Nothing amazing but definitely more effective than Lukaku in movement and link up play. Keep him there for the time being.

Not amazing but very competent and good 'enough' quality when needed. Cannot see Lukaku doing what Sanchez did for Martial's goal, the build up, over lap, cut back.

I thought the commentators and pundits were really overboard in praising him but he was better centrally than he has been in the LW for us.

Agreed. I was surprised at how he was winning things centrally against Ake. Clearly not a wide man any longer. Yet probably not good enough at the moment to start centre forward.

He did just fine today. Needs a run of games. I don't think he did anything wrong, looked lively whenever he was around the ball.

Did more today than what Lukaku has done in his last 4-5 matches. Always running and pressing for the ball. Great assist too. Hope he gets to start on top again.

Looks promising as our No.9 (shocking.. right?)

He offers a quicker dimension to the attack. It's too early to say he's gonna be good because he's been nothing short of shite but today was promising. Hopefully he'll get way better with a run of games.

Give him more chances this season, definitely better than Lukaku. I keep saying we are wasting time with Jose. Bring an attacking manager for the rest of the season, and the performance will be much Better than what we are seeing under Jose.

He was good today, one of his most promising matches, looks a lot better there and he was unlucky to be flagged offside else he might’ve scored. Good assist, was a bit disappointed he got taken off but his substitute scored the winner so no harm done.

I'm happy with him and didn't think he should've been moved away from the middle. He's got the most intelligence in the position. The first goal for instance lukaku and rashford wouldn't have worked themselves into that position and square it for Martial.
Needs to keep playing.

He played well considering he has been injured. When he gets his match fitness and sharpness he will be awesome as our striker.

Another point that some fans are saying the match commentators were going over board with his performance. Surely they are seeing the whole pitch and his off the ball running which is not picked up on TV.

His passing is so erratic, so many simples passes on break he messed up. An improvement from his previous showing but no where near good enough. Needs to do a hell lot more to justify his wages.

Relentless pressing. Will be gutting to see him moved elsewhere.

Wasn't Leicester his third game for us? So he played 2 good games then went to shite?

Im not sure. I seem to remember him getting some MOTM awards before he turned to shite. Funnily enough that Leicester game was the exact reversal of today. We were playing amazing football and then shit ourselves after Rafael was sent off. From that point onwards Van Gaal stopped playing aggressive football. But maybe my memory has gone.

First half impressive, second half invisible.

I'm still not satisfied, need more, but well done for now.

As a CF/ST, he made good runs and can actually won long balls in the air. Combine well too. Nice assist. He made defenders life difficult by constantly moving around and running beyond the line, good threat and always give good challenge.

Is it tactical instruction? I notice he let the CBs hog the ball, with him just cutting the passing lane so the CBs can't pass to each other. I mean he's good at high press and hassling defenders. He's not doing that this time. Good challenge dropping deep leading to our first goal though.

Felt he could have got the goal if he stayed on. Think he will improve if he gets to play in that position. It's not like we got anything to lose atm with Lukaku being terrible.

He's looked more dangerous in the central attacking positions, and to be fair to him that's where he played his best football at Arsenal.

I like him a lot more as a central striker than Lukaku or Rashford there. Play Rashford on the right, Sanchez through the middle and Martial on the left consistently and hope we see at least some return to his world class form in 16/17.

Not sure he will be kept there. As soon a Rashford came on he went through the middle, with Alexis switching to the right.

I think if the two are on the pitch at once, Jose will opt for Rashford through the middle.

Been a big critic of Sanchez but I thought he played pretty well. His movement/energy and link up play was something we've missed for a while.

Even when he moved to the RW his level was higher than usual, think he was unlucky to be subbed.

I don’t think Mourinho sees Sanchez through the middle as a long term thing. I think it should be given a genuine shot, though.

If Sanchez were to have signed for City then it’s in that role (the ‘Aguero’ role) he’d have been playing. Dropping deep to pick the ball up and making some clever runs through the centre, just as he did for periods at Arsenal.

He shouldn’t be playing out left again, that’s for sure.

We need to get a tune out of him cause his ceiling is higher than Rom and I think on form is genuinely WC

He needs to keep starting as our striker. Actually makes runs, puts defenders under pressure when not on the ball, links up play (decent assist today as well), and we all know that he can be a great finisher in the box. Unlucky to be subbed today, and needs to be playing central (didn't like that Rashford coming in made him move to the right). Also, he was unlucky to be flagged offside when he was thru on goal, otherwise I think he would have scored that chance.

Deserves to start the next few games at no.9 though not sure how it will go considering we are going to play 2 of the best teams in Europe.

I'm also firmly on the side of those wanting to see him up top more, it looks like there definitely is something there. Once he gets back into a rhythm up there, I can see him starting to look like a proper player once again and it will give some actual competition for Lukaku.

I want him to start centrally, but preferably with Rashford on the right. Needs that running and movement around him, and Rash can help make space for him.

His movement was good, his general quality on the ball is better and he has good decision making. I trust his finishing from various distances/angles and both feet over Rashford's too.

Annoyingly, I see Lukaku being in the starting XI before long.

He should be playing every week, the problem is that we don’t have consistent partnership of front three. Mata is not as quick as him, can’t press higher... We’d be so much better with him in front I belive

Would really like to see Martial Sanchez and Rashford all up top.

Especially after Jose said today that he prefers wingers to join up centrally and score goals.

Was impressed by him today. Been one of his biggest critics, but with a bit more sharpness, he's probably our best striker. Almost strange seeing our striker win a header.

I think he did well today, will probably play again against Juventus.

We send long balls to him, he creates to struggle chances. We pass the ball to his feet, he creates a goal. Quelle surprise.
He should be our starting striker until the season end. Offers much more than Lukaku.

Relentless pressing. Will be gutting to see him moved elsewhere.

I noticed the pressing, yesterday.
There was a point in the match when I saw him close down an opponent extremely aggressively and he won a throw-in.
I thought, what is going on here? It was Sanchez being Sanchez. ;)
