Some good news , I’m excited to see how good he can get, he has the right mindset so no reason he won’t kick on
"who's world is this....?"funny, I find it kinda sad
I wouldn't be surprised if his prime lasts into his 30s, but it's definitely a good deal regardless. If it really is for £90k a week that seems like a pretty good deal. We have him under contract for 5.5 years now at under £5M a year. That's essentially all of his prime -- he'll be 28 when the contract expires.
That'd be very unusual. The average winger or CAM peaks at 26 and declines substantially by 28-29 (source: https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/2935360/2021/11/15/what-age-do-players-in-different-positions-peak/), it's a young man's game in attack.I wouldn't be surprised if his prime lasts into his 30s, but it's definitely a good deal regardless.
Yeah I was really worried he was going to leave given the way Ethl treated him. Fantastic news.Good news. Nice to know Amad will be a prominent player for us going forward after being misused by the previous manager.
I’m not taking a NYT article as the gospel for when modern footballers peak or decline. I’ll just watch football and think they’re not 26/28-29 respectively. That'd be very unusual. He'll likely have lost some pace by 28 (see: Rashford), and I think the wise thing to do would not be the team that gives him another raise for a contract into his 30s. Keep him as a relatively low earning player in his prime, then sell for a good fee as he starts to decline while probably wanting higher pay.
I wouldn't mind those declining 28yo KdBs, and David/Bernardo Silvas. Likewise, Iniesta had turned to shit by Euro 2012.I’m not taking a NYT article as the gospel for when modern footballers peak or decline. I’ll just watch football and think they’re not 26/28-29 respectively.
And Rashford (who’s 27) isn’t the barometer for pace loss. He’s got pace, he’s just lost something else.
Great news but it's crazy to think 2030 was ten years ago
He's got the technique and in game intelligence to evolve his game as he starts to slow down. Only time will tell if he does obviously, Hazard being an obvious example of where that didn't happen, but there are plenty of examples of good players reinventing themselves as they age to remain effective. That'd be very unusual. It’s truly shocking isn’t it… 5 years ago as well. Woody fecked this club up good and proper. Not to keep harping on about Rashford but we gave him 250k at 21 which was too much too soon and has contributed to the situation we're in now, so need a different approach.
Of course they will. He'll be fit to burn in a couple of years if he has three bad games on the spin.Good news. Hope the fans don’t turn on him like they’ve done with Mainoo and Garnacho if his form dips.
I initially made the argument that I thought it was because Rashford and Garnacho were clearly more suited to the direct approach EtH favoured and they were better goal scorers, but after seeing him this season and his workrate in particular, I’m not sure why he didn’t play more.Im confused why he didn't play more under Hag but at the samebtime not upset. He's young, he's a fresh youngsters with his years ahead of him. The lad could keep his standards into his 30s if he continues to manages himself well. Another plus, he doesn't drink and leads a very simple life without constant media attention. I love watching him play.
