Aleksandar Dragović - defender - possible target?

Not good enough. He is Alaba's buddy since they were 10 or 11 - played together already in the Austria Vienna youth. If he had enough quality for the big leagues or teams Bayern would have already gotten him some years ago.

Like us with Pogba?

I think we should go on with the good, old United tradition to sign a relatively unknown defender with Serbian parents in January. ;)

Interesting, never heard of this guy, hope hes good, and hope its true!

Interestingly he was in the Basel team that got to the 12/13 Europa league semis. We're knocked out by Chelsea.

Ha I'd love that.

Defensively better than what we have atm. Not the finished article yet but he's still only 23. Really stepped it up in the last 1 or 2 years. I'm a big fan of him.

On a side note, he once claimed that the hardest player he ever had to play against was Nani.

TBF Nani back in 2011 was some player

Definitely.
Had some bigger names in his pocket though that's why I found it quite interesting.

Btw the article originates from the Krone Zeitung which is a complete shit paper although it has the highest circulation volume of all newspapers in Austria.
They don't usually do transfer gossip though afaik.

No idea who he is but he seems a far cry from Varane/Laporte/Marquinhos in terms of the place he plies his trade. What foot is he?

Rojo, Smalling and Dragovic is quite dynamic defensive department but we could also use some experienced defender in future to add more variety.

He's no worse than Laporte or Marquinhos imo. Varane is probably on a different level potential wise but playing for a much better team.

It could also mean a heavy clear out in defense.

I'm with you on this, I'm pretty sure we'll be after Hummels in the summer, so if we get this guy now some heads are gonna role.

You mean quarter final, right ?

IIRC the teams were Madrid, Malaga, Bayern and Dortmund.

Edit: Barcelona not Malaga.

@Godfather What's he like stylistically? Good on the ball? Right-footed?

Good on the ball, even took a penalty against Brasil in a friendly which he scored from, brings the ball well out of defense. Very good in the air and generally the best CB we have in Austria.
Haven't watched him much since he moved to Ukraine but he seems to play very well there. For Austria he is doing brilliantly well. Matured a lot.

Oh and left footed from what I know.

@Godfather who is better between him and Schar? They played together at Basel right?

He's right-footed, decent on the ball, good in the air even though he isn't the tallest. Haven't followed him in Kiew, though. He shouldn't be too expensive, which would be another upside.

The article is from Krone, which usually is quite reliable. So it's probably true.

He's pretty good with both feet, I'm not sure whether he is right footed or not.

Wouldnt call Krone reliabe neither mate.

He has only missed 14 days due to injury in the last 3 years. Just sign him up Woody.

The United curse will of course fall upon him, just like fecking Rojo...
