George Owen
LEAVE THE SFW THREAD ALONE!!1!
He was so good in his Gremio days... i really wanted him to succeed with us, but you cant always get what you want right?
I wish him luck in his next team.

Ah Fergie played him out of position, thats why he was shite and overweight most of the time
Not every central midfield player needs to be great defensively. You always got the impression that Anderson was encouraged to attack and be a more box to box CM anyway. He just wasn't very good at finishing, or creating chances, and any 'quality' attacking midfielder would surely need to excel in at least one of those.
If only we tried him at left back he might have been a success.
He was more effective up top but didn't look out of place in the middle so impressed at both imo.
Just watched te 2007/08 DVD with my old man. Amazing how many big games Anderson played in during his first season. We sit back and look at the transfer fee now and it doesn't look good but considering we won the double and he was a pretty key part in that success, I can deal with it a lot better.
He played in massive games both in the league and in Europe.
If you measure that spread, between expectation and actual performance, and factor in how long he stuck around for, not delivering, it has to be one of the biggest cases of underachievement I can think of among our signings in my lifetime. But that says a lot more about my ludicrous expectations of him in the first couple of seasons than anything else.
His first game was as a lone striker against Sunderland wasn't it? Or am I just imagining it?
Christ, I remember that day we signed him and Nani. Easily the most exciting of transfer muppet days that I've experienced as a United supporter. Having seen him being linked with Chelsea and labelled the 'next Ronaldinho' I was very excited about this one. Shame how it worked out.
I thought he came on vs Wigan and was absolutely sensational, if memory serves? A 4-0 win, no? Or maybe he started?
I thought he was absolutely excellent in his first season, I was so excited about him and only part of it was down to how cool he looked and the fact he was Brazilian, he really looked the part. I remember getting the impression he was a real trier as well, which was a great combination to have: real ability with the ball but a fantastic work ethic as well. I remember lots of "who do you prefer, Anderson or Nani?" threads back then and for me it was Anderson all the way, less of a show-pony but more dedicated, while also being the solution to an emerging midfield problem that I had no idea was set to deteriorate for the next five + years. Amazing to think back that my first impression was that he worked so hard for the team when over the years that lack of effort has come to be one of the biggest criticisms levelled at him.

I posted this earlier in this thread:Taken from this article about Anderson : http://www.theguardian.com/football/blog/2014/jan/16/manchester-united-anderson-enigma
"In the big time of Premier League football, Moyes has named Anderson only twice in his starting XI and he may depart stuck on a total of 104 appearances in the top flight. In his 70 starts Anderson was substituted a staggering 51 times, meaning he completed only 19 matches: this is around two and a half full games for each of the seven years at the club – one of a plethora of statistics that illustrate why United are willing to move him on."
Is that right? If so, I'm genuinely amazed... 2 and a half full league games per season whilst with us!?
Probably be more favourable if extended to cup games, but still.
Medical today apparently, but could only be announced next week because Fiorentina have to secure a work permit.Ha this loan deal been confirmed?
