They only make $20m turnover a ear, no idea about profit. This can hardly be a lucrative sponsorship, but then I guess all the pennies and pounds add up.
If they've got a thousand employees, that's 2000 ears, at $20m per ear, that's $40 bn in total turnover, which in turn means huge profits, must be a huge sponsorship deal!

At first I read it as $20m per employee and I was thinking wtf is this guy on about, then I saw you going on about ears and then I was thinking this guy has lost the plot. Then I read my post, doh.

Maybe we can put out a sponsor eleven to play Wigan.

I think Aon are feeling neglected since Chevrolet joined and took their position as the star of the sponsorship team. I think they can work very well together for us, but Aon will have to play a deeper role behind Chevy, which might be difficult for Aon to accept after their years upfront, and risks causing them to make a push to join Chelsea. Or something...

Any news on the new Nike deal? Exclusive negotiating period (6 months) must be up by now I would think.

Woodward nowhere to be seen on the pic!

Edit: Cue someone to say that he's hiding in the turban.

Why they bother announcing this whoring all the time baffles me. Nobody gives a flying feck. It's just cringeworthy.

I meant on the club media. I know they are duty bound to officially announce it.

Again, this should be basic to anyone who has heard of the concept of sponsorship.

Yeh alright you've made your point. It was a rhetorical statement not intended to garner a response. I'm well aware of why it finds it way on there, and I know that anything of a similarity in future, will also find it's way on there.

I "get" sponsorship of this kind....i just don't give two shits about it.

Ok?

Getting mardy about something which is utterly commonplace (and calling it "cringeworthy") and then saying you don't give two shits about it. Saying you were "baffled" why United were doing it and then saying you're "well aware" in the next post. Nonsensical drivel, carry on.

At what point was I mardy? You think having tyre or noodle partners are "commonplace?" The general whoring of Manchester United's name in order to sell tyres, noodles, whatever the feck we partner next...is actually cringeworthy to me.

The baffling is not one of puzzlement as you infer, frustration actually. Being well aware of why they do it does not mean I cannot be baffled by it.

Carry on?

It's just good business, it's good for the club.

Carry on moaning about utterly normal, everyday things like corporate sponsorship. The rest of your post is a train-wreck.

People moaning about the sponsorship deals probably do realize that Club has separate departments for Player Acquisition and Marketing?

All this moaning about this is so cringeworthy.

To be fair its less immoral than clubs living off the finances from oppressors from the Middle East, or even the Russian mafia.

Ironic.

What.

If anyone is moaning here mate it's you to be fair.

Wait....WHAT!?

Accurate observation is a scarcity amongst those who have a lot of time on their hands.

Yes it is ironic really that a massive deal is presented to the world when the club signs another sponsorship......yet nobody actually does give a feck about it. That was the general observation I was making. Tyres, paint, noodles whatever it just doesn't interest the average supporter.

Baffle: Multiple meanings of the verb include bewilder, puzzle, frustrate, perplex

In this case I used baffles as a transitive verb with announcement denoting the noun or direct object. Don't see what the issue is to be fair, verbs can take on multiple meanings applied to different sentences. Yawn.

And I wasn't moaning....it was a flippant comment. Glad you all had a gas anyway.

They are accretive deals that any listed business would announce. The biggest ones will require a stock market announcement because they can move the share price, but any business would announce the smaller ones too, because they are indicative of the club's ability to attract lucrative sponsorship deals. They are not really aimed at the fans, who won't give a feck if we are the 'official tyre partner' of whoever in Uzbekistan.

Cheers. If the news is plastered all over Apollo's official site I could understand it better than dedicating pages to club media where people don't give much or any consideration to it. Fair enough if it is something extraordinary like the Chevrolet link-up, but official tyre partner? I suppose there are initiatives with it such as the pitch-building etc. so perhaps in hindsight there is some worth to it.
