That one man is bound to be a very, very, happy man. Unless someone wants two keepers, which is fecking stupid. Mind you, @Cutch did it once getting two Krauts when the only draft restriction was... nationalities. :wenger:

If I understand the Non PL Stars category right he could very well pick up his man in the next round with extremely slight chances of anyone trying to outbid him. Well played, that. Has to be said that the idea of not letting the keeper round become a pure walkover didn't work out, though. Given that you could nominate without bidding (which I didn't think you could for that round, in fairness) it wasn't all that risky. At worst someone else nominates the big boy – and you pick up a decent keeper later on without breaking a sweat.

Or for that matter - you simply pick up Seaman who certainly ain't worse than many of the names on that list. Nobody's gonna care too much about keepers anyway - as per usual.

It also has something to do with the 6 English players only in the first team rule.

Very true. Easiest way to get one of 'em sorted.

EDIT That came out wrong. I'm getting dizzy from drinking too much coffee. Better switch to the beer.

Finney for Gazza. Charles is debatable. Defence bar Moore is debatable too.

Stiles is HIGHLY debatable.

I still think Law is better than Charles up front in terms of talent/entertainment value, he's a more multifaceted striker who'd still be sublime in the modern game whereas Charles was a brilliant old school forward (if we're not discussing his CB prowess). On the other hand Charles done it in a foreign league which Law had the chance to play in and didn't succeed, so yep falls to pieces that argument. Also isn't there more complete hardmen than Stiles in the draft?

Definitely.

Arguable too if you need a destroyer in that role. A defensively solid player should do it – and then heap some skills on top of that.

We all love Nobby – but he was a limited player compared to many of the alternatives here.

You should have Given in the sticks there as well.

I have 5 players, need a minimum of 5 more nominations before the auction draft starts. I am sure @crappycraperson has a solution for it, it was brought up as an issue from the start that people may end up with sheep picks.

You mean as in: people get sheeped if they end up short of the dozen?

If you have ten men before the snake and no cash - you're fecked. Snakes cost money. So in that scenario I would think sheeping is the only solution.

In my opinion, with the restrictions in mind;
Byrne+Best partnership on the left - Armfield+Matthews one on the right picks themselves for having played together and individually Armfield and Byrne are not individually worse than the rest in a way that makes up for it.

Charlton, Moore and Charles have to be in it as well - which means there is no room for a Englishman in the central midfield.

-----Best----Charles----Matthews
-------------Charlton--------------

Byrne---Hansen---Moore---Armfield

Leaves you with two non-English midfielders and then it turns to a tactical question more than anything. Mackay is the best DM, Keane best B2B and Blanchflower the best ball playing central midfielder.

So much is clear. But the situation we are discussing is if a manager stays within limits - but the "nominations" runs out - which would mean

1. The other managers gets to nominate the pick of the manager.
2. The manager gets to nominate players in the last round until he gets the necessary players.

After all the amount of supposed nominations has changed a few times since the draft started and with the last rule changes - it was noted but not further discussed that this may happen.

No conclusion on what would happen was stated back then so nobody has a clue on how it will go down, but it has to be solved.

Can't I just get a few extra nominations from those who don't want more? Barney and MJJ are in the same position pretty much so they should share anything I would get.

Nevermind, crappy - I thought you'd gone insane and were referring to the forward round. This round is the Non PL one, right?

That one man is bound to be a very, very, happy man. Unless someone wants two keepers, which is fecking stupid. Mind you, @Cutch did it once getting two Krauts when the only draft restriction was... nationalities. :wenger:

Yep, retarded.

Speaking of which, remember when Gio had 2 keepers in a previous draft (decades) against me and due to a balls up with a pick it looked like he was gonna have to play Buffon upfront . Luckily for him i let him pick again

Can't I just get a few extra nominations from those who don't want more? Barney and MJJ are in the same position pretty much so they should share anything I would get.
Part of auction draft is that you have to but what is in front of you. (Though we do have 2 snake rounds to balance this somewhat)

Everyone will be nominating 2 players this round - 24 players. Any frivolous nominations like Heskey can be removed by myself or @Balu

I salute ye, brother!

Smithwicks, eh? That would be tasty right about now, actually. One for tomorrow's shopping list. Are you a stout man, Mustard?

I originally switched from Guinness to ale as I disliked having to wait for the Guinness to settle when I ordered it at the bar, rabid booze hound that I am . Still partial to the odd stout but almost always Guinness. I did buy a bottle of this recently, but it was ropey as feck:

I should have bunged Buffon up front. Fall by the sword and all that. He was only up against Nesta if I remember.

Aye, and then he had the opportunity to strengthen with some of the top Germans - probably Rummenigge, Matthaus or someone of that ilk - and the best option would've been to use a reinforcement pick on a third keeper.
