Are you serious? So that's a very clear indication of who we are gonna get...

We may just add a striker (or Tevez) and him and we are sorted... I think Alexis is better than Ronaldo when he arrived around 6 years ago.. and he has all the ingredients to be a great great player..

It does say hes talked with other English clubs so its not like we are dead on to sign him, but i recall him saying in the past he does want to play for United

Yea exactly.. I know for sure that if he is coming to England it is most likely to be us..

Breaking news just in…
Alexis Sanchez acknowledges the physicality of the English Premier League, and is preparing accordingly.

Unless he pulls the old 'robinho routine' on us.

I doubt it.. There has been a long standing interest from us and I can totally see it happening now.. Moreover it looks less and less likely that we can get either Ribery or any other high profile winger.. Also that is not how SAF works.. I would love to see us get Ribery but I will be extremely pleased if we end up getting Alexis..

The only other teams that could possibly be competing are Chelsea and Liverpool.. But Honestly we are in desperate need of a winger & yet again we were quoted to have made a bid too..

Has anyone noticed that all the players we're linked with have girl's names?

Antonia Valencia
Alexis Sanchez
Karen Benzema
Danielle De Rossi
Sarah Aguero
Jan Huntelaar

The future is female.

I was also hoping you'd notice the sponsor on the player dribbling..

Holy shit take that photo out of here I never thought I had to look at an America shirt in the caf, how disgusting.

That's a bit unfair as the player only has one hand.. Sanchez took it off earlier in the game.

Could Valencia be a smokescreen or could we be getting both.

ive never seen him play before...is he a better prospect than Valencia?

Well that depends. Valenica could almost instantly improve our first 11, in my opinion, though clearly not replace Ronaldo, as some transfer muppets appear to crave.

Sanchez, on the other hand, needs a team that is prepared to allow him to make mistakes, and develop his undoubted ability. Italy isn't really the place for a young player like that. I've seen Sanchez roughly 8-10 times, which is not nearly enough to give an honest assessment, contrary to what is often the case on here. Everything that I have seen of him, though, suggests that he has many of the qualities of Ronaldo, which is why people have made the comparison. However, as I've already said, he's still very raw, and would need at least 2 seasons to develop in to anything like the player that many believe that we need.

I disagree, and would much rather us buy a player like Sanchez, and give him time to develop, than spend £60m on a 26 year old, who may still need a year or two, to get used to the Premier League, only to be a few years away from the inevitable decline, due to age.

I'd be delighted if we bought either/both.

Sounds to me like his agent is going around England whoring out his client.

I know but this is going to smoothly even the chairman seems to eager for a deal.

Well, Wigan haven't been making problems for players or managers who want to take a step up (Palacios and Bruce as recent points), and Whelan has always shown great respect for United and Sir Alex. He knows it's a great chance for Valencia and that he'll get good money, so what's the point?

Every summer people talk about smokescreens, but I think that's utter crap. You move for players you want. Sometimes circumstances change, but you never go for a player knowing full well you don't intend to sign him.

It pretty much depends on flair players like Sanchez, Ronaldo and Nani. IMO Sanchez could develop in something truly special for us. He's more of a direct winger, same style as Ronaldo, but may be little more mature than him at the respective age.

Surely at the moment Sanchez is not someone who could single handedly replace Ronnie, but he has much much more potential than someone like Valencia.
I have watched him fairly enough to have a assessment of my own, as Udine was one of the best performing teams in the league at home this season in Seria A. The lad has massive potential, but he can't walk straight into the first eleven. He has much less responsibility in Udine, let alone to pile the pressure on him to replace Ronaldo.

WHat he lacks in comparison to Ronnie though is the physical presence. And I don't mean only due to his height and weight. He'd be more useful out wide penetrating than moving like Ronaldo and going into the box. He's not one of the high scoring wingers, but can create mess. His shooting also isn't one of the best, and I rate Nani highly in that respect(if he sorts out his decision making). Sanchez dribble is much closer to Aguero, rather to Ronaldo's. He has the typical latin style of dribble with the ball close to his feet, changes swiftly the direction and is rather more often unpredictable than not.

Basically a 10 mil pounds bid would be a shrewd deal for Sanchez. He could and most probably should develop into a top played given the right guidance.

But take the Nani/Anderson deal we all knew we were looking at Nani but no one had any clue about Anderson, we used the Nani deal to hide our intensions of signing Anderson. Yes we got the players we wanted but we managed to cover up the intensions of one of the signings because he was in demand by other clubs - i know that Barca along with Chelsea were interested in him, so by using the Nani 'smokescreen' by saying he was our only target we cut straight to the front of the line to get Anderson.

In cases like this we can say we are interested in Valencia but go for another target in hopes to get a cheaper deal/supprise the supporters. Either way smokescreens do exist and we have used them in the past to get teh players we want

Manchester United have pinpointed Udinese youngster Alexis Sanchez as the ideal replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo.

The Chilean is nicknamed ‘El Nino Maravilla’ and at the age of 20 has already impressed in his debut Serie A season.

He scored three goals in 32 appearances for Udinese, though above all he has provided numerous assists for his more experienced teammates.

Manchester United are seeking a hot young star after accepting Real Madrid’s £80m offer for Ronaldo.

It is reported they are willing to hand over £20m to tempt Udinese into selling Sanchez this summer.

He could be more appetising than their other target, Roma striker Mirko Vucinic, because of his tender age and more creative style

Channel 4 are quite reliable right?

I would say we would need to go as high up as £15-17m to get him..

He's an important part of Bielsa's Chile's success in the world cup qualifiers. I would take the bet on him.

When he was at Colo Colo Matias Fernandez, Suazo, and him were playing and scoring for fun, I thought Fernandez was going to be the one to make it though, I still believe he can break through la liga with Villarreal. But Sanchez's progress has been quite good and he has matured as a player now and I think it wouldn't be crazy if we signed him.

I'm an expert now. The lad has skills.

Well, here's the best eye fest from him:

However trouble with youtube clips is well known.. He has skills no doubt, but there's a long shot for him to be a starter in the first team.

true though, many, many question marks regarding his adaptability to a more physical game, not to mention, the pressure of playing for a club like United. I think he falls a bit short on several accounts, but we'll see. He's better than Mark Gonzalez, thats for sure :D

It's hard to like other wingers after Ronaldo. They all seem sub-standard.

:(

Well if Lennon can do it with his physical game, sure Sanchez can too.

Lennon is strong, despite how small he is, certainly stronger than Sanchez, and a lot quicker. Besides Im not sure Lennon has really made it, he has his good games, but still is tremendously inconsistent, he wouldnt be a success at United.

True that. He would have to get stronger.
