Not sure what you expect him to do other than be amongst the tying goal. That's his duty coming off the bench. He and Jesse did that really well today. Impact the game and get amongst the goals.
Yes, he badly miss hit his pass to Young who was a little flat footed to begin with. Everything else he did was fine to better than say Mata who was out there for the entire match or Andreas.

It's hilarious that his performances are criticized before others.

Like it or not, the highest paid player at the club will be judged as such. Alexis has done feck all to justify his fee or salary and will likely cost the club untold millions in a broken wage structure. He's absolute shit.

I don't think its fair to complain about salary when he's got 15 mins at 2 goals down to compete against.

If you want to compare then benchmark him from minute zero against his peers, and moan if he isn't head and shoulders above them in end product from there.

Odd to complain when he was barely on the pitch, entered the match in a different dynamic and still managed to contribute to the first goal.

I find it hilarious that there are a bunch of posters quick to jump on an Alexis thread when he had nothing to do with how shit we were for 80 minutes, and was involved in a goal we pulled back.

He came on to take more risks and force the issue. He was struggling to adapt with the quick pace and a few of his passes didn't go his way. I'd have expected so many other player performance threads to be trending with criticism over this - but alas, Sanchez was poor when he came on to force the issue so he's the first one to get picked on.

A good post. But that's the approach many seem to have one here. The guy was a sub! How many minutes did he actually get? We drew 2-2 at home, and players are being 'blamed'.

Some people on here need to be a little more balanced with their views. Did you not see the Newcastle result? Things happen... there are so many games, I am not sure what people expect.

The problem isn't today alone.

The problem he's paid more than anyone and offers very little. That's simply not worth it. What he's offering now, anyone with less wages can offer. This won't go well when we want to renew our more important and productive players when they look at someone like Sanchez.

It's hilarious that his performances are criticized before others. I wouldn't say he's done nothing under Ole. End product wise he's been very productive, and had a key involvement for our first goal in tonight's comeback. That's more than any of our other front 3 had done in 80 minutes.

If he was mishitting passes and forcing the issue with ambitious long balls and crosses into the mixer when it was 40 minutes I'd be questioning what the heck he was doing - but he was brought on to force the issue. That means making risky moves, which will invariably result in losing the ball more. Even when noting this his overall play wasn't to the right standard but he's in no way worthy of more criticism than a lot of our other players tonight.
This is the Sanchez thread. Try the Pereira or Jones threads if you think he is being singled out (in his own thread)

Not sure where we sell him to, unfortunately.

Don't blame him for that. It's a performances thread, not a "how is Woodward handling our wage budget" thread.

I understand the wage element is hard to ignore but it would be a lot easier to digest what a waste of a player he is if he started games and was shit. The man has just returned from injury and in the few cameos he's receive under Ole he's actually delivered very good end product for lack of anything else.

No thanks, I'll talk about how Sanchez is being singled out in the Sanchez thread. I'll evaluate the other players in their threads.

He's bad. He doesn't offer enough. Just moments of brilliance here and there but that's not enough for a player with such quality. It's not just now. It has been since he was signed. Simply not good enough for an extended period of time. What he's offering can be offered by anyone else, so he needs to be chipped off.

I can't tell if we're not getting the best out of him like Depay or if he's just done. Either way you'd expect a player of his caliber to be making the difference in games like this. Otherwise we're better off developing a younger player.

Yeah, since he signed he was underwhelming. This season he hasn't really got a chance to get going though. Ole hasn't really trusted him with a run of games either. He's managing his injury or he doesn't rate him - but I'm inclined to think it's the former given his end product.

He is rubbish, not reliable to make serious impact on a game. I think we are seeing the end of Sanchez in top flight football.
The problem is his wage, how do we free him from our wage bill?

Can't see how coming on relatively late in what clearly was a difficult game warranted some of the reactions on here. Look at the other players that played for 70 mins and created nothing. People already forgetting it was his header that Heaton saved that lead to the second goal....that's more than some of the other feckers did tonight.

Should have started him in Matas position or else on the left with Rashford up top.

Wages. Hot and Cold. Something like that I'm not sure.

I think a lot of fans have just decided he's done and don't care about what he produces to turn the matches.

He wasn't great when he came on, but certainly not as bad as many on here are making out. Needs a run of starts as this coming off the bench routine is doing him no favours at all.

I dont get why he doesnt play on the right, he played there for Barca and Udinese. I know he isnt as fast as he was, but he is sure way faster than Mata and might actually offer width and more attacking threat from the right.

Due to his performances and positioning I am going to say he doesnt have a future here, especially at the price he comes at. Not sure who can accommodate him at his salary, maybe PSG

Wait, he is scapegoat for this today? Played 30 minutes, had some good moves and bad moves. Was involved in goal. But lets blame him. Lets forget Pereira, Jones, Ole, Lukaku, Rashford...

I think he creates more problems than he solves if he's constantly starting imo.

If we could sell him off to China somehow, do it.

Not really fair to say that if the squad has a clean slate under Ole and he hasn't had a chance to start a single league game as yet.

An Escape Goat? :lol::lol:

Its Scapegoat.

Agree with you though. he should have started.

Edit: that is stuff you write under your name.

Overhit a few passes, didn't do a lot overall, got a header in that forced the save that led to Lindelof's equalizer.

If his name wasn’t Alexis Sanchez and you didn’t know anything about him would you play him? Too much in football is about past reputation. He’s done. Hopefully between now and the end of the season he can contribute though like at Arsenal.

Him and Pogba get in each's other way if you play Alexis wide left.

Unless you play him centrally, but Ole doesn't seem to like him there.

I agree. Should have started in Matas position at the bare minimum and tell him to do what Lingarrd has been doing since Ole came in.

I think he has a future. I think Lukaku could leave if he does not get game time.

Would love to see a front three of Martial, Rashford and Sanchez at some point.

My fav moment was when he took the ball of pogba on the left
Then decided to switch it to the other side to young who had the same number of people to beat as him but put it out for a throw

He’s running out of time. It’s been a year. Poor last season, promising pre season, poor start to the season, then we were hoping the new management and better football would get him going and so far it hasn’t. Still he is Alexis Sanchez after all. One of the best players in the league over the last 5 years. He can still come good.

Ole needs to put his foot down and tell him play on the right or dont play and pass the ball a bit sooner sometimes. A front three of Martial, Rashford and Sanchez could dangerous if they click

People wanted Pogba sold only months ago but that's the nature of football. Didn't he score on Saturday and header led to the equaliser today? I think like others he deserves a chance under Ole as others have had.

He should have started tonight, then he comes in at the worst fecking time, just as we were becoming panicky. Some good moments and some absolute stupid decisions.
