@Moby

Greg Chappell said Rod Marsh was one of only two players he knew who would kill to get into the Australian Test team, the other being Ian Redpath.

Both in.

Such a sweet to watch middle order. All stylish batsmen except Salim Malik who was a bit of a plod. Just hope you dont come up against a team that has McGrath in it.

we were scraping the end of the barrel for our last picks .

@2mufc0's team also has Donald in it. If I come up against him, might as well send Viv to open the innings.

Some very good teams there. Guess it depends on the luck of the draw to see who progresses.

Edit: Just realized that was a very Michael Owen-ish thing to say.

Malik wasn’t the most stylish but was very consistent.. And at no.6, he has his best batting average at an astonishing 56!

him and dujon are good batsmen who can fill in at 6 and 7. Imran has a higher average so I put him at 6
No I meant him at 7 with 6 proper batsmen.

6 specialists with 1/2 who can bowl + Imran and you can afford a poor batting keeper at 8 as Imran is anyway one of the frontline bowlers.

Really though, we have discussed this previously but using that cricinfo filter to pluck out averages for one position for both pointing out strength or weakness and doing so without much context can be misplaced arguments. A lot of batsmen averages get inflated if you look at one particular position.

Basically entire career stats by and large carry the most weightage.

Sure I get that.. Even then his average is in the mid 40’s which is pretty good for a number 5/6 batsman

Good team Raees, swap Border and YK positions?

Edit : actually Chanderpaul should be coming in a lot earlier.

I think Border more often than not batted at 5.
Just checked has an even spread of games between 4 to 6, quite a few games at 3 too. Very versatile bat good player to have in the team.

Where did he bat most frequently?

Played 88 innings at 4 and 70 at 5.. Khan mostly 3 and 4.. and Chanderpaul mostly 5 but has average of 64 playing at 6. Overall I think they're all proven in various positions and I put them where their averages are solid, with lots of innings played there.
