We have other priorities transfer-wise. This is a luxury signing.

BUT he is mint.

BUUT, getting him could disrupt Martial & Rashford's development.

BUUUUT if you have the opportunity to get a top attacking player for £35m, you take it.

BUUUUUUT this will mean no Griezmann this summer....

:wenger:
At this point I don't care about that. They have had more than enough chances and have been too inconsistent to be constantly starting games, so being a squad player for a while may not be a bad thing. Plus Sanchez is probably better than what either of those 2 may develop into anyways.

For those worried about betting, its just where the money is going. For example, I've seen a few on here, back when City odds were longer, that they believed he was going to United but put money on him going to City so its a win-win for them. Money if he goes to City, great signing if he goes to United. Enough people do that sort of thing, and other reasons (media), and the odds change.

its funny how negative us fans get when positive news is around. People need to chill! all reputable journalists are pointing towards us signing him, but sure bob from guernsey think city are signing him and everyone goes mental.
Exactly. Just relax, the announcement will be made today or tomorrow and everyone can calm down a bit.

Has something turned in City’s favour? I usually see odds as a basic indication of how things are going or if something is happening, and last night we were at 1/5 and City 9/2

Now we’re both odds on and City much closer.
One known bullshitter on Twitter said this morning that city have outbid are wage offer and are now offering what arsenal want.

Doesn't sound like City have given up at all, unless it's just the media trying desperately to continue the United vs City narrative.

If Rashford is going to be good enough he will raise his game playing with world class players.
His form has been stunted this year already.
Yeah. Having to beat the best for a spot makes you the best. At Manchester United we shouldn't settle for anything less than that.

Been doing some scouting of Sanchez, and trying to figure out where we should play him and get the best out of him and the current side too.

Current position at Arsenal

At Arsenal, he plays inside left/second striker.. pretty much where Martial operates and where Lingard does too. Which at first glance presents a bit of a problem as that is where we are strongest, and those two are our biggest threats. No doubt, Sanchez is superior to either so if that is 100% his best position, the other two would have to move around to adapt.

Current position (Chile)

For Chile he used to play on the right, like at Barca but with more freedom to come in and playmake.. bit like Mata but combined with Nani if that makes sense. These days, he's more of a LW/10.. bit like at Arsenal but more direct.

Where will he play at United?

Its a tough one to call. I have seen calls to play him at striker.. but honestly, he drops very deep to even play as a false 9 and I don't think he has enough goals in him to put him as our de facto striker and older he gets, less pace he will have to be the lone forward. Therefore I see him operating behind a 9 for sure.

Now, is it behind the striker or on the right/left where we will see him. Once again, I would argue that whilst we should try and use him down the right in combination with Valencia.. the chances are, he will ask to be used in a free role.. more to the left and behind the striker. Which means either he takes Martials place down the left, or Lingards (who would shift to the right temporarily or be benched by end of the season).

I personally think Martial and Sanchez up top as a duo would be deadly, as a counter-attacking duo that is pretty scary. Him and Lukaku, would be decent but if we want the best out of Sanchez.. we need a fluid set up with plenty of runners, one-touch passing ala Chile/Arsenal. Making it too static would not suit him and would limit his impact.

So initially..

Martial Lukaku Sanchez
Lingard
Pogba Matic
With Sanchez interchanging Lingard, and if we get a RW this window.. Sanchez going central I think.

Martial Lukaku Lucas
Sanchez
Pogba Matic

Really tough to envision how his role will pan out and what signings we get. All I know is that the key is to build around him, as he is at his best when you don't put him in chains.

Top post as always. That front line looks tasty  but I’d feel that putting him in the centre right now would be a waste of his speed. Maybe in a couple of years he could do a Giggs and play there but personally I’d like to see Pogba get more of a run in that AM role and find Matic a partner who could provide stability and be a defensive anchor. I’m probably completely wrong though.

Is it bad that I really don't see a bad outcome in this? I mean:
1. Arsenal are losing Sanchez (Good)
2. He might go to City (Bad, but would he massively improve them? You can't do much better than what they've done this season.)
3. He might come to us (and he would massively improve us, especially from the right.

If ever City wanted to make a point about being more attractive to players/richer than us, this would be the perfect time.

The player by all accounts wants City
City won't pay over a certain amount
Probably unexpectedly we then come in
City just wait for us to agree a fee and package
Come in late and match it/slightly better it
Sanchez to City, United look stupid, journos who already brown nose Pep to oblivion have a field day
That might well be true, but it could be true of any player we try to sign.
We have to go after players we want and if City and Sanchez shaft us last minute then we have to take it and move on ( ala Chelsea and Lukaku)

But that's always been the problem. Reportedly, Sanchez would prefer to go to City, so if City were to match the offer they would get him. And it appears for the most part journos don't know exactly what's going to happen either, as you can see from their titles saying United have edged ahead, but not sounding entirely convinced we will sign him.
Hence, why I'm just waiting to see him in a United shirt, before I'm getting excited over this one.
