All time ODI Draft

Me and Aldo hadn't discussed replacement btw because we expected it to happen tonight and not so early. He should be up in an hour, I'm doing the shortlisting, will pick as soon as he's up.

We've got hunger problems in the country man.

And guys, regarding what Aldo said yesterday about Conditions and sample size and etc., the idea not to mention the actual name of the country is great. But if a player happens to struggle in particular conditions and the opposition brings it up, I don't really see a problem in that. This is what I am proposing, would like to know what your take on it is. I feel it is fairly balanced suiting people on both extremes.
  • When the Ground Description is mentioned, it can also be what mentioned Countries it may represent. We did this in the Test Draft and it worked well (Referring to the Subcontinent as a whole in the test drafts). For example
Ground Description 1: There will be early swing with the new ball, but overall it's a Batsmen friendly pitch. Quick Outfield. Large grounds. See England, Australia
Ground Description 2: There will be turn for the spinners, but otherwise it is a flat pitch which is very batsmen friendly. See India, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Sri Lanka.
  • Since Sample size is also an issue, so I propose we use a sample size of 25 (half the min 50 appearances). So if for example, Player A is an opener and has struggled in swing favouring conditions (first example) and he has played over 25 innings in England and Australia together and his average is poor, it can brought up as a genuine weakness for the said player. Anything less than 25 innings can be considered irrelevant and we can ask the poster to delete the post/not be considered and a counter argument is not required.

Also to bring about some structure to the Scheduling issues, here's what I am thinking

  • After fixtures are announced, teams have 12 hours to talk to their opposition in case they need to reschedule, following which the schedule is locked for good.
  • If after the lock, they want to reschedule again, then they have a maximum of 1 opportunity to do for the entire draft season. A 2nd request will be rejected and if they are unable to come up with a write-up, either the thread will go up without their write-up, or they get a bye.
What do you think ?

What is the plan for QF onwards based on ground condition description? I didn't read whole discussion...are we going to follow similar to what we did in R1 or something other has been agreed on? Like 5 match series or matchup irrespective of grounds?

None of those countries (except maybe Bangladesh) are that though. India and SL have slow wickets which are batsmen friendly. Pak have batsman friendly wickets with alittle more pace and bounce than India. No country has a turning track for ODIs. Maybe a few grounds here and there but not enough for generalising

There have been small changes but not a 5 match series. The game will still be on one ground and EAP will detail the conditions required to have a discussion on it.

OK.

JC.. just do a series .. here is what I used to do when running these games -

Please keep in mind that The voters are being asked to choose a team that will prevail over a five match series on these respective grounds.
  • Eden Gardens, Kolkatta ( Good for spin and batting)
  • Kingsmead, Durban (Good for pace bowling)
  • National Stadium, Karachi (Good for spin bowling)
  • Lords, London (Good for pace bowling and batting)
  • SCG, Sydney (Good for spin, pace and batting )
