If we give in and allow players (and agents) to rule over their employers then there will be anarchy.

Well, not anarchy, but the logical conclusion of this is that players end up emplyed on the same basis as you or I, and can just hand in their notice and go play somewhere else. There would be no transfer fees (something the agents pushing for these things would to well to think about!), and from the point of view of those who are happy for football to be treated as a business like any other, this wouldn't be a problem. In fact the "you can't legislate specially for football, it's just a buiness like any other" crowd should be actively supporting this.
Personally I think it will just help speed up the on-going breakdown of the sport. I'm beginning to think that in a coule of decades I may have to find another passtime to be obsessed with, the way things are going.

This is amazing, a real education. I didn't think much of the modern contents of the UK these days, but you lot have just proved it.! You silly twats, mostly, are falling for Calderon's games, hook, line and sinker. No wonder he thinks he's on a winner with feckin' idiots like you lot. The 'he's a cnut, sell 'im!' mob, pathetic.

exactly!

SAF nor David Gill are required to respond, just sit back and let these idiots continue to make a fool of themselves, just let them know that Ronaldo is 'NOT FOR SALE'

Thats where we are now making the mistake, I want us to sell the fecking cnut.

I wish he's put in a transfer request, but the greedy twat won't do that because it would cost him.

How's that then, oh great superior mind?

I always knew this is going to happen, especially after Cristiano said Figo is his idol.

So true.

Strange how Figo seems to have been forgotten by everyone except the Portuguese. He left a club that would have guaranteed him legendary status for more money and flavor of the month status. Every other galactico that came after him is more revered than him, even Beckham despite being an inferior footballer. And I believe thats all down to how he departed Barca, something Barcelona fans haven't forgiven him about yet. Ronnie may win player of the year, but he'll never be adored in the footballing world unfortunately. He's just not likable.

There's something about those portuguese...

What I don't get is... why don't Madrid make a bid?
The player doesn't need persuading, there's no need for them to try and talk to him, or otherwise engineer things in an underhand way. It's the club that needs persuading, so why don't they start by making an offer? That's how transfers normally pan out isn't it? And it's all above board.

I guess you haven't seen the statement from the club itself. The player is not for sale and we are not listenening any offers. The club isnt the fans that want to get rid and do exactly what madrid and everyone expected in doing all this.

So what's the point in trying to unsettle him? We're certainly not going to sell him for less than he's worth, they'd be lucky to get their man at full price!

But Madrid's strategy seems to be to unsettle him, to get him to burn his bridges, to get the club and the fans so pissed off at him that we unload him for less than his value. I hope that Real don't get him on the cheap, but it looks to me that is what they are trying to do, because I don't believe they can afford 75 million to spend on Ronaldo.

It's not a mistake, if we continue to say he's not for sale, then were forcing, either Real Madrid to make an offer or Ronaldo to put in a transfer request, if either happens, then we'll have to make a decision.

But Ronaldo's been a part of it all. I still think Fergie's too stubborn to sell him, despite his attempts to burn his bridges with everyone except a couple of love stricken posters on here.

NO, He's just a cnut. Anyone doubt his words or think any of it has been miscontrued by media bollocks.Where have all his Red Cafe suppporters gone now? How have you been so blind all summer? I can understand that you might choke with his cock so far down your throats but does that affect your eyesight and ability to see too?

Most of us are not for Ronaldo we are for United and if Fergie wants to keep him then I will support that whatever Mr Corrupt Blatter or anyone else says. Also it is time to stop both Madrid and players getting just what they want everytime.

I dont know. Sir Alex will be beyond talking now. The Hairdryer™ will be cranked up to full volume and pointed straight at Ronaldo.

Nah, don't agree. He's not for sale, end of story. Fergie'll carry on as normal. He's no factual reason to do otherwise. Don't think he watches 'Big Brother'. I certainly don't think he'll 'hairdry' Ronaldo. He's knows his players and he knows Madrid. He'll be sympathetic.

Think it's also to do with the fact that Calderon is unconvinced, He's wants Ronnie to prove it by making the first official move. It's not just some of our fans that are dubious. If the shoe was on the other foot, firstly I'd be embarrassed by Gill and I'd certainly be very uncertain as to Ronnie's intentions. I wouldn't want him and if Gill said all this crap was for 'business' reasons, I definitely wouldn't want him!

If the greedy cnut stays, he'll get his hairdryer tretment on the pich, the Boos he got 2 years ago from other teams will be nothing to whats going to hit him at O/T .

What's interesting is that Blatter went apoplectic when the same thing he is now proposing nearly happened in the case of the Hearts player who had to buy out his contract.

Odd, that...

Blatter is all about how much his palm is greased...the man is dog shit personified...

England and some of the European countries should have the balls to actually get together and threaten to leave FIFA....I mean without Europe FIFA is almost The SA confederation...Asia have large numbers but that is not where the money is in world football.

this is NOT good for the team, why should you 'know' better than fergie?
its statments like this that are playing into real madrid and fifa's hands.. i feel that you are quite an emotional person, understandably you are upset and thus showing you emotions.. i think somebody need a hug!
..or at least a pimms;)

The one good thing that'll hopefully come out of all of this is that we'll go back to the 4-4-2, and stick Rooney in his natural position and feck ronaldo off back to the wing - lets see how well he performs there... the cnut.

If football is slavery then...

Exactly. Madrid have tried everything to get Utd sit and agree a deal but it was all useless. We have made no secrets that no matter what we are not going to sell and are not listening offers.

As the Ronaldo saga reached a frozen point in the last weeks they got Blatter to revive any news with his pathetic comments and exactly as they planned made the effect they wanted. They can fool the entire world if they want but they wont fool Fergie and Utd.

We wont give anything to them and wont even make the same statement every single day about what we have already said many so many times.

There is no doubt that Ronaldo has been part of all this, I just wonder what's the next thing he or Real will pull if this doesn't work?

Unless United have decided that Ronaldo is staying as a matter of principle, or even in the believe that we can't afford to be pushed around by Real Madrid, it is better sell now rather than in 6 weeks time.

I have to believe that United have planned or are planing for a worse case scenario, where they have identified the replacements for Ronaldo and are ready to bring in those replacements if in fact Ronaldo is sold to Real Madrid.

In regard to Fergie's or United's stubbornness, the longer this drags on the greater the chance that we run the risk of having a load of money but no time to bring in replacements.
