Yeah, that's ridiculous, but is pretty well taken care of through limiting the available pool to those who have just exited. The combo of limiting the pool, raising min bids and limiting the number of reinforcements results in an emphasis on supernames for superteams, when some great but not so high profile players will fall by the wayside when they really should carry on playing.
It's a travesty Jimmy Armfield is out for good when two teams in the QFs didn't even have a real RB. But then, who the hell would blow 25/30M and one of three precious spots to get him now? You would have to be desperate. The (surprise) format is particularly advantageous to those who nailed down their defence early on and rode their luck a bit upfront. Think about Annah if he had gone through, he made huge investments upfront and left the defence for later, here he would be blowing all his money in two (three before final) defenders who probably went for just over ten but up to 20M early on, while others pick the likes of Finney for about the same money!
