Really? I thought he got burned pretty much every time someone came down the left side in the second half, failed to track his runner on multiple occasions. Like you, I dislike those longballs he plays, they're never even close to accurate and just kill our possession.I thought he was much better defensively today then in other games (though maybe thats down to the opponent?) ... nice delivery as well.
Could do without those long punts though... It sometimes feels like he thinks all balls have to be hit as hard as possible.
Pretty clearly worse than Shaw in almost all departments but a fine backup that came cheaply. Thought his passing and off-ball movement was better than it has been today

Also drags our centrebacks and holding mids out of position trying to cover for him which has lead to dangerous cutbacks several times this seasonYep this is my gripe. No anticipation and was left stretching to close the cross down.
I assume you mean miles ahead up the touchline out of position, because Shaw is better than Telles at everything bar set pieces and looking sexy.Think he’s miles ahead of Shaw.
Yes, at the very least he always provides a threat up the left that opposition have to think about, as well as some ok ball progression with the centremid/LW. Williams trying to play out of pressure when Shaw was injured at the backend of last season was tragic.I think he's a very capable back up and his set piece delivery is very useful, he's not as good as Shaw but on current form I don't think many are. I think Telles is a smart signing because he can still provide something when Shaw isn't playing, last season we really felt Shaw's absence particularly towards the end of the season but now we have Telles in it's not as much of dramatic decline in quality so we can give Shaw valuable rest.
Decent backup.
How long did it take Shaw to get 2 assists by the way?
Agreed there’s more to come and I think he’s playing within himself but at least he is pushing Shaw to a new level so all good. He's a solid squad player. I don't know why people were expecting prime Roberto Carlos!
I think he'll be even better next season.
Yeah, he is like a Marcos Alonso type of signing, but even cheaper than that. The guy is 28 or something and never really played in a league with such high tempo, as you said I think he is doing fine. His left foot is dangerous and we'll see something special soon enough. He is a good LB that provides something else. For the money we spent on him, he is doing fine. He is not a world beater.

I have a very hard time seeing that Telles is better than Brandon Williams. I would argue that they are approximately at the same level. Therefore, I would prefer Williams, who is much younger and an academy player. They have a bit of the same strengths and weaknesses: They are good offensively, but they watch too much football defensively. An attacker can run fairly easily in the back of both of them.
