Television Andor (Star Wars series) - Disney+

The focus on building up the characters shows Disney what they could do with all other Star Wars shows and films. I re-watched Rogue One the other week.

I was a bit confused by the ending, does that mean only two of the prisoners made it to land or am I reading into it too much.

Not really important I don't think, but when we see them they are well in land with search aircraft in the distance. So you can assume they split up and went their separate ways to increase their chances.

“I have sacrificed everything for the rebellion! I even live in comfort on coruscant and rub elbows with powerful people in the senate. I also don’t put myself in any immediate danger. I do all of this for the rebellion, a rebellion that I let others do the dirty work for” what a passionate plea for others to betray a benevolent empire

The darth maul ship is epic. Where did that technology go in future star wars!? I thought this was the last episode but clearly there's another assuming the gang get back together or something.

It is a testament to how good the show is that even the goofy dual light-saber ship just had me smiling.

I only recently realized The Waif from GoT was in this as Vel. She cleans up nice.

Disney will air the first 2 episodes next week on most of its networks to get more eyes on it. They should do the first 3 though 2 will leave people unsatisfied I think.

ABC: Wednesday November 23, 9-10:30 pm ET/PT

FX: Thursday, November 24, 9-10:30 pm ET/PT

Freeform: Friday, November 25, 9-10:30 pm ET/PT

Hulu: Available from November 23 through December 7

Really hope all Star Wars stuff is this good going forward. Everything about it is awesome. Hope the weird incel nazi dude has a bit more to do in the finale. I like him :wenger:

Aye strange choice. You need the 3rd episode for it to spark into life.

Needs a rewatch tonight - missed some of the dialog keeping an eye on something else.

Ok I thought this was going to be another nostalgia cash grab but it’s actually quite good isn’t it. I like how it is just set in the Star Wars universe but doesn’t pander at all to that kind of viewer. It’s its own show.

Just reading through the thread. No idea how Spoony came to the conclusion that it’s style over substance (about 7 or 8 times btw). It has way more substance than most of the shows out there these days. The dialogue and characters are so much more grounded and you’re given time to get to know them which makes inevitable conclusions have better pay offs. ‘Slow burners’ are always better imo.

I like it but I've not found it particularly compelling. It looks great, especially the prison scenes. I've started The Old Man, which I'm enjoying. And I love slow burners, Sol.

I think ROP is the best example of a show prioritising aesthetics over substance. This manages both very well imo.

I'm not sure ROP is more stylish. This looks brilliant, especially the retro 70s Star Wars look, the prison nailed it. I thought Mando was sexy and all, especially the episode that paid homage to Kurosawa.

This show is fantastic and I'm sad that this thread is only 5 pages long. Some superb dialogue, especially.

Finding the show decent, despite that the first few episodes were boring.

It is nowhere near Mando’s quality though.

It's a brilliant show - good writing, strong characters and some great performances.

It's probably done more to flesh out the Star Wars universe then everything else in the last decade combined.

The show lacks a certain SW feel that Mando has. I would agree with that, but I would not use the word quality to discribe what it's missing.

I can't wait for tomorrow's episode. I've been dodging spoilers all week because I know the press have already seen it.

Depends, what you think SW should be. There will be purists that think the Jedi should always feature in Star Wars, but given the scope of material at offer in Star Wars IP I don't think you need them personally.

The Rebellion and the Empire are just as important as the Jedi in my opinion and I think they've really excelled in it's portrayal of both so far.

Agree with this - it's just a different part of the overall story and one which needs telling. It's been superb.

Yeah.

Only quip about the season is that not much was made of the prison escape.

2 years is going to be a long wait for the second season.

I guess the Empire were busy with the rebel trap and then trying to capture Andor to give a real damn about the Prison escape. But agreed, probably should have had at least some kind of throwaway comment.

2 years is a very long wait, hopefully they can get it done a bit sooner.

Wow what a finale. The funeral march and speech gave me goosebumps. The buildup was perfect. I like how consistent the quality stayed throughout.

In a comparison with other Star Wars shows I mean this is so different from Mandalorian I think they are both top tier quality. In completely different ways they are almost different genre shows that happen to be in the same universe.

Thought it was excellent. As close to perfection as i can imagine for a star wars show.

Brilliant finale and a terrific season. The writing was really good throughout with some excellent speeches. They nailed the darker tone & tension to show the sacrifices required to ultimately defeat an evil force.

Probably my favourite Star Wars/MCU release on Disney+ so far.
