I feel sorry for Martial who is a better player than Sanchez this season getting dropped to accommodate him. It's not fair that Sanchez can play poor game after poor game yet still have a starting spot whilst Martial plays 4/5 good games yet one poor game and he's back on the bench. Just drop him completely and go back to what was working in early January.
You’re having a fecking laugh mate. Martial has been anonymous in the majority of games. Another passenger in the team that lacks the “never say die” United Attitude.

People want us to go back to the old United when everyone gave a shit, everyone busted a gut and bled for the badge... yet those same fans are content with the likes of Martial in the team. That’s what I just don’t understand. He couldn’t give less of a feck if he tried.

I will not justify Alexis' bad performance in any way. If you do not play well, you go to the bench ... it's logical.

The transfer of Alexis has not had the immediate impact that we want. The reasons are obvious there is no "team" that plays solidly to adapt, we are very inconsistent. There are still problems in the defense and midfield that need correction urgently.
Expecting Sanchez to do the same thing that Arsenal is childish, is not the same game style and has not yet defined a specific role for him.

I think it's too early to consider it a failure ... but he needs to show something more than work rate.

Alexis will be fine.

He’s the least of our problems.

Our troubles really started as soon as he was jammed into the LHS of our attack. It has disrupted our whole attack. Hopefully he eventually fits into the team, but so far it doesn’t look good.

Alexis will be fine.

He’s the least of our problems.
He is actually our biggest problem right now.

His introduction to the team has seen martial, pogba and lingard 3 of our best players before he arrived look shells of their former selves. Add to it his own unbelievably rubbish performances means our attack has been badly hamstrung.

He seems to love sharing the ball with the opposition with some record breaking nos to show for it, thus putting an unnecessary strain on our mf and back line as they then have to watch out constantly for breakaways leading from those giveaways.

If Jose’s plan is to only play Sanchez on the left I can’t see why he bothered to sign him. On his day he’s a great player but we had a nice balance of Rashford/Martial challenging for that position and adding Sanchez to the mix has just fecked everything up. It was clear as day to anyone and everyone that our issue was on the right and I assumed that Sanchez would either play there or as a 10 who drifts wide.

From a commercial side the deal has been a success but unless he’s moved to the right or centre, Sanchez needs to be dropped.

Why does he take touches instead of hitting the ball first time when in good positionn?
That specifically I would definitely put down to confidence. Confident players always strike those first times. Lacking confidence, they take an extra touch to try and set themselves perfectly. Its a classic case of that IMO.

He was crap, like the rest, for the vast majority of match but in fairness to him he did look a better player in last 15 minutes when we played at a much higher tempo. He was more direct and invited more challenges and actually made a few decent passes especially out to the right.

I’m not excusing a generally dire performance from him but I really do think he isn’t helped by the slowness and predictability of our football. He needs to play in a team with the handbrake off and we are one of the least likely sides to play in that manner.

Basically he continued his Arsenal form this season but now with us. He did put in a shift for us than Arsenal. The main problem is he is not pure creator. We lack creator. Adding him in and have him try to put a shift in doesn't help the situation. He is not in good position to do what he does best, scoring goal final ball. Especially when in bad form, you need to regain form first by doing what you are best at. Bad form + doing teamwork can be counter productive, see Lukaku against City. I wouldn't write him off when he had no preseason to adapt. Just saying it's very unfortunate timing for the transfer. The quality he possesses (but couldn't show) is definitely what we can make use.

I tried to count the amount of times he retained possession in the first half and didn't get very far.

He had an abysmal game.. looks lost

Martial and rashford have been much better than on him on the left. Id even have rashford when he was in poor form over him there.

Its still early days this signing, but its looking very bad at the moment. Its pushed players out of the starting line up to accomodate him.

If he has to start it has to be in the centre like against liverpool. Both martial and rashford should be ahead of him in the pecking order to play on the left, and mata should be ahead of him in the pecking order coming from the right.

Theres two ways to accomodate him because hes not being dropped - 4231 - hes in the middle behind lukaku. 433 - pogba in midfield 3 and sanchez playing the right of the attacking 3 but having license to go where he wants like mata.

I'd play him through the middle where he can do least damage to our cause if he's in bad form. Lingard isn't pulling up trees at the moment, so bench him and bring him on for Sanchez when we need him. Play Martial and Mata on the wings.

What I would question is whether Sanchez is good enough to merit all of the disruption his arrival will now evidently cause. He's 29 and we had two of the best prospects in all of world football in that same position.

Our lack of medium and long term planning in the transfer market is a real concern, and in no position is this more evident than on the left wing. We bought Depay, one of the best young prospects as an inside left forward, then at the end of the same transfer window we bought Martial, one of the best young prospects as an inside left forward. Fast forward five or so months, injury crisis, Rashford steps up, and now we realise we have another one of the best young prospects as an inside left forward. Something was going to have to give and Depay was sold. Fast forward a year or two, Martial and Rashford are doing fine and everyone agrees that it is the right side of the attack that has been neglected and needs investment. Sanchez, a great inside left forward, albeit one probably just the wrong side of his peak becomes available and we now buy him. We hope there is some vision there from the manager and the club to best mesh Sanchez with our existing cohort, but instead Sanchez is given his preferred role and the others are made to carve out a new niche. We are now no stronger than we were previously and are making the futures of Martial and Rashford less certain. This is especially problematic with a manger like Mourinho who will play his stars 90 minutes every time.

In all this time, we have not bought anyone for the right side of the pitch. Even some of our central midfielders, prefer playing on the left of centre, both Pogba and Matic.

