Over a measly 120m. It annoys me seeing all those £100m+ signings being made this window by other clubs.‘Talks ongoing’ won’ fecking hold my breath until we see a picture of him in the shirt. Have heard that phrase all too often this Summer.
Talks have been ongoing with Sancho for months, apparently
Telles who's soon to be 28 years old is not a "kid"
If we're talking in purely value terms. Sancho is 7 years younger and is a much bigger talent/player that will repay the investment, and in 5 years time after that has been paid his value will probably be around about the same or even higher. It's a better value deal comparatively, but we do need a back up LB and a left footed set piece taker so your point is a fair one, we'd be overpaying with a year left on his contract but I guess I shouldn't be too fussed about transfer amounts, it isn't my money!Irony? A position we need = left-footed LB. Plus : Left-foot, free-kick specialist - alternative to Fernandes. Buying Telles adds value to Rashford who plays much better when he has a full-back over-lapping. United win nothing without a full-squad.
Sancho will cost £250k/week plus capital outlay = £108m = £665k/week over 5 years.
Telles costs £18.3m = £72k / week over 5 years + salary. Let's assume his salary = £90k/week. Over 5 years he costs £162k/week (writing off any resale).
If we don't buy him now he goes to PSG. There's no Bosman option next summer. The alternative is 21-year old Ukrainian: Vitalii Mykolenko (who looks like a more defensive LB).
Telles injury record = good. Career total = 5 injuries, for 99 days. Worst was knee injury 2 years ago lasting 34 days.

See Adnan's post above.Well that's that then. We monitor situations, other teams make bids.
That went well. Oh well let’s buy that Ukrainian lad because it’s obvious we need to sign someone....anyone before this place implodesThe Ojogo report is from yesterday it seems, before. Bouhafsi broke the news.
Lets hope PSG come for Dalot insteadI don’t like the PSG link. They prepare bids much faster than us.
They have an oil tanker load of money more than usI don’t like the PSG link. They prepare bids much faster than us.
I think Shaw has suffered from a lack of runners at the back post in the past, our right wing has been desolate in that particular attack up until recently with post lockdown Greenwood.Oh I stand corrected. Shaw can cross a ball in a friendly
It’s just in games where it counts that he prefers to play safe and pass back
I‘ve always stipulated that the first thing defenders should do is defend well and I think Shaw does this well however what he lacks consistently is the ability to overlap and give an attacking option to Rashford or whoever is on the left. Doing it once against Villa hasn’t suddenly made him a great attacking LB.
Having said that, I’m happy to see him start at LB and have another LB as back up, be that Telles or whoever

Interesting that you say that. A couple of seasons ago I would have agreed with you as I felt he could become more progressive down the left but I don’t know why, maybe Jose not trusting him, but he never did. Our lack of progression down the right has also held us back somewhat so it is a whole team set up not just a Shaw thingI think Shaw has suffered from a lack of runners at the back post in the past, our right wing has been desolate in that particular attack up until recently with post lockdown Greenwood.
"Regarding PSG interest, Friday’s edition of Le Parisien seemed to dismiss it at this stage. Whilst they explained there had been some effort for Telles earlier in the window, it was stated ‘this track has not been reactivated’ despite an injury to Juan Bernat."
"The French newspaper made clear things could change, yet also made a point of saying PSG are not currently looking to sign a left-back, giving Layvin Kurzawa the chance to stake his claim."
Wouldn't you rather be the best Brazilian in the side alongside Fred and PereiraPSG desperately need a LB now - we don’t. I think he chooses Paris with neymar and Marquinhos there anyway.
It’s the typical Caf reactionI feel like people were talking about him in much more glowing terms before it looked like we might actually sign him.
Not it won't what's this obsession with playing 3 at the back anyway .We are looking at LB due to lack of depth there using Shaw and the new Lb in the same team regularly would mean lack of depth still remains the issue. If we do get him playing 3 in the back with Shaw as a LCB will be our best line up.
I can’t believe we are signing him. This is fecking huge. His attacking output at LB is unbelievable.
Good post.I wouldn’t be taking the words of a french journalist on a Brazilian player playing in the Portuguese league signing for Utd.
Let’s walk this through. How exactly does he get his information? The agent. Who is the players agent? Pini Zahavi. Who has Zahavi done an incredible amount of business with over the last few years? PSG. Who’s left back just done their cruciate ligament and is out for 9 months? Yep, you guessed it, PSG.
Look, we might sign him but everyone needs to take a step back here - this is no different to Reguillion. We had a conversation with the agent and it went no further. Who’s to say it isn’t the same here? I’ve just got a nagging suspicion based on who the agent is and the injury to Bernat that we’re getting used to bring PSG to the table.
Exactly.How many 100m signings?
