That's what I mean. People say that he barely plays etc, but he clearly does. Quite often. And not on merit. Probably due to Ole liking him for some reason.

How often?

We played 62 games last season, that's 5580 mins ignoring extra mins added. James played 1521 mins, that's 27% of the total mins. That is barely playing and a mins that back up player plays.

Was it? He scored a nice flicked header against Milan. Haven't really been blown away by any of his other apps. But then he has a fancy foreign sounding name though doesn't he so that automatically means he's better?

Ah, that old chestnut.

Anyway, this James-Amad comparison is trivial at best. What is the most important aspect of this is where Amad gets these minutes/ game time.

That was before we added another winger in Sancho and with Martial out for second half of the season, may I add.

James minutes are only likely to decrease from last season.

The problem we have is that we struggle to shift players like Lingard, Pereira and James. They therefore block the path for emerging players like Amad, Hannibal, Shoretire and Elanga.

Personally, I'd like to see Elanga loaned out to a top Championship side. Possibly Shoretire too, although I wouldn't be against him staying here and competing for a place in the squad along with Amad and Hannibal. We need to prioritise these young lads over the ones who have played year after year for us and let us down time after time.

Hopefully Amad will get chances this season but if Ole plans to use him as some 5th or 6th choice, it's better to loan him out. He needs games to develop, he warned bench at Atalanta and then at ManUtd. He should play regularly to improve.

1521 minutes too many. Ole clearly likes him.

Is the year 2020? Is the squad this year the same as last season?

The trend is clear: James plays a lot and he will probably start on Saturday, another example of that. With Rashford out he will be preferred rather than Amad, Hannibal, Mata. 100%.

Are you saying he finds him sexually attractive? Or just wants to be his pal? Maybe hang out at the cinema together? Because I’m struggling to find any other reasons a manager would “like” a footballer other than what he does on the football pitch (i.e. picking him on merit)

The only trend that is clear here is that of your ridiculously stupid posts. Take a break.

Isn't this the same guy who said he didn't rate Shola because his stats wasn't that good for U18s and then had a go at Ole for not playing Shola? And the said player just turned 17 at that time.

I love it when Caf members think they know more than the management team. Amad probably has the brighter future for sure and that's why he needs to play consistent football not sit on bench most of season. What's he going to learn playing limited minutes from our bench?

As long as he goes somewhere where he’s actually going to get minutes and start the majority of games I’m fine with it, at the end of the day he is for the long term.

Would prefer him to stay in the premier league so he can get used to the physicality, somewhere like Brighton or Norwich where they play good football would be perfect.

If you want Amad to get James and Lingards minutes then he won’t develop ffs.
The overreactions are starting early I see

You have literally been told he doesn’t play a lot

Dan James got 7 goals and 6 assists last season from incredibly limited first team opportunities and plays for Wales national team every game. He's clearly not woeful is he?

Amad has only played a handful of minutes for us so far. He's nowhere near ready.

Stop trying to talk sense, some people don't undersatnd it!

Love me some fake stats

Probably the right decision, just fecking depressing that it's another year of seeing the likes of Mata, James and Lingard getting the minutes in the cup-games and coming in as subs.

He didn't have a Sancho blocking out path to first team football though. Amad does and if he and club are choosing a loan now, and if he goes to a lower tiered club to get minutes, his path to first team at United would be very difficult.

Are you saying if he goes to a upper midtable championship club and rips it up. 10-15 goals, 10-15 assits that would hurt his chances of getting into the squad next year?

Work on your anger. James played more than both Mata and DvB last season. He will play a lot this season too, despite being shit almost every game. I've never seen such a poor footballer play as much for a club like United. You should come up with a better argument.

Keep making up things "scout":lol::lol:

Did I? Remember reading this post.

So why exactly are you upset he isn’t playing for the seniors? This was less than a month ago.

We have one of the youngest squads in the league so the idea we don’t play youth is ridiculous , but I know you have already had that discussion and it’s getting circular.

Hard to believe you're arguing in good faith at this point, as you wanted him dropped into the U18s three weeks ago.

It's not fake, it's just over two seasons. Last season he scored 3 in 15 appearances, around Timo level.

In all competitions over the last two seasons, he has a goal or an assist every 250 minutes which is beyond awful for a Manchester United winger.

I'm slightly worried about this one. If we get this even slightly wrong it won't end well. Amad is at a stage where he's very small, very technical, but has a lot to do to translate that ability into functional football at senior level. He's shown quality in flashes and for the youth side but there is still a feeling he's some way off. It's a chicken and egg situation because he needs games to get there, but he also needs the right environment.

The issue I have is if we don't find the right club it will be a completely wasted season as he would have been better off training with us, being able to oversee his physical development and giving him some appearances. It's the same with any loan deal of course, but we have a 30 million player on the line and he's particularly unique.

He's going to be a very easy player to scapegoat for a club if they have a tough patch. We need to find the right kind of footballing side and the right manager.

If James/Lingard/whoever stay here and Amad goes on loan it's because we aren't worried about the ones staying here getting gametime. James is basically at the level he will always be at, he's here as a squad player and for certain tactical uses. If Amad goes on loan it's because we want him playing as much as possible. It doesn't mean Ole thinks he's worse than James or has less potential.

Some of the comments in here are insane, Amad is clearly not ready to start here and just needs senior football minutes.

That doesn't make sense.

Let me spell it out. Martial scored 7 goals last term and 23 the one prior. Since it is quite okay to combine James' stats for last two seasons and pass it off as last seasons, might as well do the same for Martial.

Since I've digressed enough, on the topic of the thread, I don't see any reason why a loan to a PL side can't work for Amad. He's just turned 19, hasn't played week in week out for any senior team and plays in a position where we are reasonably stacked. If a PL team can guarantee him 25+ league appearances, that'll be a bonus for us.

If he actually gets to play like Pellestri then it's better for him and us. I don't think he's ready to make a significant impact on our team as yet, but he absolutely needs significant game time in a good league.

No one said it was okay, one was a genuine mistake, the other is you either blatantly lying or being genuinely thick to think he really scored 30 last season.

Spell at Dortmund ? They are good with development and maybe a sweetner for Haaland next year or Bellingham ? only problem is he wouldn't be a starter for them either.

I said it would be good for him to play for the U18s, not that I didn't rate him as a good player. He had only scored or assisted in four of the first twelve games for the U23. I've never believed he is fully ready for the first team, he is only 17. But if the club believes in him so much, he should obviously play in meaningless games.

That's across all premiership games if I'm not mistaken?

So whilst the poster may have misconstrued the stats, they are still true stats?

Just not in the context of what the poster said originally.
