Do you think he's an Amrabat alternative?
I think if the reason as said in the article is true, bringing him in would be to replace Mctominay.

However, If it's true they want 60m I don't think we'll have enough funds to get Amrabat, Onana and a CB.

I think if the interest was serious and you wanted a deal to be made it would be nearing 70m at this stage of the window.

He was a very raw talent that was bought for instant impact but also sell on potential. We spent quite a bit on him so would be wanting to double that pretty much to let him go.

I think the best place for him currently is at Everton to develop as I’ve mentioned a few times the part of his game he needs to develop is his consistency, both during a game and from game to game. He can go missing at times and I don’t know if United or United fans have the patience for that type of player. He does have enormous potential and he made some passes through the forward line on the weekend that he wasn’t making last season so he’s clearly taking steps to fulfill that potential.

United checking options is not exactly a tragic news tbh. While Amrabat to United feels like a done deal, this could be pacy addition to have in midfield, especially after Fred's departure.

I would leave him at Everton for a season to see his progression if we are really interested and go for Amrabat now. Meanwhile it’s good that we are doing the groundwork for next season

Where is the article again?

Could the price go silly is the worry, hopefully he is only under consideration IF we can somehow sell McTominay which is looking tricky

he was one of Everton's best players last season....very very solid box to box midfielder and a big physical presence

I really don't understand some perspectives at times he was solid. There is not a midfielder at United who excels defensively and will use physicality aside Casemiro. The best aspect about this is the business the players age, easier to recoup some of the value if it doesn't work out as he'd be mid 20's when such a situation could be assessed.

If he does well for a season we will be looking at £100m range in fees, I think we are already too late the most economic move would have been when he was coming from Belgium or where ever they plucked him from. From here on in the only way we can compete effectively is to have have like 30m set aside for punts from the continent or South America, if we are making well measured punts from these areas a few are bound to turn out well.

What about the other 37 games though? Would be interesting to hear from an Everton supporter considering they looked terrible last season in general. I don't know why we don't just go for Lavia, surely this guy would cost as much.
If I may ask, what’s your logic here? Which do you think is better? Do you think the better player would cost more?

I remember watching his debut last year and thinking that Everton had a real gem on their hands. Would be more than happy if we were the club that provided the polish.

As he’s a completely different profile to Amrabat, I’d assume he’s not seen as an alternative. I rate him higher than Lavia, who I think is massively overrated on here, so a similar sort of fee would be good business
I agree, I also feel Lavia is being overrated. I think Onana would be a bigger upgrade for us going off what I've read and heard from people who watch the player. And just watching Onana's highlights it's quite clear to see that his ability to receive passes on the half turn and carry the ball through midfield whilst showing good acceleration is impressive for a player that is 6'5. And people who watch him regularly have also said that he's always showing for the ball.

For a player that's 6'4/6'5, this level of acceleration, dribbling and passing isn't normal imo.

He's going to cost over £50m without a doubt and I think his profile is quite unique for a player of his size and technical ability. Of course there's things that will need ironing out at like his concentration on setpieces as @SilentWitness said. But I think a player with Onana's profile helps us in and out of possession. And with a number of teams playing direct football in the EPL with the aim of winning second balls high into the opponent's half, its also important to have options in your team to combat that play style as well..

I think 60m for either Lavia or Onana is absolute madness. Are we moving away from Amrabat?

We need a big feck off midfielder, Bruno Erikson Mason are too delicate.

I agree but like I say want to get both Amrabat and this guy because different profiles, unfortunately can't see it happening as think we won't be able to sell McTominay

If I had to choose one it would be Onana over Amrabat tbh.

I think if we get Onana for 50 mill, It would be the best DM signing this season.

Selling McTominay is easy. Just not for 40-45m. There will be takers for 30-35

Fecks me off we have to choose when both of them offer something to this team

Another Onana?

Tra la la, la la la la la
One Onana, two Onana, three Onana, four
Four Onana's make a bunch and so do many more!!

are you saying he's shit and this would be a stupid move?

Obviously he’s an absolute unit but he uses his frame much better than say McTominay in terms of shielding the ball, which makes him more press resistant and more likely to show for the ball.

I think he’s probably being considered as a replacement for McTominay, who is the better finisher (obviously he was a forward in his youth), but I think Onana is superior in every other aspect of his game. He’d be an instant upgrade with plenty of time and room for development.

Bit of a dirty fecker as well, i'm well up for this.

Sangaré has a €37.5m buyout clause, but I'm not too sure many on here would like another Eredivisie player
Never watched him but the Liverpool fans on their Reddit who've watched his highlights don't rate him at all

I’d quite like this signing I think. He’d be an absolute monster in the middle for us. Reminds me a bit of AWB with his tackling with him having such long legs. Harsh on Amrabat if we signed Onana instead though. Amrabat has waited all summer for us

Well could get him too if we could actually sell McTominay,so frustrating that Heaton got injured scuppered any sale of Henderson too

Completely agree.

And according to the Guardian piece posted above, West Ham bidding again for Mctominay could well see a bid being accepted. Then I can see us possibly signing both Onana and Amrabat.
