As long as there's promotion/relegation, the Championship will be happy-ish. The lower leagues not so much because they feed off scraps. The football system in England is extremely oversaturated, but that's part of the sporting culture in England and I wouldn't change it at all. I understand how important they are as centers for community well-being and consistency.
The argument is more that fans of lower league clubs would stop paying to see their local team on Saturday at 3pm, because they may as well watch the Premier League on TV. So the knock on effect is the livelihood of clubs beyond the Championship.
