Had to give some minutes to his mate Mata of course.
That was kind of a weird sub. The game was done and dusted and Carrick plays Mata with roughly a minute left. Love the guy but i just can´t see the point

Didn't know there was a cup like that.

Yep, not sure if it’s been done before, but it’s being played over the next month or so. First choice players from Europe aren’t being considered though I don’t think.

Mejbri has confirmed he’s going. If you have Instagram check his last post - hannibal.mj is his username.

That would be a big mistake if we let him go. We have some very good prospects in the Youngsters here and they should be getting more game time.

I'm hoping Amad gets a proper chance under Rangnick, given his off the ball press is better than the other wingers.

And Cavani started the season in Uruguay and Ronaldo started it in Turin. They are all available now.
Amad wasn't even planned for to be in the first team squad this season. He was supposed to go on loan. By the time he was fit enough to make the first team squad Solskjaer was in trouble/gone. He wouldn't have played either way this season except for cup matches/the upcoming dead rubber CL game.

We should continue with the original plan and he should be loaned out in January. He needs regular minutes right now, not being a rotational option trying to get ahead of Lingard, Martial, Rashford, Sancho and Greenwood. Martial and/or Lingard could be gone in the summer. He does well on loan the rest of the season and he'll get a chance to be more involved next season. Same for Elanga.

That stuff happens a lot when teams are winning, just squashes another thing to drag out the time until the end.

People get that but why not bring Amad on instead. Mata didn’t look happy coming on and didn’t even touch the ball.
Amad would have been happy coming on knowing it’s good for his experience and also a confident boost no matter how small it is.

To be fair to Carrick, I was just encouraged to see him on the bench. He hasn’t even been in a squad and then Carrick comes and he’s in the first one. I would have thought he’d be on the bench for our trip to his old club for example. Familiar surroundings and opposition etc, but he just seemed to have been following the squad around like some sort of mascot.

No Amad for the under 23s again.

Surley it's a waste of his time traveling to the first team games and never playing.

Would be better off getting some minutes imo.

It's a tricky one because he's way too good for the U23's, but it's tough for him to get first team action here with our attacking options.

He really needs to be out on loan which, but for the injury, he would be. So it's about which of the other two options to do until January. And I guess they're trying to do both - give him some U23 games but also give him first team squad experience.

But I agree that, before he gets loaned out in January, he'll benefit from some more U23 action so that he's match fit and sharp when he starts his loan.

He should go to Feyenoord if they're still interested, challenging for the league and playing in Europe would be a great experience for him.

It might help a bit if the likes of Lingard, Martial, Mata weren't here, who really have no future whatsoever here and accumulate about 500k every week put together.

Exactly, we really blocked his development (he was unlucky with the injury too). We have too many average-poor players who take up squad places.

Yeah the injury was unfortunate but Mata's extension was oh so pointless and the club is still looking to extend Lingard. Just completely useless, get rid of these players.

If Pogba, Cavani, Mata, Martial, Lingard, Jones would leave at the end of the season, that is over a million pounds in wages every week. Something nice can be done with that money.

It's amazing how much money we squander, resource management must be close to 0.

Very true but is there just a tiny possibility that Carrick could use him tomorrow

If Rangnick plays his 4-2-2-2 I think Amad would surely be great as that inside winger/playmaker
Him and Sancho both fit that role well.

That’s what Rangnick is here to solve! We hope. Long term players like Amad, Hannibal, Laird etc. will have a far less congested route to first team football.

Young kids get limited opportunities..when they do come in to a team it is crucial that they know exactly what their role is and what is being asked of them...if an entire squad plays in a system and trains to play in that system, it is more likely that players can be switched in and out without a drastic drop in quality....look at Liverpool slotting a 19 year old in the centre of the park in the CL...seamless...because he knew what to expect. Garner or Hannibal or Levitt would look lost if we paired them with Fred or McT...because we don’t have a system and a set way or playing...it’s all very vague ...however, this is the thing that excites me most about Rangnick...whether manager or not, the system is bible...and we will hopefully see more of the amazing potential we have coming through playing a valuable role in the first team.

Rangnick will ensure that the youth and reserve teams are playing in a similar system/style to the first team. This will improve youth development enormously

It is truly awful and I have no idea why posters justify some of these horrible decisions time and time again. The club has obviously underperformed but United has the resources to be such a powerhouse on all fronts, the club's potential is huge.

I really hope, especially a huge fan of Amad and Laird. These kids just need to play.

I also hope he goes to Feyenoord( I'm an Ajax fan) as they have the best young manager in Holland (Arno Slot) and they play a high press. And as you said challenging for the title and in Europe.

I'm really interested to see how Rangnick uses Amad. From what I've heard, Rangnick likes to try and bring through younger players with something to prove compared to the more experienced players.

I think Amad is already way too good for the under 23s so he needs to either be fast tracked to the first team or go out on loan.

It seems difficult for him to make the first team this season because we have so many options for the front three positions so I feel like a loan move may be the best option as we will possibly lose Cavani, Lingard and Martial next season freeing some space for him.

Amad has to start versus Young Boys.

We are for sure stalling him this season.

He isn't playing for the under 23s or the first team.

Loan in Jan because he is way too good to not be playing football

He's been injured since the start until the last couple of weeks, hasn't he

Was injured for a while. Came back play 1 and a half under 23 games about a month ago.

Since then he travels with the first team to every game but never plays.

Not a good way to develop a player.

Young Boys is a must start. No point playing the likes of Mata over him.

I hope he gets lot of chances under RR, I believe RR will love him. He works so hard and wins back possession a lot, presses very well and very good with ball. He lacks raw pace but 4-2-2-2 should suit him better as he can pick the space and be a playmaker like Sancho.

From the games where he played decent mins, if he keeps it up then he will play lot of games.

Probably our best player.

I am sure he's the best during training and is always on the winning teams.

Would be a dream replacement for Antony at Ajax, but I trust RR to see his class.

Looks like hes gonna be starting tonight.

If so I can't wait. Been so eager to see Amad get a proper chance for ages. I think he'll surprise a few with just how good he is.

I have doubts with Mata making the bench over him against Crystal Palace but I hope so. I think everyone will get at least 10/11 on the line-up predictions game with the question being whether Mata starts or not and for who. Personally I think Mata and Matic both playing would put too much on the other eight outfield players to press but we'll see.

Mata playing over him would be an atrocity

Rangnick had taken half a training session, it's not surprising the lineup and squad were extremely similar to the game before.
