This only makes sense if we are saving for another transfer or if he is way down the pecking order.

It would be silly if he is one of our main targets and we are squabbling over 2-3 milion.

Woodward will cry COVID but still our latest reported bid for him is in the big money category. I think we made the blunder of trying to make a point on the Sancho signing i.e to prove that we are no pushovers in the market and it backfired massively.

The reason why Liverpool was hesitate to sign Werner due to financial in doubt which was reported by Ornstein. As soon as they sealed Thiago, next day they sealed Jota. Simple, Thiago first before Jota.

BBC & Ornstein are the most reliable source out there. In other word, my assessments were backed with the most proven reliable source out there not based on my own assumption.



Whatever happens during the preparation & negotiation has nothing to do with us losing to Palace.

However, the fact (not assumption) that United dragged transfer too long before moving on to alternative without realising that they couldn't seal the deal show the incompetence and it's down to lack of understanding, & preparation in transfer business.

First of all, you may trust Ornstein, I do not. He, like every other journalist, is incentivized by different things and not truth. I've read enough BS on The Athletic by both him and Whitwell.
Second, I do not argue that the clubs you mention have not enquired about the players you mention. I argue the underlying sequence of events and logic. Yes, Liverpool probably probed Norwich for the price for Lewis. They probably did the same for many other players. I am certain we do the same.

As for our case with Sancho or Telles, would you then prefer us to move on and buy someone else when theoretically we could've reached a deal later in the transfer window? Just to be clear, I do not prefer such an option.

Nope cos they explored other targets and then came to telles. They also tied up other targets first. We literally had months of doing nothing.

That's just your opinion on Ornstein, in reality he's one of the most reliable source in the market right now. The sequence of events what I told you is fact. The BBC report was on 6th August when Liverpool's official bid was rejected, then they moved right away on 10th August (https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/53715580) in talk to sign Tsimikas.

You're missing the point. I even set good example of Reguilon and yet you are missing the point and asking whether we should move on from Telles and buy someone else. If we knew what we were doing, we should have moved on quicker from Reguilon to Telles but instead we waited for weeks until Real accepted Spurs's deal. That's one of good example and it's fact not just assumption.

Liverpool's negotiator or whoever in charge has understanding and knowledge about the transfer business, they knew when they need to keep pushing and they knew when they need to move on. How could you say the same with us when we are dragging transfer way too long and still failed to seal the deal, we don't know when we need to keep pushing and we don't know when we need to move on.
 
Porto wants £18m and we’re offering £12m surely we can meet in the middle and settle at £15m? Especially as Solskjaer clearly wants him. Stop fecking about and get it done Ed!! :mad:

It appears that you believe everything that you read from a media. That's fine, just not what I do. You also are convinced we were in for Reguilon and we weren't just used to pump up demand and force Tottenham's hand.

I do not defend our club and the way they are doing business. I have no idea how they do it and what is actually happening. But I am strongly against the media bs narrative that is being pushed hard and people tend to believe it.

One example from another of the 'most reliable sources in the market right now', Fabrizio Romano and his tweet about Dalot, saying that Milan agreed for no option or obligation to buy because Roma were also in for him. In previous days and during the same day there were many reports claiming that we prefer to sell than loan him. How is Roma's interest in Dalot any reason to remove any option or obligation to buy?

In my opinion, journalists who specialise in transfer news and rumors are absolute bull$hitters. That's not journalism, that's speculation and gossip. And I'm not interested in neither of those.

It's not coincidence that we are starting to begin in talk with Telles as soon as Spurs sealed Reguilon deal. The one thing you are missing is that I haven't used anything from Fabrizio Romano to back my assessment so you can't compare Ornstein & BBC with your case on Romano or speculation and gossip.

Struggling to sell players & trying to be smart in sealing the transfer deal by end up dragging it too long but end up with either losing the target or paying the same demand the other clubs are asking for. It has happened before multiple times.

The latest bid has already been rejected by the Portuguese club, meaning United’s chances of landing the Brazilian international left back are now fading, with Porto holding out for no less than £22m.

The 27-year old is out of contract at the Estadio do Dragao next summer.

I thought £15m would’ve got it done and that’s a fair price considering his contract situation but obviously not, can’t see this happening now.

Sometimes you just have to bite the bullet and pay what the selling club wants. I'm coming around fo the conclusion that United have drastically miscalculated this summers transfer market. It's clear that they expected clubs to sell players at a discount due to the decrease in revenue brought about by no fans at stadiums. But as of right now that hasn't really happened.

I'd sign Telles now even though he could be gotten for nothing next year. Holding off now will only leave us understrength at left back for another season and hurt our chances at winning trophies/making this season's top 4.

Just on their site, no names mentioned. Like Sky they have researchers scanning social media and news outlets. Unlike Sky they don't have twats like Seth and Solekhol spouting gibberish
