Journalist can get information from player’s agent. That’s my point why I mentioned gentlemen’s agreement, it means an informal agreement between the player/the agent and the club.

I can understand some of the comments about wanting a deeper playmaker as that is what Ten Hag seems to be favouring, even though I dont personally think that is what we need.
However, not just McAllister but Caicedo too, I am surprised with a lot of comments about there ability on the ball and passing.
We have seen a couple of big Brighton signings move that havent worked with Cucarella (who I never rated), Bissouma (who I do rate, wonder f its a personality thing like attitude as he should be playing in that SPurs midfield). Trossard I always liked though wasnt sure he could play for a big side, he is doign well.
But McAllister "neat and tidy" or "a workhorse" seems very disrespectful to his skill set. This is a guy who helped transform an initially struggling Argentina side that ended up wining the world cup, though I dont like using international football as examples.
Just his game against us should be enough evidence:
He is a workhorse, but he is also a very intelligent player, he fills in holes defensively, makes space for runners, find spaces to run in to in the final third but he is more than a neat and tidy runner and workhorse.
His knack of moving the ball to the side of an incomign player and giving himself time on the ball s excellent, he has a good shot and free kick on him.
He certainly doesnt have the range of passing of Scholes or the same ability....but I get the comparisons someone made a little earlier in the thread with the younger version of Scholes.
I think he offers a lot of the good traits of several of oru current midfielders rolled in to one and would be an excellent signing.....however where he plays positionally and is ideal may scupper a deal I feel....
But would I rather say FDJ or a Bellingahm.Rice with Fernandes at number 10......or MacAllister signed along with someone like a Caqueret/Thuram also signed to fight it out with Fernandes playing deeper.
I think either option woudl be a similar cost and your getting two for the price of one, squad wise the latter is definately the better option for me...though dont actually see either scenario happening

If you buy a 10 or CAM. Then personally i will recommend Florian Wirtz. As a free nr.10. Florian Wirtz is maybe one of the best in that role right now. The role behind the CF. Feed them with assist passes and still score goals by themselves.

I don't even want him, but I think he'll be an excellent signing for Liverpool. He is fantastic at picking the right pass, and it's going to be easy for him especially with the movement their forwards have. If they get both him and Ugarte, their midfield will suddenly look very good again.
Decent player and would be a good signing for Pool.

Yeah I can see the logic of not signing Bellingham and getting Mac Alister and Ugarte for the same money.
Will be gutted seeing him go there. Hoped we might bring in him as the long term Eriksen replacement.
Better to see them signing good players instead of great players.

Not even sold on him being the new no.8 signing, good as he is (for one, he seems to be more of a hybrid 8/10 like Bruno, rathe than strongest playing in Eriksen position), but I don't think Pool presenting their project means any kind of lock; by all accounts, there are at least 3 PL clubs in for him (MU, Liverpool and I think either Arsenal or Newcastle, who might be looking at him as Maddison alt, as 3rd) ....
Problem with lining up any of these signings is uncertainty around ownership - we might make spec enquiries, but who's giving the go ahead for even provisional deal structures being agreed. Surely if majority sale either way is pretty much locked in within the next couple of weeks, even without full details agreed , then they need to agree summer budget structure and go ahead from 'preferred bidder' there and then, otherwise it's going to be chaos with ins and outs just on squaring FFP with necessary incomings.

People seem to laud our midfield three yet both he and Caicedo have comfortably won the battle with our midfield whenever they have played us this season.
I wouldnt class either as "great players" but they are both very good and under rated in my opinion. In the case of McAllister especially will hold my own hand up to not being overly fussed about him.
I think with both, jsut as they dont apray around spectacular passes or eye catching skills and touches that there technique is really under rated. Both have very good touches movin gthe ball away from the opposition player and givign themselves time. Add that to ther etenacity, intelligence, work rate and movement. Think in different ways, either would add to our midfield first eleven let alone the squad and we will see it again tomorrow.
The only downside for me is the probably price of either. We have already seen the kind of fees Caicedo would go for. I think either are as good as other more high profile silkier players in EUrope....but there are also lots of other good oyunger midfielders for probably nearer half the price.
But mediocre, dont agree. They are both better players for me than the majority of midfielders been here the last decade. Performance, ability and consistenc wise in a game and over a season, Id only put Casemeiro clear.
Some have mentioned McAllister as a long term replacement for Eriksen....please he starts ahead of him

Looks like one of those potentially great signing for Liverpool but will be a failure with us and the media/pundits will always remind us of how we’ve missed out on a great player, whenever he scores a goal.
I like his attitude and ability to adapt tactically and don’t see him suited to one particular setup. He has played for teams that share no similarities to Brighton or even Liverpool but he is always managed to do very well.
I just hope he bums for them and plunge them into further desperation.

He tored Casemiro apart tonight. Very reliable, press resistant. Completely dictated their tempo.
He's the opposite to Bruno. With Mac Allister you get the feeling that he will not rush if not necessary, and will always find the right pass. He works a lot, is press resistant, goes for goal aswell. His penalties are magnificent, it's not the first time he strikes a decisive penalty in such a magnificent way for Brighton.
And to think he didn't shoot against The Netherlands and France at the World Cup.

I don't think he's the answer to our midfield conundrum. Tonight I didn't see him doing anything particularly breathtaking. He's an upgrade on Fred and Mc T, no question, but I don't think that's the right metric.
