Looking forward to this signing, United don't offer much going forward at all from full-back positions and Telles offers a different dimension. What opposition winger ever has to worry about Shaw or Wan Bissaka destroying them if they don't track back in the way that you would with say Alphonso Davies, Marcelo or Alexander-Arnold? United could do with that kind of player, would help the whole team.

Signing cheap left backs when you could use a left back doesn't stop you buying players in other positions. My connections to Woodward have nothing to do with my views.
We "could use" a lot of players, but that's not how you rebuild a squad. You devote a large portion of your transfer budget to key positions and areas of need. If the 15m we spend on Telles means we can't buy a top shelf CB, then you've made a mistake.
To take an extreme position: We have a 150m transfer kitty. After waiting around for months, flirting with a few players, we decide to spend the 150m on 10 left backs because we "could use them".

That's how you build a squad. If we want to devote a large portion of budget to single player when we should be looking at value signings to fill the other positions. Telles for 15 player is exactly that.
Anyways it's all hypocritical, we haven't devoted any budget to single player, so signing Telles won't stop any other signings. We needed one more LB and we got without a big dent in the budget.
Whats your issue with Telles? Shaw is absolutely mediocre at left back, and injury prone so you know very shortly we'd need to play some random there. Telles is better than Shaw and will start ahead of him fairly quickly.
The amount of people in here thinking that Shaw is clearly the superior player boggles my mind. Do you all really know a single thing about football? The same idiots that said Bruno is at best marginally better than Pereira or Lingard back then and compared to Gaitan. Yeah I can see why people think Cavani is poor transfer but Telles? LB who can attack and can cross for just 15 million, at his peak and make instant impact.

Shaw was constantly out of position today. He doesn't offer much going forward either. With Rashford constantly looking to cut inside and score or link up with Martial or Bruno, we are left playing narrow and not exploiting the width of the pitch. Reguilon was so effective in the game today. He drove to the by line and tried crossing the ball multiple times. I really hope Telles could offer that for us. Not being biased or anything, I don't think any of the back 4 that played today deserve to play for us ever. Maguire, Bailly, Shaw and also AWB are all pretty pathetic. If we can somehow get Sancho this window, I think United should spend about 150m next summer just revamping our defense. AWB offers nothing going forward.

You need to wake up and realize that Manchester United as a football club has been run poorly. Recruitment of both players and managers have been poor. We take so long in doing transfers. Also as you don't want assumptions, our former managers have said they didn't get the players they wanted which is a fact as it has come from their own mouths. Also my biggest gripe is we waste time on players we can't either get or afford. If we can't afford Sancho why haven't we moved on to alternatives weeks ago.

You’d think that Shaw was actually a top-class league-beating left-back by some comments. He’s been shocking this season so far and he’s never going to be better than solid. He’s at the club 5 or 6 years and he’s getting no better, like Jones it’s false dawns.

For £15m or so you can't really go wrong with this one. He seems to have a bit more attacking intent about him which is what we've been asking for from our full-backs.

Anyone think this might prompt us to move to a back 3 for now? We had success with it last year and might help shore up our shaky defence for now. The problem we had last year was Williams lack of left foot meant it hindered us attacking, not a problem with this signing. Shaw was also far better as the 3rd left sided CB. Doesn't help down the right with AWB but small steps..

Good player, great fee, clear upgrade on Shaw. Im as pissed off as anyone bout the state of the club right now...But this is a good signing.
