Alexis Sanchez / 1 year loan deal to Inter

IMO it's good to get rid of him, he has no desire nor motivation to play for us anyway.
Let's give those minutes to the youngsters, who knows if we'd get another Rashford or even Scholes.

Oh this has been fun while it lasted. I saw him in his last game for us at Chelsea. I wish I'd known this would happen and I'd have sung his name more.

I’m just glad that we’re culling. We aren’t going to be challenging for the title anytime soon, not with Klopp and Pep deep into their respective jobs.

I’ve said for a while that I think Ole might be good interim appointment for us; clear out all the dross, trim the wage bill and blood some youngsters. Would allow a new manager that follows him (Poch being the obvious candidate) a better base from which to build. Our squad has been bloated for years, in part due to chopping and changing managers/styles. That’ll take a season or two to fix. If we can shift Rojo and Darmian before the euro deadline, and one of Smalling, Jones or Bailly in Jan then we’ll look a lot leaner.

I kind of like that view - take time to reinstall the United soul. If we start seeing more of Gomes and Axel instead of Jesse and Smalling for instance, I'd actually be fine with finishing in the top 10 nevermind top 4. The problem is I don't see the hierarchy making the structural changes to accompany the reset. We need a DOF or anyone with footballing intelligence to come in and keep Ed from making decisions. Because should we go into another summer without CL, we need the right setup to sign motivated and not yet established potential that can take us back to the top 4. We shouldn't fall back into the habit of wasting time on big names and then lavish contracts.

If it keeps happening, it's not bad luck. Just bad management.

Yup.

There's always Andy Carroll for 35M.
I think given the wages, expectation, overall cost and general shiteness of Sanchez it's not even close. Everyone knew at the time that Carroll was shite and that 35m was bad, and they still got 20m back for him or something.

Exactly, which makes it a lot worse! With Sanchez, it was a reasonable expectation that he would actually be good.

You could say that Sanchez was ultimately even more of a miserable failure than Carroll - I'd even agree - but for sheer stupidity, that 35M cannot be beaten.

Yeah that's a pretty good point actually!

So Inter get him for free pay 40% of his wages and no obligation to sign him?
Utd must really want him gone.

It's happening guys. Im in Brescia at the moment and it's all over the news with him arriving today at Milan airport. Been teasing two Italian associates all day

According to times and some other outlets we will be paying 120k week and rest will be paid by Inter. So surely more than 40% will be paid by Inter. It definitely seems we want to get rid of him.

He hardly ever stuck the ball in the onion bag for us before, so what's the chances of that changing now?

We aren't winning the league this year, so why not give the time to our future talent that might actually get the job done?
Well he definitely won’t be if he’s not here will he? So it looks like we will be relying on future talent. Let’s watch this space.

Oh really? I just hate that youngester bla bla and we should wait 337379292 years for them to progress. Yes I agree it is good to get rid of him but is that the right time? You want to rely on Greenwood?

Good riddance. He's literally been the poster boy for all that's wrong at Utd. Now for Rojo, Jones, Darmian and the purge will be almost complete. My god we are run by incompetent idiots.

I just think for the money he's costing, we aren't getting anywhere near worth in talent back.

I'd rather cut our losses now while we still have a chance, as otherwise he be another year older and clubs less likely to take him on.

Maybe if he didn't get injured and lose all of pre season things could be different, but it's just been 1 great big mistake tbh.

I still can't believe this shit. We are keeping some complete dross in team for years but we basically gifted a player like Sanchez. This season was perfect chance for him to play a lot of games and proves things.

Do you remember how Rashford came to the light?
Do you believe Sanchez could replace Rashford and Martial? or he can deliver us something when needed? Obviously Ole doesn't and neither do I.

Well, let's pray for no injuries until january so we can actually sign an attacker...
Can't believe we have such a weak frontline :nervous:

By January Ole's situation will be in balance and we won't spend any money at all

At this point would rather give Ramazani and other players a chance with a few minutes and really blood Gomes and Chong.

I thought when players went ‘on loan’ the other club paid us. Reported that we are subbing £5m of his wages whilst he plays in Italy. WTF is that all about. No option to buy him either.

To be totally honest, I do agree we are short in attack and it is not right we didn't make any moves to replace both Lukaku and Sanchez knowing they were gone, but at the same time, like myself, everyone on here would be calling for Greenwood/Gomes/Chong to play instead whenever Sanchez would have played for us this season. He really isn't the player he was and now is a great time (patience will be key) to bed in these three youngsters and get them the experience, allow them to make mistakes but build upon the fantastic potential we know all three have.

I stole this from Reddit but here's one for you 'we should keep him as back up' bunch:

Goals per 90 minutes in all competitions

Bebe: 0.54 goals per 90 minutes

Sanchez Sanchez: 0.16 goals per 90 minutes

Djemba-Djemba: 0.07 goals per 90 minutes

Goals per 90 minutes in the Champions League

Bebe: 3.1 goals per 90 minutes

Djemba-Djemba: 0.25 goals per 90 minutes

Sanchez Sanchez: 0 goals per 90 minutes (375 total minutes played)

Yup.

I have a working theory that we already have our new DoF... Ole.

He’s going to spend this season clearing the decks, blooding youngsters and making a few long term signings whilst sorting the dressing room out and getting a semblance of team spirit back (what fergie valued most). At the end of season he moves up to technical director and Poch arrives to find a young, lean, motivated squad, a transfer “war chest” and plenty of play in the wage budget.

He's totally shot away, but I can't see how anyone can decide that is the issue over his clear physical decline.

Rashford still has a tonneload to prove in fairness.

Utd must really want him gone.

The only way to look at it is we'll likely get nothing out of him if he stays, so we might as well get as much of his wages off our shift as we can.

A disaster of a signing, but hopefully a massive wakeup call.

Do you think Sanchez was free? No, we swapped Mkhitaryan for him, so he cost us ~ 30million in transfer fee + 35million in wages. A disaster of epic proportions.

I remember having this argument when we got Sanchez, so many refused to bring Mkhitaryan's worth into the equation, I still can't work out why.

I still can't believe this was anything other than forced on Ole, as he has just been left even more exposed now, and for what? The club are up to something imo, and it isn't anything to do with our best interests on the pitch.

And further, I never saw the point in buying in January in the first place. City was miles ahead, and he wasn't eligible in the CL - so what was he brought on for in January, the FA fecking Cup? Why not buy him in June for free, give him a nice signing bonus and a reasonable salary that won't feck up our wage structure, and shift Mkhitaryan for an actual fee - Raiola would have found him a buyer, no doubt.

He was eligible, he played in the Seville second round ties, not very well mind.

Why do you think he'd come for less money when he'd be actually free, rather than a swap for Mkhy?

Giving him a "Nice" signing bonus, is surely no different to spreading it out as wages.

It was vanity, another big name brought to the club to appease the sponsors, and to show Ed can 'do things other clubs can only dream of', to hell with the consequences, and the knock on effect it will be having on us 18 months down the line, I would bet my last pound that Jose was not fussed whether we signed him or not.

But to now just cast him aside, with very little gain the club, is just rubbing salt into the wounds.