I was excited about Sanchez, but now it is sheer apathy. United are still going to be the same as they have been for the past two years: threatening cutting in from the left flank, no threat on the right and a distinct lack of overlapping full backs. None of our attacking options were good on the right until now, so why would it now be any different? Lukaku is our our best fecking option at attacking the right flank and swinging a cross in.

*This is not knee jerk to yesterday. I thought we were very unfortunate not to score and ultimately win.

He’s been more a luxury signing for us so far than he ever would have been for City, which is remarkable really.

People can accuse me and others of kneejerking, but I think Sanchez’s signing has the potential to have serious repercussions for us. Our manager has essentially strengthened the strongest area of our attack with a player who is probably just the wrong side of his peak and has displaced two of the best young talents in the game and is essentially expecting them to fill in elsewhere when necessary. These guys are only going to improve and are better medium and long term prospects should they be nutured properly. It would be a monumental error to allow either of them, if not both even, to fizzle out and leave the club not having fulfilled their potential. It was mismanagement to end up with Depay and Martial in one transfer window, with Rashford not even on the radar, and now we have Sanchez, Rashford and Martial. There’s a genuine possibility that Sanchez’s signing could leave us worse off long term than we otherwise might have been without him.

Of course I was excited when Sanchez was signed, but I never expected him to go inside left by default and the other two to go whistle. Is this it? Was this the vision? The squad is now even more unbalanced in attack than it was when Mkhi was here.
This is all coming to frutition. Sanchez is going to give us a real headache going forward with the dynamic of our squad and how him playing post-peak is going to hinder the development of Rashford and Martial.

Other than giving him Shaw behind him to provide width by overlapping, which Young, for all the good things he does do, does not offer, it’s really time to bench him. For all the underwhelming, high profile signings post-Ferguson, I’m not sure anyone has made a more auspicious start.

He is hindering the team.

I wouldnt say he is hindering the team. Its just a case of, did we really need him? We have 2 of the most talented youngsters in the world fighting for one position at the moment (inside forward on the left) in Rashford and Martial and although i wanted both in the team, i was happy that they were rotating and getting game time. In comes Sanchez, his best position is on the left of a front 3 and Martial who was on fire and scoring goals for fun gets moved to the right to accommodate Sanchez and Rashford also started on the right yesterday.

Problem is now, the front 3 (except for lukaku) are chopping and changing constantly and there is no fluidity and no link up play whatsoever. We rely purely on Lukaku winning the first ball from a long ball or maybe a 1-2 between our strikers (this seems to be much more common since the Sanchez signing) but apart from that, they seem lost on the pitch.

What happens to Sanchez now? I said it before but i see him as our new Rooney and not the Rooney we remember playing as a striker scoring 30 goals +. A workaholic with a good engine who will play in numerous positions, drop deep to try and get in the game and distribute. When his legs decide to go, then we have a very expensive squad player on the bench (again). For me, he has to play as a 10 or on the right side. I think Mata on the right and Sanchez as a 10 is the best solution which means Lingard on the bench and Martial/Rashford fighting it out on the left is the way forward.

If it was up to me, as good as Lukaku has been, and he has been impressive this season, i would love to give Martial Sanchez Rashford/Lingard with Mata in behind to see how it goes but alas, this will never happen.

He is hindering the team.

At the moment, yeah. Should be dropped. We keep moving other players around to shoehorn him in. Rashford was great wide left at the weekend, moved so that Alexis can play there yesterday.

What he's bringing to the team at the moment is not worth all the changes being made to accomodate him.

He doesn't have pace, he just has quick feet, has he lost a yard of pace in the last 6-9 months, or was he just never that quick, deceptively slow, so to speak?

Unfortunately at United he also has seemed to lack any sort of composure, if he had the composure of Mata on the ball he'd be a gun.

Also, besides Anderson , has a South American player ever done well at United overall?

Rafael did quite well, so did Heinze before he decided to go rogue...

Won't blame him. Jose, before getting him should have decided on his best position. Keeps getting shunted to the left, right and centre along with martial and rashford and then is expected to set the world on fire.

He will come good.

Alexis will be fine.

He’s the least of our problems.

A lot of problems started when he arrived. Martial was flourishing, Pogba was influencing games, Lingard was getting called Messi Lingard. It all went to pot when Sanchez arrived seemingly.

He was literally in everyone's way yesterday and made some really bad choices. I can't see him dropping him though, kinda like when Lukaku went through a rough patch. I hope he gets out of against Brighton.

He needs to be shunted out to the right wing and see if he delivers anything from there. At least we have no one else that can actually play the RW role, so that experiment is worth it.

Putting him at #10 or LW at the moment is really hindering the team. Both Martial and Rashford are more deserving of starts on the LW than him. And both Mata and Lingard do more with free role status.

His arrival not only has not helped us so far, we've actually gone backwards by trying to accommodate him in his preferred position.

Either needs to play on the right or be benched against Brighton.

Some of you amaze me, clamour to sign a player.. get excited and then when they aren't instantly world class, there are calls for him to be dropped or even sold etc. Alexis is a world class player.. having world class players is not the problem it's down to the manager to find a system to accommodate our best assets, which we haven't done since fergie left.

It's the same average players that are our problem, good one week, shocking the next and ultimately not good enough; Fellaini, Smalling, Young, Jones, Darmian, Blind et al. unfortunately though these players are a managers dream as they are obedient and will 'do a job'. When will people realise that its the likes of these players, who can pick a forward pass and have no imagination that are ultimately costing us, time and again for years, rather than the technically gifted and generally better players in our team.

Will leave the club in summer 2019.
How? He's unlikely to get so good that a club comes along to better our offer and turns his head. If he continues to be poor/average etc, no one's going to shell out what we are paying him. Either ways, he ain't going anywhere
