Desperate needs call for desperate urgency...
Rumours that he has deliberately broken his leg to fail his medical.
He was demanding 4 million Euros per year from Porto, which they couldn't pay. I doubt we'd be offering more than that given that no other club was really far ahead for him besides us.Is he really joining?
Either he's a masochist or the money are huge
Shift Pogba or VDB up the pitch alongside Bruno. Try to outscore the opposition because the defence is not going to win us anything."Backup to Shaw"
This guy is a comfortably better LB and should be a starter.
It's not a case of a fullback being shit defensively if they're good going forward and vice versa. Shaw isn't that good defensively, he gets caught out of position ALL the time. People need to stop blaming other positions for when one player flops in a game. It's the same with Wan Bissaka. His positioning is woeful, terrible on back post crosses, terrible going forward. You might when we concede even more goals.
Im not sure why many think we are setup correctly for attacking fullbacks, we have a right mess in central defence right now with an ageing Matic at DM.
It's just a case of looking at the amount of goals we've conceded recently and factoring in fullbacks that are up the pitch for the majority of the game. The latter isn't going to improve the former. And how players and their formations etc compliment each other is important in this scenario. A team needs to have the attributes to accommodate attacking fullbacks, it's not a case of just chucking them into the starting 11.It's not a case of a fullback being shit defensively if they're good going forward and vice versa. I suspect Telles will open a lot of people's eyes as to just how bad our fullback situation is, and has been.
Why certain people still rate Shaw is beyond me. Real, Barca and Bayern would have never tolerated him for so long.I was quietly shocked at the number of people who were saying Telles was going to be backup for Shaw. He’s going straight into the starting XI for me and I think we’re going to see some quality balls whipped into the box and some of those pesky low block teams get a bit more tested than they previously were.
Yep, people make it sound like Shaw is amazing defensively because he is inept in the attacking 3rd. Telles will expose him for being nothing more than average defensively, (not that Telles is amazing defensively, but is probably just the same as Shaw at worse). With the change that he'll know how to attack. The people who have actually watched him say that he is a clear upgrade on Shaw. His defensive 'weakness' is exaggerated, not any worse than Shaw.
He doesn't need to play like a winger though. It's just asking him to make the most out of the positions that Wan Bissaka and Shaw take up. How often when we dominate possession do we see opponents pretty much let us swing the ball out to Wan Bissaka or Shaw? They aren't any threat in the attacking 3rd. Telles is actually good in the final third. That's where the difference will be. Yeah it's one thing having a system like Liverpools where Alexander Arnold and Robertson bomb forward all the time. That's not the case with United, but we need "all rounders" basically. Fullbacks who can be solid defensively but also support the attack and deliver crosses in well. Everton have them with Coleman and Digne. Leicester had it last season with Pereira and Chilwell. Shaw and Wan Bissaka are those sorts of players... they just are really, really bad in the final 3rd, and the in the defensive 3rd have pretty poor positioning. You don't need to be an amazing fullback to make a difference there, and Telles will show that. It's just a case of looking at the amount of goals we've conceded recently and factoring in fullbacks that are up the pitch for the majority of the game. I'm all for attacking fullbacks, just don't think we are setup for them. For all his flaws an in form Shaw fills in and covers well in the majority of his games (last 3 games excluding obviously.) I think the lack of that may outweigh the attacking aspect, at least right now with the back four looking super shaky.
How is this going to make a jot of difference to us? Will it stop Maguire from being a useless twat?
It's fecking laughable."Backup to Shaw"

Or maybe bench pogba for good and play actual midfielders who are hard working, capable of doing a job, play with urgency etc.Shift Pogba or VDB up the pitch alongside Bruno. Try to outscore the opposition because the defence is not going to win us anything.
Based on?He might start off ok but will be rubbish soon enough.
A bit like his plane then.He might start off ok but will be rubbish soon enough.
Based on?
Probably because overall he's at best good but not great and also because everyone who plays for us ends up turning shite sooner rather than later anyway.Based on?
Poor comparison. he's a much better player.A bit of a "meh" signing tbh. Ok player but never a starting XI quality LB for Man United. We're probably getting him as competition for Shaw rather than an upgrade on him.
I remember him from his Galatasaray days, and he was a disaster defensively. Out of position at all times and not good in 1 vs 1 defending either. Shaw is much better than him defensively and also physically as Telles is a bit weak. Technically he's good and has a good left foot, good shot in him and enough pace. He didn't make any impact at Inter though and was in the team of the worst XI in Serie A in 2015-16 season.
In attack, good crossing even great at times but I also remember some of his deliveries were shockingly bad at the near post and made the team vulnerable to counter attacks. So some can be underwhelmed by his attacking game. If you're comfortably better than your opponents in your league like Porto, he won't be a problem. He won't get those goal & assist numbers in our team and especially in the PL though. He's from the class of full backs who are suspect/not good enough defensively and more of a wingers playing as fullbacks.
All in all, a bit like Brazillian Büttner if you like.
signings thats sign for us. Bruno in the first couple months to bruno now is not the same. Its all got to do with the 'coaching' that occurs at man utdBased on?
It happens under all managers we have, so there shall be other reasons. Most likely too much money - players are less motivated to improve being paid that much. Its all got to do with the 'coaching' that occurs at man utd
Poor comparison. he's a much better player.
