All time ODI Draft

Was the one we were debating for, was between him and Sanga.

Love the saffer to bits but there's no way he's breaking that opening partnership, sorry.
Shame that we couldn't pick him due to someone inevitably ruining it with statsguru showing hes not played at 1st down at all - which is fair but tell me one reason why he wouldn't be equally kickass at 1st down coming in after Tendulkar and Waugh, specially as he plays that position in test cricket. He'll be phenomenal, better than Sanga would in our team, but then we live in a world of going by the book.

Thank god you didn't pick him. Its a non brainer for me. Strengthens my opening pair 100x.

OK. Here's a basic attempt to replicate different pitch conditions globally. You have one pitch supporting pace, swing, spin, batting and seam each. I've kept it generic enough to avoid countries, but it should be easy to work out a probable geographic location.

Do you wish to have any further details?

  1. Crisp conditions Good for pace merchants. Generates good amount of bounce. Very little dust cover. Still conditions and weather do not offer much support for swing.
  2. Green pitch. Little dust. Well-rounded and bouncy offering seam movement for the quick bowlers early on and tones down as day goes. Windy conditions aid swing bowling.
  3. Hot humid conditions. Dry surface. No grass. Less assistance for pace and bounce. Tends to support spin.
  4. Flat tops. Batting paradise.
  5. Hard deck. Supports seam bowling. Medium support for bounce and less for spinners.

I am struggling wit my next pick here. Two paths, completely different.

Thoughts on our bowling lineup of McGrath-Ambrose-Holding-Razzaq-Ashwin? Mills can come in as well depending on conditions.

if i was Skizzo i would have swapped mcdermott for mcgrath.

I ran a few things through my head (briefly, I'll admit) but swapping McDermott out would have removed my best pace option, for a better pace option. At least now there's pollock, McDermott and Murali, which IMO is a better option to have, than the alternative.

Not saying I'm right, mind :) it's usually not a good idea to make those decisions before bed :p

yeah that works too. Pollock is a batter so thats an advantage. But McGrath >> McDermott imo. Though yes it helps in batting strength. cheers. :p

He dropped the bermudan whale? Boooooooooooooooooo. That's the only reason I voted for his team.

That was the second thing too, extends my batting a little deeper. I have an idea in my mind for my next pick, but I'll probably change it again the more I wait and think about it :D

Then send me your pick now itself :p

Edit - can't promise I won't drop Gayle for Tikolo though- revenge for morning :p
