Pleased for him, lovely inside run and great imagination for the header.

he showed he was able to play at this level, I hope we trust and use him more. He’s no worse than James that’s for sure.

Looked good to me... lovely finish too. If we know one thing, it's that Ole loves goals and good movement, I think (or at least hope) he'll be further forward in Ole's mind when making subs in the premier league.

Excellent goal, but other than that, didn't offer much, could be why Ole doesn't pick him.

I know we have barely seen him play, but I don't quite see his what his style play is. Anyone shed some light?

Or... you know he was told along with the rest of our team to sit back and stop pressing
There's no way we are told to sit back and have no urgency from 45th minute mark of the game like that but perhaps he needs to get used to the tempo and the half arsed pressing team tactics..

Always important to check your first goal off the list, made a great run for it too.

Think people are being harsh.

None of our attackers ever seen to be up to much. Maybe the complete lack of quality behind them is an influencing factor.

Our attackers see so little of the ball near the opposition box

This is a classic over-the-top caf reaction. Apart from one brilliant header, he showed nothing that would suggest he's even close to James, who has been a solid, albeit not brilliant performer.

nicely taken goal, great positive movement but I’m getting more winger who’d rather be a striker vibes off him already. Don’t we have enough of that already with Greenwood Martial and Rashford? Too early to come to any kind of definitive opinion of course. He looks a tricky dribbler when he gets going. Chuffed for him. He should get minutes in the league soon @Berbasbullet :)

And as I said before, he's ready to contribute. But when we were several who said that here, Ole apparently knew more than us according to some. A manager can never be wrong, apparently. Amad is going places, if he is doing that at United I don't know because we are so poor as a unit sometimes. But he is going to be some player and he is ready now.

Let's be honest apart from the goal he didn't do anything, and while the goal was good it was helped by the keeper being in no mans land

Mmmmm, the keeper made a decision to come, Amad saw him off the line and adjusted well, if he had stayed on his line, then Amad may have reacted differently, we'll never know.
He didn't do a great deal, harried a few times, but really it's a learning curve for the lad, I hope to see him get more minutes over the remainder of the season, and some starts next season, before possibly being our RW first pick in 22/23.

I don’t think so? He made some great link passes and worked plenty hard.

what did James do better today? Miss an open goal?

Amad will be twice the player James is.

Is Ole wrong to keep playing Greenwood when he’s been by far our worst attacker this season? If he wasn’t playing Greenwood I’m sure you would be going mad about that too, maybe rightly so... he used Diallo very well. He got his goal and didn’t do much else. If he was on for the 90 would he have won us the game? On the evidence of that 45 ,even though he scored, probably not. What’s clear is we are in big trouble without Bruno. We should have a striker making those runs all night but all our lads want it to feet in front of a packed defence.

Let’s not get carried away, agree, but Inthink he showed more than the goal. He had some good basic runs and movements that we didn’t see before he came on.

Does he have a choice? For the record, I think Martial has been worse actually. We are in big trouble without Bruno, I agree.

It's very difficult for him to show his potential due to the negative mindset from our team. He just doesn't get enough touches due to our reactive approach, where we prioritize maintaining defensive stability, over attacking intent. It was another boring game, if I'm honest.

Hard to assess him after tonight as it clearly wasn't a team in a great shape and those players had not played with each other before.

It really was. When you start a game with Matic and McT you’re going to lose control of the game and not create enough. That’s the heatbeat of the team. getting it forward far too predictably and waiting for Bruno to pull a rabbit out of the hat. I don’t know how attackers can thrive in a lineup like that. It happens when we play Matic every time. We end up sitting deeper and deeper and playing slower and slower. We are always just hanging on by the end of games he plays. Sorry wrong thread but I think it’s hard to see link up play and clever runs when we take an age to get it forward but still almost route one style. No press to get the ball forward fast and catch them on the backfoot

Super goal and showed some confidence. Completed 16 out of 19 passes. Would have liked to see him try to take on Milan defenders more often when he had the ball in the final third.

Where do you get the stats from, was wanting to look at this, not on Amad just can never find them

they were well set every time we eventually got the ball forward. Way too slow in the buildup and timid in the press. The one time we made a positive run behind we score and then revert back to type. Argh.

We're too risk averse in our approach which affects the attacking players, who have the opposition set in their defensive structure. The below tweet is reflective of our approach to games.

Not really baffling at all.

Unless he can think of two non-teenagers we could have played up front instead? Or how about a replacement for any of those three “defence minded midfielders”?

Reality is not something that is taken into account with them. The injuries we have simply do not exist for this hot take!

Very harsh those saying he did nothing other than the goal. I thought he was extremely tidy on the ball. If you’ve watched him in the reserves you’d know one of his best assets is his decision making and whilst he is capable of skilful solo stuff, he does so at exactly the right time. He has a football brain years ahead of his body.

Very good performance IMO.

I think a different manager could well have shown more attacking intent to get a second goal. Is that fair to assume?

Drop Bruno next to Matic or McTominay and bring Diallo on in the #10 role. Show some intent to get the second goal playing at home.

It’s still just too weak a squad isn’t it? We have too few options in too many key positions. Take Bruno out and we are still a fairly long way off. It’s a good job he hasn’t been injured yet. Not trying to turn this into a Fred thing. I agree he loses soft possession too much but he nearly always attempts to gets the ball forward as fast as possible which plays to our attacking players strengths, the same with the pressing higher up. Nobody else in our squad can or will do that. In that way he is the perfect partner for Bruno who doesn’t look as effective in a slower set up

When we have to play with Matic against well organised teams our lads just want it to feet about 25 yards out, recycle to full back to midfield and repeat. No penetration or plan B. Annoying game. The away leg is going to be interesting....

I would agree . I thought he was vsry tidy considering how little first team football he has actually played and how Young he is. Very positive signs but lets not get carried away his time will come

Seeing as their two CMs were already more or less running the show, that would have been foolhardy to the point of stupidity. If we’re chasing the game, desperate for a goal, maybe. Otherwise absolutely moronic.
