Signing him would be a great step in fixing the cracks\gaping holes in our defence
The new Vidic?
Nah, if we are buying a centre half then he was to be absolute top quality such as Hummels, Godin, Silva or Varane. Otherwise I'd rather just give Smalling and Jones games to develop with Rojo as back up.

Chances that he is one of the supposed three deals we have lined up? Not the biggest name so he'd be more likely to wrap up a deal early.
If Jones and Smalling have really convinced Van Gaal of their worth then would he still be in the market for a CB? We have Rojo, Evans, McNair and Blackett too.. Unless we're looking to sell one of them, should we be looking at another defender?

We most likely won't get the most established defenders. But there's no reason why a younger defender can't out perform someone like hummels who has been part of a shit defence. It's not set in stone who is top quality. It's more about getting someone on the brink of becoming a top top defender and needing just the platform.Nah, if we are buying a centre half then he was to be absolute top quality such as Hummels, Godin, Silva or Varane. Yes, but Van Gaal did say he'd give everyone a chance to prove themselves and those who are in the squad have all proved themselves with the exception of Falcao, Rafael and to an extent RvP.This could be said of the entire squad. For example if Fellaini and Herrera are integrating and developing nicely, then why should we be looking at a new midfielder when we will those two alongside the like of Carrick and Blind available.
I do think LvG will buy a defender, midfielder, and attacker - which may well end up being Dragovic, Vidal or Strootman, and Depay or Bale.

Also we have players doing well on loan as well like Nani, Lingard, Keane, Henriquez, Pearson.. Does Van Gaal give them a shot or buy?
Going by his history at other clubs he's always preferred to promote from within rather than buy big names.
IMO the positions we outright need some strengthening at the moment is RB and CM.
I wouldnt be surprised if LvG gives McNair a shot next season and doesnt buy an established CB..
McNair seems to have fallen off the pecking order with everyone healthy. Next year, I'd imagine it will be Smalling-Jones-Rojo-Evans in that order, which would leave McNair and Blackett as prime contenders for a loan.
As for RB, i don't see any better options than the players we have right now. Valencia has done a good job and is obviously quite a threat going forward, which will overlap well with Mata or Di Maria next year.
Yeah, with 4 older CB's in the squad I dont think Van Gaal will see a need to bring in a 5th established one. He might give a younger player that spot.
If we sell Evans, then yes, I think we might be planning to bring in someone like Hummels.
In the RB position, we have no cover in case Valencia gets injured and Rafa doesnt seem to be LvG's good books at the moment. do we sell Rafa?
I don't think any player is not in LvG's good books. It just appears as such because Valencia has continued to play after Rafa's injury healed. Having both of them will be more than enough at RB. Evans is obviously the big question mark. Can't see him staying, and if he leaves, that would probably result in a new CB coming in.
Austrian newspaper "Krone" and sports web "laola1.at" report Barcelona is close to sign Dragovic.
Can't see it happen, but his manager is doing a good job with all these rumours.
Not this again. The story last window pretty much came from posts on here talking him up
The caf really does believe that they control the fecking football media world don't they? Do you think random caftards made a thread about a young centre-half from Kiev before they saw articles linking him to us, on the basis that we are all so far at the forefront of European football and have been personally scouting him for United in advance?

The story came a few days after people started discussing him on here, and there was never anything to actually link us to him that window. And then it turned out we had no interest, when half of the posters were convinced he was signing.
The posts created the excitement, the news stories latched on, which caused more excitement. And nothing was actually happening, nor was there any reason to think there was
