All time British+Irish Fantasy Draft

Sorry Pat, had been up since 4.30 yesterday. Happy to go whenever.

No problem mate! I'm not sure about my gaffer Skizzo's schedule, but I'm sure one of us will be around if @crappycraperson wants to set it up whenever. Although there's two games going on now so I'm fine with it being left until Edgar vs Annah finishes too.

Interesting that the three with most money remaining will go through. Will be interesting to see how/where they choose to reinforce.

Budgets/dosh in hand:

1. Skizzo/Pat: 30m
2. EAP: 15m
3. Stobz: 14m & Chester: 14m
4. Gio: 10m OUT
5. MJJ/mani: 9m
6. Raees: 2m
7. Annah: 0 OUT

Got some tough decisions to make...

Got some tough decisions to make...

The elephant in the room is whether you bank on the Beckham-Charles and a left winger route. And your central Scots.

Personally I'd look at Ince and Lawro as the ones that stick out like sore thumbs.

In Gaz-Becks you have a compelling story. In them and Charles + a winger on the other side you also do. That winger could be improved... but works well with your central teammates of his, another compelling story (one that probably won't win a final, but won't lose it either). Not your number 1 priority IMO.

1) In Moore you have the pick of the draft at the back, get him someone who will make that a core strength.
2) Replacing Ince would be my way of galvanising that midfield core, there's a very obvious target there. D'oh!
3) Then Dunne could do with an upgrade, but I'm not sure there's any worth blowing cash on, not off the top of my head. Looking at the winger Gemmell (still in), looking at Moore (deployed left) Wilson (looks like staying in).

Agree with most of what you've said. With Becks and Nev, and the Lions, I've enjoyed plugging them since I don't think they've ever been appreciated in a draft setting before.

They've certainly grown on me, I've actually watched a few games of theirs over the last week or so. I've mentioned it before, here in Uruguay we have a bit of a soft spot for Scotland and, when it comes to football, Celtic. The latter is more a Peñarol than Uruguay thing, we have great memories from that golden decade and a half of international battles at club level. It was a brave new world and we have a lot of time for the clubs which provided us with a challenge and a yardstick (Real, Benfica, Inter and Celtic, no idea why we never played United, or any English team for that matter).

We'll be in position to bid for just one player:(

What happened to 9? I stayed up so I could be around...now all of a sudden it's happening at 4am here?

Yeah that seems unfair. Was it already stated in advance that the starting bid for the semis has to be 30? If not it's unfair to some (Mjj/Mani) as they wouldn't have been able to plan for it.

It should really stay at 20m since it was never mentioned that the minimum bid would keep rising as the game progresses.

A maximum of 2 players can be bought by team in the auctions after R16, QFs and only one after semis.

You already had this rule so am not sure what increasing the minimum bid price every round achieves. Also, all players are suppose to discard players once their squad reaches 15 so they should be available as well?

Pretty much on the money. There is gold to be had in midfield to upgrade Ince with a couple of Lawro improvements available who shouldn't cost the earth. The Celtic/United players as Anto says are worth keeping as they're part of a bigger story that will generate votes.

I agree with this. It makes the advantage the moneybags have even bigger, particularly once you already set this max reinforcements rule.

With only one reinforcement after the semi and not knowing who that could be, you would certainly try to get two here and ensure you complete the team. This makes the maximum bid on any one player 34-39-40 and 55 respectively. Basically Raees and Pat can most likely get anyone they want if they bid 40M. In fact, they can almost guarantee their top two picks at 40M a head.

For next round it will be 30m and a single nomination.

It's not really an auction then as no one has any use for leftover money, just one pick each and the one with more money picks first.

TBF crappy did mention that after the semis you only get one pick and two before then so I dont have any problem with that.

Yeah, that's fine, I'm only pointing out the flaws in that for future reference.
