I generally agree - but in our current position, we can't afford to find yet another player to replace - especially one who is actually doing a decent job.

By that logic, we should sell everyone bar 3-4 players. Your last sentence is wishful thinking. What evidence is there that the powers that be suddenly has a genuine plan and will act accordingly? We need a lot of very good players to get to that next level.Well, we should start if we want to get out of this vicious "transition" cycle. Herrera is a good player, but not one who would take us to the highest level. We need to get our act together at some point, and this summer is as good a time as any.
To me we should have rewarded him when we won the EL and he was given MOTM and won the POTY. Even if we had just lengthened his contract by another couple of years, he probably would have been happy with that at a bit of a pay rise. Then he would have been here until he is near 32 and if we let him go then, fine. Except we, I think presumed he would just wait and wait. It was reported the other day that we told him we had taken the year option by post. Surely we aren't that impersonal? There is something rotten at this club. What other team rushes to get fecking sick notes, who can’t even be counted as squad players, signed up, but let important players run down their contracts and leave it too late to come to a sensible agreement. This wouldn’t be a problem if we had capable people at the top, owners, Ed etc. Alas, we don’t, so imo this is a real problem.
We already needed more quality in the middle with Herrera included. One step forward, two steps back. That is Manchester United post SAF.
Yeah, that’s what I’m thinking. We have left it too late, and as such I wouldn’t fault him for trying something new with excellent team mates and all but guaranteed league titles. All these posters saying it’s alright, we should be doing better etc, seem to conveniently forget that we already need to upgrade 4-5 positions as it is.To me we should have rewarded him when we won the EL and he was given MOTM and won the POTY. Probably the closest to an actual Captain on the team and most folks are talking about how really he'll be replaced...
It's the bring the kids in as well. That is a hell of a risk, to throw them in. The same ones will be moaning when we are mid-table. We need top 4, yes we signed Pogba, who we paid a lot but he had a connection to the club, the others I do not count. They were stop gap signings either injury prone, not wanted by their old clubs or past their best. They are throwing names about as though Manchester United is still the biggest draw, it isn't, we have fallen down the pecking order. Also we have, an unknown to most players, manager. It will be interesting, but people thinking everything will be fine might be in for a wake up call, it could go either way, so be prepared.Yeah, that’s what I’m thinking. I don’t think Ole will succeed here (PL/CL win). I don’t think anyone could win those here over the next couple of seasons. The summer transfer window will be an indication, but I’m not confident it will indicate us getting to that fabled ‘next level’.It's the bring the kids in as well. Inclined to agree unfortunately.I don’t think Ole will succeed here (PL/CL win). I don’t think anyone could win those here over the next couple of seasons. The summer transfer window will be an indication, but I’m not confident it will indicate us getting to that fabled ‘next level’.
Would that be enough though? I’m not so sure. A lot of the criticism Poch is getting on here is exactly that he is an expert in getting top 4 without actually winning anything. Being realistic, I actually would be relatively happy with that, if he gets proper backing. Which he won’t. Meaning he’s not competing on equal footing with City and Liverpool.I think if Ole can do what Poch is doing at Spurs - stable and comfortable Top 4 status without a dog-fight, good CL performances (QFs minimum) plus the odd domestic cup (which Poch didn't do ofc), all the while making smart signings and playing an attacking brand of football, that would be enough to call him a success.
Basically, he can stay for 2-3 years doing that and leave a solid base for the next guy to win titles with us. Something LvG was supposed to do for instance but failed to.
If Ole exceeds expectations and wins titles, well and good. But don't expect it with City being what they are and Liverpool also ahead in their progress.
Can't help but suspect that the P$G rumors might have something to do with this sudden 'injury'...

If Pogba had come out with those quotes. Herrera can do one.

Yep on top of the gaping lack of quality we already need. He wasn’t one of the players that needed replacing.I'm personally gutted if he goes. One of the few players with passion in this wet team.
Also that's another £50-£60 million we need spunk out for a new midfielder.
