I saw Pogba in the first team back then, he wasn't ready.

He looked like a lanky kid with a couple of skills.
But he had outgrown the youth team. However he and his agent threw their toys out and moved before he could be integrated fully

Yeah, the guy most qualified to make that decision about Pogba decided he wasn't ready for a Utd shirt. He wanted him to stay at the club because he knew he was getting close, Pogba decided to leave. He may gave played in as many games for Utd the following season, we'll just never know.

Pogba went to a Juve team with an exceptional midfield around him in a fairly uncompetitive league. It was far easier for him there, and let's be honest very few on here will have watched every Juve game to know how well he played week in week out. He had decent stats there. His stats at Utd aren't bad either, but his performances have ranged from non-league clogger to the world cup winning midfielder that he is. Pogba has really only shown this season what he is actually capable of on a consistent basis in a Utd shirt, and it's about time too.

As for Diallo, he needs to be given a little more time to adjust to the country and the club first, it's a big move for him. He's only been there a few weeks already and has come from a club where he's barely featured, he has to improve his fitness levels first and show that he's ready to play. I don't see he rush to throw him into the first team.

Yeah that was a load of nothing wasn’t it.

But thanks for the breakdown of Pogba’s career. The main point was he left a reserves team and went straight into Italy’s best team. You making it sound like Andreas Perriera could have done what he did doesn’t explain my point.

He might have, well never know.

Your point is that Diallo should be dumped into the first team set up right away?

Both Ronaldo and Rooney largely bypassed the reserve setups,at their club's and played 1 and 2 full seasons in the league for their teams before the switch to Utd. Martial had 2 full seasons in France.

Diallo has played 5 games in 2 years for Atalanta. As much as I'd like to see him play and as much as I'd like to see Martial not play. It makes sense to give him a few games in the u23 to get him acclimatised up to speed mid season. I'm sure if he was ready he'd at least be on the bench.

Very true, people seem frightened to have their own opinion on players and seem to only be able to trust the judgement of the coaches or pundits rather than form their own views.

Other than being more qualified they also have more information abt the players than us. So obviously they are better judges than us. But doesn't mean they are always right and we shouldn't have an opinion. For instance I can't believe we went into last season playing with a no. 10 without an actual no. 10 and relied on Lingard and Pereira.

So I can't believe we will continue to play without a proper RW while we have Diallo.

I can't see him not play within next couple of weeks with the state of our RW

Exactly so there choices are saying he’s not ready. £30m for a player who is not ready whilst we already sit on Dan James in that position. Do you know how idiotic that sounds. Not your opinion personally, I mean the decision from the club. If he’s not ready to sit on the bench what was this all for? Are we a development club now.

Name me an £18m player brought to play 6 months of u23’s football? It’s just dumb. He best be on the bench soon.

Firstly, he is 18.
Secondly, he has barely played any football this season, clearly needs a couple games to get match sharp.
Thirdly, Ole has already said we will see him in the coming weeks.

Who said he is brought to play U23's?

Pellestri was bought to do that, he went straight to the youth set up, Diallo went straight into first team training.

His ages means nothing considering his price. You would hope all that was assessed.

Minutes are fine but he’s not injured there’s nothing an u23’s game against people he’s clearly way better than does for him. Except knock or personal tally’s of how many nutmegs he can get in a game. He could do that in training.

So we will see how this plans out, but I don’t see why anyone is making excuses why he shouldn’t be on the bench. It’s not like Ole trusts Dan James and Mata at the minute to come on and make an impact.

I think you really need to put a bit of perspective on it, regardless of the money. He's only 18, only been at the club about 3 weeks, he's got a new club, new team mates, new country, new city, new livng space, new surroundings and the fecking weather to acclimatise to.

Will it look stupid if he's still sat waiting for a chance to play after 6 or 12 or 18 months?

Now, does it really look that stupid after he's only been there 3 weeks?

Well, it is clear they have. We paid £18m initially, he went into the first team. A similar player was bought for cheaper and went to the u23's, clear evidence that they think he is a first team player.. not sure what more you need.

Again, he has just come to the country, new league, played hardly any minutes this season. Why do players coming from a long injury play U23's then? to get match sharpness that is not there in training.

I dont see what is so hard to comprehend in that?

