Alexis Sanchez | Done deal

Holy feck it's on!  If we snatch both Özil and Sanchez this window... I'll never zip my pants again.

Clearly there would be some cash going there way aswel as mikhi. But the answer to your question remains the same, if the reports are true, the reason we'd let mikhi go to arsenal over going abroad would be because he's a player they want that would help us get a player we want...ie sanchez

But our offering of Mkhi is irrelevant if Sanchez wants to go to City. Arsenal can't determine his destination.

If there is any truth in the story, then one would assume there is a credible chance that Sanchez would be willing to join United - otherwise it's a futile exercise.

I'd be pleased with this but I can't see him going anywhere but City. I suspect there is already an agreement in place.

It's a trick lol. Alexis' agent is trying to make City close the deal now that's why we're all of a sudden interested in Alexis.

If anything, I'd rather we try to get Ozil than Alexis.

Make it happen Woody.

Buy Sanchez and play him out of position?

I don't want him. He loves playing from the left so will just be taking more playing time from Martial.
We'd surely play him on the right. In a fluid front three, starting positions aren't as important anyway.

According to reports (Di Mazrio) if he signs for City in this window he get £15m signing on bonus instead of £30m if he signs in the summer because City will have to pay a fee. I bet he wants that full £30m to sign now. He wants mega money IMO, that is his primary concern, if City don't give him what he wants he will sign for us.
I agree he wants some mega money to sign, but it depends how much he wants to win the title. Obviously, it's likely that City would get another one if he signs a 3- or 4-year contract, but if he signs in January he's basically signing for a medal on top of his mountains of money. I think even if we offer him over £2million extra per year in wages, he would still go to City, for example. If City are willing to pay him in excess of £200k per week, I don't think there is much we can do as £300k a week would already be pretty silly and probably around the maximum we'd go to anyway.

He surely is. And he isn't very fond of Pep as he sold him to Arsenal against his will. Sanchez and Shaw will terrify every right back in the Prem.
Interesting how Pep sold him being a manager of Bayern :D

Would love him - but surely he would choose City. Play for one of the best teams in Europe right now (and a great attacking setup) and Pep or us where he won't get as much freedom. I know which I'd choose right now (if I was a neutral player :) )

Cue tomorrows back page in the Sun, Sanchez holding up a City shirt, Sanchez rejects Utd for City........etc

I like him as a player, he's got great quality. But he's off to City, isn't he? At least that has been the story for months. He'd surely find it much easier to get games here though, we can certainly match City's package I think, although there were those stories that Jose would have to sell before buying, Sanchez would be on a big contract wherever he goes. But at the minute City look much more attractive to move to.

Would like us to get him - the only reason he'd maybe not go to City is that getting as much game time is probably a little less likely. He would nail down the Right Forward position at United, while at City he'd have to try and displace Sane and Sterling. Doesn't sound difficult on paper, but they're in such good form and suit how City play, I'd expect quite a bit more rotation. The only other thing I can think of is if Aguero is planning on leaving for some reason, which I doubt, so playing as the no.10 is very unlikely.

The option of off-loading Mkhitaryan would suit Arsenal if we still offer a bit of cash on top, as they keep a decent player for a similar position and are forced to play Lacazette as the main striker which I'm sure Arsenal fans want to see even more of.

Either way, if Sanchez has as much of a say as we think, he'll go to City for a guaranteed Premier League title. It's Robin van Persie again to the more likely better side for the time being. Our only chance is if we are offering significantly more money, but he can probably do as well at City money-wise anyway, and it's a shoe-in for more immediate success.

Robin van Persie’s decision wasn’t to sign for the better side, it was to sign for the bigger club. City had just won the league.

Perhaps City are now a bigger club than us because they have Pep Guardiola or something.

Someone just wants City to pay up the required cash. Nothing story...

He won't accept a transfer here. He's turned us down twice already according to reports.

Sanchez was a City supporter as a kid. His influences include Kit Symons and Keith Curle.

Players who play on that right wing forward have freedom to roam infield. See Mata/Lingard/Mkhi. No one plays as a hug the line winger.

And isn't that part of our problem? Anyway even if he comes off the right hand side he still has a starting position that's completely the wrong side of the pitch

Tbh I've never been a massive fan despite even watching him live. He is athletic and quite explosive, and tenacious, but I dont think his skills are mindblowing. But for 25m its a great deal in this market and hopefully helps out the right side. I would have prefered Ozil but if he isnt available then so be it.

Lets see what happens.

Arsenal are obviously not making this up to tempt City, that would be ridiculous, and would just require one statement from us to dispel, making Arsenal look even weaker and more desperate at the same time.

*grabs pop-corn*

*remembers our strikers scored a combined 11 league goals and someone like alexis would be water in the desert right now*

Aaaand i've made myself sad and depressed :(

Has this been reported by anyone else aside from a guy working for Sky Sports Italy and Jamie Jackson?

I won't believe anything until its official. Remember how close we were signing Hazard, Pedro and Morata. What happened then? None of them arrived.

Well if it’s NOT true we will definitely go public and deny it soon, so let’s wait and see.

Maybe he would play in an interchanging front 3 with Lukaku and Martial. Sanchez isn't really a wide player, he is much better in between the lines.
