All time British+Irish Fantasy Draft

Yeah, that's fine, I'm only pointing out the flaws in that for future reference.

I think its fine to have just one pick before the finals since it prevents the creation of superteams and give advantage to the person who drafted better from the start.

Remember picking up makele, messi and scholes in a draft before the finals because there was no such rule and I had saved up my money with that in mind.

Pretty much on the money. There is gold to be had in midfield to upgrade Ince with a couple of Lawro improvements available who shouldn't cost the earth. The Celtic/United players as Anto says are worth keeping as they're part of a bigger story that will generate votes.

TBH, I would change that assessment in light of the perverse mechanics of maximum reinforcements and minimum bids. Two clear as day candidates here.

Its frustrating when you're in the middle of it of course but I think this is a good thing - its unlikely that any team will be able to address all the weaknesses addressed by the voters, and the teams will probably still be recognisable compared to how they started off.

Yeah, that's ridiculous, but is pretty well taken care of through limiting the available pool to those who have just exited. The combo of limiting the pool, raising min bids and limiting the number of reinforcements results in an emphasis on supernames for superteams, when some great but not so high profile players will fall by the wayside when they really should carry on playing.

It's a travesty Jimmy Armfield is out for good when two teams in the QFs didn't even have a real RB. But then, who the hell would blow 25/30M and one of three precious spots to get him now? You would have to be desperate. The (surprise) format is particularly advantageous to those who nailed down their defence early on and rode their luck a bit upfront. Think about Annah if he had gone through, he made huge investments upfront and left the defence for later, here he would be blowing all his money in two (three before final) defenders who probably went for just over ten but up to 20M early on, while others pick the likes of Finney for about the same money!

That is true and screwed me a bit in the last round since there was no point in having the bigger budget when the minimum bid was 20m. The effect would only increase in this round and the next one with lesser competition.

I've got more money than you. Back off!
Am a stubborn paki.

You guys do realise all four teams released cracking right wingers, right? I would have expected your handbags to be over Denis Law, not George Best.

But once you factor in the number of upgrades the min bid is not hugely relevant, having more money would be useful in optimising your 2/1 upgrades.

There is no bigger vote winner than Best in this draft.

I wouldn't go into a semi with Mark Hughes upfront, the only reason EAP scraped past in the QF was he faced an unknown quantity of a defence. Even then people wondered whether he would ever score. Best would be great, but so are Finney and Johnstone. Any of them will do so long as he gets a striker suitable for this level.

Where's @Chesterlestreet? What jumped at me in his last game was he needs a non-English RW and a bit more scan-vote friendliness. Is there a giant handbag on its way? With a six-pack inside? That would hurt.

Seems to have reignited the bidding on Georgie

Go on Chester, enough with the bargain-hunting, you show them who's boss