This thread is defo going to be one of those that reads like this:

1. Why isn't he in the squad? We want to see him!
2. He has to be starting "He can't be worse than we have"
3. This lad will be special, will make a difference to the team.
4. Yay, he's starting the cup game! Massively opportunity for the lad. Way overdue that Ole gave him a chance.
5. OMG he was dreadful, clearly not ready. Ole was wrong to throw him in like that. Needs to go on loan.

When will we see Amad Diallo in the first-team?
"We're gonna give him the time to settle in and keep showing his skills, improving, get used to England and our way, if we go from that game, I'd pick Joe Hugill. Scored four goals, should have taken the penalty and got five instead of giving it to Amad, so Amad got two.

But Amad has come in and does well in training, he's got very good, close technique, he'll open up defences, so I don't think it's gonna be too long before he's involved in a matchday squad."

I don’t really care whether Diallo gets his first chance tomorrow or a month from now, but I hope we get a look at him before the end of the season. If it turns out we have a gifted player to serve at RW, we may be able to save the 90m we’d otherwise likely spend on Sancho on Haaland instead.

And that ladies and gentlemen is why Bellingham opted for Dortmund instead of us - he would be playing for the U18s for us let alone the U23s. Frankly I don’t understand why Diallo is not even making the bench - I don’t think he can do much worse than our of struggling wide front players

A couple weeks training and a few practice matches so he’s fully sharp once he gets his chance?

If he comes on and is useless he will be labelled a flop instantly, you don’t put a kid under that sort of pressure.
If he plays and doesn't play well then he's a flop, the sooner we find out the better don't you think ???

We are second in the table obviously we could do worse.

He’s been here for 3 weeks and hasn’t played first team football for a while. He’s just being bedded in. It’s entirely normal. It’s a process you even see happen with legitimate first team players at other clubs. Be a bit patient.

Because that isn’t good for a played confidence, you put them in when you’re sure they can handle it. He might come in and be amazing from game 1 and people will cry about us not playing him sooner, disregarding the fact that the management provided him the platform and confidence to go out and play well.

You all realise that Ole will be conferring with his team, all of whom have either worked with the youth squad, been a youth team player themselves or been part of the furniture at OT for a very long time. They will know how young players react to being introduced to the first team.

Because we've scored once in three league games and our forwards are all out of form.

Clear enough?
No haha we don't need to panic and rush any thing with extra pressure. Ole and staff are experienced so they won't panic but won't stop fans trying to create a situation where it is the only solution

Wow ... So new kid in a new league without much in the way of senior match day experience has one bad senior game or even a bad series of games and then he's a flop?

It's no wonder Ole is not throwing him into the deep end with such expectations

Nail on head

He's not even been here a month and has played barely any football this season. Give it a rest.

Talk about pressure for a 18 year old

These are the fans who after a player has a bad game will comment on their socials saying get out the club.

How do some fans think a 18 year old will tear the league apart? Surely we have to give him a couple seasons to even fill himself up.

Most players even in their prime struggle in the PL for 1 season.

I remember last season when we were not creating anything and everyone was going on about unleashing Gomes.

It would hardly be a panic to include him on the bench to try get a result.

Yeah I am not saying he has to be used but just naming him in the matchday squad lets the other wide players now that they will have to keep performing or there is someone young and hungry enough who is ready to take their place

This forum has a a strange obsession with players who do not play for us, which then develops into a strange hatred when they eventually do play... Same thing with managers too.

It's the hope that kills.

Fans have every right to be excited and impatient, they've been waiting 7/8 years for a proper right winger. All this pressure I keep on hearing about is solely down to the people that decided Diallo would be adequate enough to be Man Utd's main right winger, not the fans. The first team is still missing a natural right winger so the longer Solskjaer leaves him out the squad, the pressure, impatience and expectation will continue to build. Solskjaer needs to stop being a dick tease and give him 5/10 minutes off the bench to ease things off a bit.

VDB has largely been ineffective in most of his appearances and very few have labeled him a flop so far.

He's a seasoned professional who has been playing European football for years, not an 18-year-old kid.

No one will call Diallo a flop if he doesn't perform right away except maybe the ones who don't want him to play soon and are scared to be excited by him.

Yep. Totally true.

Classic example.. Young and Lukaku... hated as United players, now I have seen some posts saying only if we had them...

£5 he doesn’t get a single premier league minute this season.
