the 2 most important positions on the pitch. I'd love to see a top goalkeeper and striker signed in the summer.

His wife being robbed is horrible and may indeed contribute to him currently being in a bad headspace.

But from a strictly football POV, we haven't seen anything from Onana that we haven't seen in previous weeks he's been here, so I doubt it impacted his performance.

Would rather play Hojlund in goal and put Onana up front than have either play in their natural positions.

Remember when our second, and even third choice, keeper would walk into most team's starting line up? We've fallen so far.

Exactly. God forbid we give a new signing a few games to settle before deciding he’s shite.
"New signing"? Bayindir has been at the club for almost two whole seasons. If he's not "settled" by now, he never will be. What's telling is that neither Ten Hag nor Amorim have trusted him enough to give him even a single league appearance before now, despite Onana's erratic form. And in many ways that's fine. He was signed as a cheap backup keeper. A body to sit on the bench because the only other option was 83 year old Tom Heaton. There's no reason to have unrealistic expectations of him based on half a decent game against Arsenal.

Yeah sadly these mistakes he's been making are nothing new. If anything, its more surprising when he has a good match without any mistakes.

Well, he’ll be back on the team sheet against Lyon. I hope Bayindir has a blinder and stakes his claim against Newcastle.

He isn't a good goalkeeper because his technique is off and he isn't athletic and fast enough.

He needs to be sold this summer. Absolutely has to be moved on.
