When we signed Lukaku, Ed came with the "smokescreen" tactic using Morata. When we sign Sanchez, he comes with the swap tactic.

What will Ed do in our next transfer ?

Perhaps Hazard with 2 years left on his contract, we'll make a move for him next year, Woodward loves big signing names like Bale, Hazard, Dybala, Griezmann, etc.

Journalists however, lie for a living and there are no repercussions

You need to understand the laws that govern what the media can say. There's a reason you always see phrases like "it's understand that [rumor]," or "it's believed that [rumor]." Those are the key phrases that allow them to not be legally jeopardized.

In the case of the Sun article you linked to, they're quoting a source -- another Sun article -- for much of the garbage they lay out in it. And the second Sun article is quoting a Gianluca Di Marzio tweet.

So they're legally not lying because they're just "reporting" on rumors and other reports. It's a dirty game, and they know that most non-news people don't know the rules they're playing by.

Is the same cavalier attitude that Rangers had prior to going into administration twice...and still not entertaining anyone.

There’s a gulf and a half between what Rangers did, spending beyond their means for years on end, paying poor/mediocre players fortunes and what Man Utd are doing by signing a proven superstar for money well within their budget.

Expensive, yes. Cavalier, absolutely not.

Good Morning everyone. Its Sanchez day I believe, hope his medical and announcement happens today.:)

any predictions for when we should get the confirmation tweet?

I'm almost certain we got one for lukaku that said (pending medical). So i imagine it's a first in the morning kind of announcement?

I think it will be one announcement with him in the shirt and everything now followed by interviews. 6pm ish is my guess.

In this case I think they're just going to announce the transfers after the medicals are completed.

I had a bad day today.. Had a huge argument with the missus, broke a desk in anger (anyone has an idea how to fix a hole in a wooden desk) and on top of that they give me another tag.

Ffs. :(

Please Sanchez don't wait
My tag lines ain't great
And my Mrs is riled
My soul slides away
Broke a desk in anger
You heard me say

Please sign today

wonder what people in Chile think of this. these days a substantial amount of people that i see from south america on twitter are "city fans", which is explainable since they are playing well and all but yeah, would like to have some insight into how the chilean football fans feel about this

Well surely there are some new city fans that popped up in the last years but there is an important man utd fanbase here. The sport journalists seem a bit divided about if he should had gone to city or utd but today finally they have accepted that hes coming to united

Myself i couldnt be happier because here i support Colo-Colo and also i support manutd since a long time ago so to me that one of my idols to play in my two fav clubs in the world is an amazing feeling  imagine that i watched a 17 yo Alexis live here at estadio monumental. Now i have to manage to go to old trafford to watch him live there soon :D

Does anyone else think the chant Woooaahho, Alexis on fire to the tune of Sex on Fire has some potential?

Fantastic! Start saving up ;)

Probably £300-350k. City balked at £250k so I can't see it being £400k+.

We'll never really know, but generally speaking big sign-on fees are amortised over the duration of the contract. So I wouldn't be surprised if Sanchez was receiving 400-450k a week from United, but that would not be salary alone.

In the grand scheme of things it's all the same really isn't it? One club offers 50m salary (over 4 years) and 20m sign on fee and another club offers 40m salary with 30m sign-on fee, ultimately it's the same outlay structured differently.

I reckon we must have offered him a pretty hefty sign-on fee, maybe (finger in the air) £30m or something, on top of a salary in the 250-300k range. That would put him in the 400-450k pw bracket in terms of total (certain) money being received per week.

Here in Chile the people and the press are happy and delighted that he leaves arsenal, a team rated as a bunch of loosers with no ambition. You can hear that in our local press or the continental networks like directv or Fox Sports. The most common opinion it was that it was a win/win for Sanchez, nevertheless most of our press fancied United over City for several reasons, historic ones, United is more popular and is see as a team with more mistic and with more trophies and winner mentality provided by Alex Fergusson at the time, a more traditional team and not a petrodollar SA. Other reason is a bit silly, but it is bacause they are mad with PEP because Bravo is in the bench (I would do the same, his last season was awful), some press likes City for their football and because they like Guardiola and dislikes some of the Mourinho's behaviour (he has a lot of fans too), but recognizes that Sanchez could do better at United because Sanchez like to be the key man at the attack and that would be impossible at City were the key man is De Bruyne and Sanchez already lived that situation in Barcelona with Messi. United is very popular here and will be more popular now, Chile has some links like the ones with Concha y Toro (Casillero del Diablo) and now with Sanchez the coverage will be over that. So best luck to Sanchez, to United and sorry for the mistakes.

Jamo Jackson said 500k a week and a straight swap.

Whatever.

Is it too early to get a life size tattoo of his face on my back?

That's really good to hear. thanks guys.

I can't believe we're getting Alexis for Mikhi. This is unbelievable. Does Arsenal not see how much they're being robbed here?

Enjoyed reading that. I hope you manage to watch him at OT.

So wait. We are paying 20m to arsenal and 15m to the agent and in a separate deal selling mkhi to arsenal for 35m then surely arsenal have to pay us 15m?

One has 5 months of contract left, the other one has 3 and half years. So technically, Sanchez is valued 7 times more.

I'm From Chile and a DIE-HARD ManUnited Fan since Cantona, and i Can tell you EVERY news here in national TV is about this transfer saga, and everyone says is a historic one. The chilean reporters an sport experts are discussing, in deed, wich trasnfers was the most important of Chilean football history, comparing these one with the "real madrid - inter milan trasnfer" of Zamorano in 99's. Is like unreal to be honest. And my personal childhood dream.

And about the Fans thing, Here in Chile are a lots of Devils Fans, even considering there have not play none Chilean player in the history of the club. is like 60/40 considering the Pep Hype.

Sorry About my English jeje GGMU !!:devil:

Everyone who's us. We basically signed Alexis Sanchez for 25 mil (Micky's fee from Dortmund).
It's good for Arsenal too. He's not been great for them this season and was going to leave at some point anyway. They got a replacement in too, so one less player to worry about signing.

lolwut?

I keep seeing the duration of his current Arsenal contract bandied about. It has zero relevance. The fees United are paying Arsenal aren't to purchase the services of Alexis Sanchez for 6 months. They're to stave off the pursuit from other clubs. If instead United wait until the summer window, City would roll the current transfer fee and agent's fee into Sanchez's contract, and United would match it or raise it. Same monetary figures. And other clubs would also join the auction and likely drive the price even higher still.

Sanchez is signing a new, 4-year contract with United. Mkhitaryan is doing the same with Arsenal. Their current contracts are irrelevant.

Lolwut.

Of course they are relevant. Arsenal wouldn’t trade him for Mkhi if he had another 3 years on his contract would they? They asked for 60m in the summer. And they asked for 30m now. How is the length of the remaining contract irrelevant in the valuation?

Do you even football bruh?

It doesn’t really work out like that though. Either way, Arsenal are the real losers here if you want to discuss value. They allowed a prized ‘asset’ to run his contract down rather than renewing. We whack him on a 4 year deal or whatever and suddenly his value will soar.
