All time ODI Draft

Still think that Russell, Junaid and Butler are good ODI players. Dhawan is shaky but can do his job. It's a bit twattish to single out a team when you haven't participated in the game but what's done is done.

It's absolutely incredible that anyone would put down Shikhar Dhawan & Jos Butler in an odi draft. Dhawan after 73 innings has 9 hundreds and a total of 25 scores of 50+ with an average of 43 and a Sr of 91. He was player of the tournament in an ICC tournament which his team won and then scored 73 vs Pakistan plus 137 against South Africa in the two most important group matches of the world cup. Buttler as a keeper batsman batting at 6-7 has the three fastest hundreds ever by an English player which includes a 46 ball hundred. Hey but these blokes didn't play in the 90's so they must be shit.

Do non playing guys (like Donaldo) get involved in the debating? Or is it just between team managers and then non players vote?
Anyone can participate. But warning, it usually begins with Varun making a 100 posts in the thread and then TMH ending it with one post that sums up those 100.

It's actually funny that he singled out those players when there are much worse players in this draft. Glad to see all that wumming in the Arsenal threads still rankle him a bit. Poor guy.

The teams we are eligible for have absolute morons now :(. I feel better of not making an R12 pick.

Nope, I answered this before. 2 players max from a single nationality in the squad of 12.

You can't play them in the same side, I would guess, as that's the norm. @Skills ? We can surely have a third player from the same country as long as he's on the bench?

He said 2 in the squad.

If he backtracks now then I would like to return Perera.

Team Mani/Ijaaz17
  • Mathey Hayden (Aus)
  • Alec Stewart (Wk)(Eng)
  • Kane Williamson (NZ)
  • Mohammed Yousuf (Pak)
  • Hansie Cronje (C)(SA)
  • Suresh Raina (Ind)
  • Jacob Oram (NZ)
  • Fanie De Villiers (SA)
  • James Anderson (Eng)
  • Glenn McGrath (Aus)
  • Mushtaq Ahmed (Pak)

@Mani - that's a solid batting line up, but I think a tad weak on the bowling side of things (McGrath aside).

Not weak.
We got McGrath, supported by Anderson who can swing the new ball either side.Di Villiers, player who played in mid 90's was leading bowler along with Donald for SA in both format of the game, along with McGrath he's the most economical bowler on those days, his bowling was exceptional in both sub continental and bounce/ swing pitches that we see in SA/AUS/ENG.We got leggi in form of Musthaq, along with Warne/Kumble were the best leg spinners of 90's.We got part timers Cronje/Oram who can have short spells in middle overs.

McGrath is WC. Anderson is overrated imo. He's lucky to come at a time when England went through bowlers that got caps because they were the best of a shite bunch. His longevity paid off for him.

De Villiers / Mushi / Oram are all good-to very good bowlers, but not great.

I did say a tad weak, not totally weak.

Given the depth of the pool, or lack of it, all teams have a lot of talking points and it will all come down to the match ups, which is nice. No one really stands out at the moment, in my opinion.

Agree there,he best years are after 2009. In his early part of his career is used to get Wtks but at the economy of 5.5 or something.

I think this is the team that @NM and I may go for, (depending upon the pitch though we may change)

1. Kirsten
2. Malik
3. Kohli
4. Lamb
5. Chanders
6. Dhoni
7. Fred
8. Shakib
9. O'Donnell
10. Bracken
11. Roberts

Fred actually has 50(28) against India in Natwest Series 2002 (i think) and 64 against India again in the WC among other scores while batting at 7 so he is not an unnatural pick for 5 down.
