I think Smalling has turned out to be Vidicsque, too bad he is all alone so he has no one to bail him out when he shits the bed once in a while. I think we need a ball playing CB more.

That's what a partnership should be about, ain't it? And tbf Smalling hasn't shat the bed that much since the Man City sending off but he needs a partner that can cover his ass when that happens, at he moment he has Blind who gets outpaced and skinned far too easily for comfort.
Exactly. To be fair, I think it would be better for his partner to plug any holes rather than covering smallings ass and getting shit all over themselves.
The holes are there because Smalling is surrounded by square pegs in round holes from Young to Darmian, when you don't have competent fullbacks your Cbs are liable to be pulled around - which isn't a good thing at the best of times but when you have Blind as the other CB it's disastrous.
I don't buy this Smalling is magnificent hype, however he's our best CB and he does need help. All the others CB options are simply not good enough and should be sold or moved to their natural role
Blind fumbles with his balls far too often for my liking, pisses himself whenever somebody with greater ball technique comes near him.

It's not hype though is it, he's been our best player and arguably the best centre back in the league all season.
The fact we've had a patched up defence since about the 6th league home shows how well he's been doing.
Yes he didn't have his best game against Newcastle but it happens, Aslong as he's up to speed against Liverpool is fine with me.
