Evra was only suspect defensively towards the end. He was a beast defensively in his prime.
I don’t think that’s proof he wasn’t positionally suspect. He had the pace and stamina to recover, and he was just a lot better going forward imo. He was a very good defender, no question about it. Was he one of the best in the world? Not imo, and not nearly as good as Irwin. That’s not a slight on Evra by the way, more a homage to Irwin.

For those who’ve seen more of him, is he an option for our right wing in a pinch?

Could he be a bit like Baines? Very attacking, good crosser, good at set pieces but a little suspect defending?

Looking forward to seeing him play, but likely he will need a little time to settle.
I'd say Baines is a decent comparion actually.

If we can get a similar impact that he had on the Everton team it could work excellently. I just hope he gets forward and times his overlaps a lot better than Shaw managed - think he will be getting a lot of assists from that.

I would be very happy if we got that impact.

We’ve not seen any of it from Bruno at Utd, but is he a player who can get in the box and head the ball? It’s an area Pogba should be good at as well.

Unfortunately can’t see any of Greenwood, Rashford or Martial getting in the end of crosses. Obviously Cavani could make that difference.

Question I'm asking myself is should we change to a back 5 until our centrebacks play themselves back into some type of form?

I like the idea of a back three including Shaw as the LCB, with perhaps Maguire and Lindelof. Then have Telles and AWB as the wingbacks.

I think that might create a bit of a solid base for these clowns at Centreback to compose themselves over the next few games. Would also allow Telles to get straight into the mix and a few games under his belt.

What say the Caf?
Absolutely 100%. Will allow Telles to develop his game with us / in the Premier League and allow AWB to develop his attacking game (we saw improvements after winter break but he was knackered towards July), all whilst allowing the CB's to develop some form and we get some clean sheets in to gain defensive confidence. To me it's the obvious thing to do, but what do I know..

Edit: Hope he returns from Brazil's WC qualifying games in good shape

Yeah I still think it’s the way to go, at least for the next three/four games, until we have some form of composure at centre back.

I like the idea of giving Telles some game time straight away as well.

Posters have responded focussing on the attacking aspect of this suggestion, I’m talking more from a defensive perspective, to start more solidly after this international break.

We'll be relying a lot on he and Wan-Bissaka to provide our width tonight. It'll be a little insight to see if a diamond is a viable formation in the future. Very excited to see him, let's hope his crosses are all they've been hyped up to be.

I for one am glad that we finally have a player with a top knot at last!

It's clear that we've been missing this modern innovation

If he never deliver a good corner again I couldn’t care less. Worth all the money for his corners in this one half. Bless you Alex

Maguire will score a lot of goals from those corners, everyone in sure a good area for someone to attack the ball.

His crosses from corners are whipped with such vigor. Brings a tear to my eye.

Slotted in seamlessly and his left foot is quality.

Post match update: very much lived up to the hype.
