One of my all time favourites in both FM and FIFA. Finally we have a real opportunity to land him in real life.
Yeah, Mbappe was levels above. Thats why he went for 180m.Mbappe is an elite striker and many levels above Sancho imo. I think Barca and Atletico were massively ripped off for Dembele and Felix. But you are right in saying these fees set the tone for every future transfer.
It's actually like Football Manager now, offer 8 million for a 16 year old youngster who has high potential, selling club comes back saying they want 105 million. Madness.
Transfer fees being capped would be great, but it would just mean shady backhanders all the time.
Anyway, back on track. I hope we do get Telles. Bargain price for somebody who could take Shaws spot quite easily, especially when Shaw could get injured shaking his hand on arrival.
True. If we insist on Rashford on the left who likes to cut inside, we need a fullback who can provide width.I dont think you need to be an excellent defender to be a fullback any more. Look at all the top fullbacks in Europe, none of them are particularly good defensively. The role has changed massively in the last decade, its more about bombing foward in the modern game. Besides we already have a conservative right back in Wan Bissaka.
Shaw is a bit of a weird one, he isnt a top notch defender nor is he anything special going foward. A jack of all trades type of player. Gets the job down, but doesnt stand out either. If Telles hits the ground running, I reckon he'll displace Shaw as the first choice, not because he's a better player, but because he's an attacking fullback, which our team lacks.
So we've agreed terms with the player but are yet to agree a fee with the club.
Sounds familiar.
Surely we won't have a problem paying 20 million. So we've agreed terms with the player but are yet to agree a fee with the club.

We probably won’t. Just need about 8-10 days to prepare a bid and we should be ready.Surely we won't have a problem paying 20 million.
We are convinced we'll get him.We probably won’t. Just need about 8-10 days to prepare a bid and we should be ready.
Well we tried offer 20m + Pereira but Porto refused stating they only want the 20m.Why not give them Pereira as part of the deal? Speaks the language, could do a job for Porto.

He's 28 in December? Meaning in three years he'll be 35 in four years. In three years he'll be 36 in four years. Pass.
So many supporters seem to have a huge blind spot when it comes to the fact that Shaw misses at least a third of every season and the fact that Williams is the most obvious right back there is.
Wan-Bissaka and Williams works down the right. Shaw plus a genuine attacking option works down the left. If this kid is that attacking option then we’re filling a massive hole in the squad.
Lots of Dalot chat but I trust Ole on this one. He knows a good player and clearly doesn’t fancy him. A good loan might do the lad wonders, as he needs to get better at defending.
When I see Shaw put in one decent cross, I'll agree with you. Until then I'll stick to my assessmentHis crossing is not far better.
He creates 0.08 xG in non-setpieces.

This would be a brilliant signing. I'm pretty much as big a fan of Shaw as you'll find on here but Telles could not be a more different player, and it's vital to have a more attacking option down that side of the pitch. Especially as when Shaw does have decent attacking games, it's always because Rashford is on fire and is putting him round the corner a lot. Rashford, I'm sure, would appreciate a fullback who helps him attack rather than the other way round all the time. On top of that, as others have said, it's increasingly clear that it's not doing Williams any favours forcing him to be Shaw's back-up on the left when he should be AWB's on the right.
Would be funny after a summer that seemed nailed on to be a wash, investment-wise, if we ended up with Van de Beek, Telles and Sancho. That would better everyone's efforts (as things stand) bar Chelsea.

I'm sure he's retired and is a pundit or something. But Porto will take him over PereiraSavage
Telles vs Chilwell
https://www.thechelseachronicle.com...ft-back-targets-ben-chilwell-and-alex-telles/
Defensively, Chilwell is slightly better than Telles. Chilwell won more tackles per game (1.6 to Telles’ 1.2), more clearances per game (2 to 1.2) and more headers (2.2 to 1.7).
Meanwhile, Telles had the edge in interceptions (1.5 per game to Chilwell’s 1.1) and in facing advancing opponents (Telles was dribbled past 0.7 times per game on average to Chilwell’s one per game).
Telles provided more crosses per game (2.3 to Chilwell’s 0.7), more key passes per game (2 to 1.2) and had more shots per game (1.4 to 0.6) this season.
Irony? A position we need = left-footed LB. Plus : Left-foot, free-kick specialist - alternative to Fernandes. Buying Telles adds value to Rashford who plays much better when he has a full-back over-lapping. United win nothing without a full-squad.I'm not saying they're directly related, I'm just saying it'd be frustrating to see us spend €20 million on Telles with a year left on his contract, a bad value for money deal, whilst turning down to opportunity to sign Sancho, a good value for money deal.
