All Time Reserves Draft | Quarters

That makes quite a bit of sense. I'll drink a beer on that, to honour the newly gained knowledge and national beer day, which is also something I learned. I didn't even know it existed.

I'll drink to it as well, not least considering it's Beer Day.

Strikes me now as a wasted opportunity: When I was a married man (well, in all but name), I could have used that as a valid argument:

"Drinking again?"

"Yeah, but this is different: It's Beer Day, what do ye expect, woman?"

The good thing is that every country probably has a different beer day. You can use it all the time. The day of German beer is April 23rd (the day of the German purity law for brewing beer, which is the oldest food law in the world).

We'll pick the best left winger/forward in the draft - there are two players in this pool whom I'll put in the same class as Keizer, but I prefer him to both of them. The integral part of the all-conquering Ajax team and the main reason behind Cruyff's eventual departure to Barcelona.

In the words of a well-known Dutch writer, Nico Scheepmaker:
Cruyff is the best, but Keizer is the better one

1. Stobzilla & KM - 1. Enzo Francescoli
2. Downcast - 1. Luis Suarez
3. RedTiger - 1. Gianni Rivera
4. Sjor Bepo & Invictus - 1. Gerson
5. Tuppet - 1. Florian Albert
6. Aldo Staine - 1. Teófilo Cubillas
7. Chesterlestreet - 1. Matthias Sindelar
8. Isotope - 1. Sandro Mazzola
9. Skizzo & Pat_Mustard - 1. Uwe Seeler
10. harms & Annah - 1. Zizinho 2. Keizer
11. MJJ - 1. Dixie Dean 2. Dobrin

I always thought that was Octoberfest and not like 1 day but two weeks! So you've got 2 national beer fests?

Oktoberfest isn't a national beer fest. We've got lots of similar fests all summer long in almost every city in Bavaria and quite a few outside of Bavaria as well, like for example the Cannstatter Wasen in Stuttgart. Oktoberfest is just the biggest and most famous one.

In the words of Pelé:

My mama's second cousin? Forget about it. He was the best, and by "best" I mean he was the bomb. And by "bomb" I mean he was some guy. And by "guy" I mean go feck yourself, he was absolutely brilliant. At what he did. Which was something hardly anyone did. And by "hardly anyone" I mean most people, but not all people. So there it is: He was the man. And by "the man" I mean he was male - but what a male. And by "male" I mean he wasn't no woman.

Well, if I had to pick a City player in one of these drafts, I could do worse, I suppose.

Didn't know that he played for City!

He did, but was past his prime (the standard theme for Eastern-European players back then). He was also injured quite a lot for City, but his quality was there for all to see when he actually played. City fans regard him highly - a fact I hesitate to mention, as their opinion is usually best ignored.

Didn't you have him in a draft before?
Me and Theon had him in the 40s draft. I don't think he's had much mileage apart from that. Class player though, sacrilegious he wasn't picked in the nations draft.

Quoted and screen capped for match use.

That word alone worth a vote on your next draft, Gio.

Anyway, unless for a small group of players, the 40s is seriously way over many cafties knowledge here.

mmm, thought the other guy was rated better.

He is. By me, at least. And my granny.

The third guy is rated above him too. And his granny is rated above them both.

Bollocks statement to begin with. There isn't one - that's the answer. It depends (who would've thought it!) on what you go for. SHOCKING news, I know.

Brilliant Orange said:
Piet Keizer often calculated the strength of the wind, precisely overhitting the ball in the knowledge that it would be blown back to the correct position. In a famous 1968 European Cup match on a swamp of a pitch in Istanbul (the "Hell of Fenerbahce", as it became known), Keizer created one of the greatest Ajax goals ever by lobbing a high ball into the thickest mud on the field. The Turkish defenders, expecting a bounce, were wrong-footed as the ball stuck where it landed. Cruyff also read the conditions perfectly and glided on to the ball without breaking a stride, flowing on to score gracefully.

The second goal

Well the reason is a bit different that what is implied, tho. :)

Every day is a beer day in the Summer then.

Well, I specified that I personally prefer him to two others, even if they belong to the same bracket (and they do)
