Alexis Sanchez | Done deal

Something doesn't add up. City were ready to spend £60m in August and suddenly not willing to go above £20m now. I call bull.

A sensible poster above mentioned this as a tactic to Sanchez and his agent to get in line with their requests, and they probably will with him wearing a City shirt by the end of the window.

Let's consider our name being used from the start to get City to pay more, even if that's true now is the perfect time to enter this seriously and throw our offer.

The hypocrisy of framing this as "Pep's wondershow or money". The least people could do is add "more" to money. City's ascension is about nothing other than money.

Bookies making us favourite now is something.

I mean, it's not much, but it is something.

All of the press is so far pep's arse they can probably taste the food is chewing.
If city get this deal done, "United are shit negotiators who couldnt convince sanchez to sign, should have gotten him at any price etc."
If united get the deal done,"He moved cause of money, oh pep we love you, where is your arse i need to kiss it".

Was bound to happen - Manchester United and Jose Mourinho is a wholly unpalatable alliance to most within football - particularly journalists.

Sounds awful.

I know a lot of the big names prefer the London lifestyle to that of other cities but I suppose it's not so big a transition culturally/weather-wise. Especially when he already appears willing to move to Manchester.

At the minute I’m mostly wanting this to happen because it would be funny. When I’ve watched him this season he’s looked a step short. Whether that’s because he hasn’t given a shit or because he’s declining is difficult to tell.

Does the guy actually want to play for us?

He a fantastic player, but we've seen how stroppy he can be when things don't go his way. It seems that he's desperate to go and play for Pep, but City are unwilling to spend the money necessary this month.

It seems to me that if he does come here it will be purely for the money? Not sure what to think of that.

What BS. The main reason being reported why he's not going to City is because City refuse to pay Arsenal.

If he is desperate to leave Arsenal this month and only one club is in for him then he joins that club

Dunno, I'd imagine the bookies are mostly just going on what's reported and don't have too much insider info. If something comes out soon suggesting he's likely to go to City again the odds will quickly switch back. Wouldn't pay too much attention to them.

I don't understand how Malcom, a left footed rw, is supposed to be Arsenal's replacement for Sanchez, a right footed lw.

Ramos, kroos, fabregas story all over again i feel. Every agent and club using us for more money.
I guess that with malcolm is the same thing

I think the journalists have got the wrong end of the stick here. City being unwilling to pay more than £20m doesn't mean that he must now be coming to United. It means that City are putting pressure on Arsenal to sell for £20m or else lose him for nothing (to City) in the summer.

Is it just me that hates journos with a passion?
Good journalism is an art. Unfortunately the days of McCilvaney, Green,Glanville are long gone.

Glanville onece told me,shortly before retiring that if Kay was able to be chief football writer then anyone could

You have to laugh at the pure absurdity of City being displayed as some sort of bastion for financial restraint in this deal, makes you wonder if people write this stuff with a straight face.

If we are interested we will definitely pay more than 20m.

Interesting this. Think it will be done by midweek.

Sounds like it's moving faster than that even. But then again half the news could be made up to get people going. Feel like it could be done tomorrow though, whichever way it goes.

This is a non starter for me unless Chillivision get in on the act...

I don't see a problem with the fee.

Yes, he's in his last 6 months of his contract. But on the other hand we'd be getting a ~90m player (in todays market) for about a third of his actual value.

Question if Alexis was in contract for Arsenal and we were trying to sign him, how much do you think he would cost (regardless of his age and considering Coutinho's recent sale)? In that context are the fees being talked about that stupid?

As a neutral United need Sanchez and City could go on without him and not have any problems

United should be doing everything to sign him, he's a world class player who gets into any starting 11

If it means spending £70 million on a guy with 6 months on his contract United should do it and not even think twice about it

This, yes it would suck spending that much when he only has 6 months on his contract, but we have to think how much he would cost if he was in the middle of a contract. 30/40/50 whatever it costs to get player of his quality is worth it by any stretch in this market.

You have to factor in the £20-30million payment to Sanchez as well so it would be in the region of £60 million I think

70-80m I believe.
