Television Alan Partridge-Funniest thing on tv

Damn. It has that guy in it who I have an irrational hatred for - Darren Boyd. Played the irritating neighbour in Saxondale. I just can't abide his face for some reason.

Here's a Youtube embed for ease of viewing...

I actually only laughed at the Youtube video "That should've really been fenced off" bit...

...but I'm gonna work on the theory that good films don't put all their best material in the trailer.

Back next week finally. Top one.

An exclusive extended trailer to mark the return of Alan Partridge's Mid Morning Matters to Sky Atlantic on Tuesday 16th February. This second series sees the master at work as he broadcasts his daily radio show at North Norfolk Digital to literally hundreds of listeners. Whether reprimanding a celebrity chef for the use of fennel in a recipe, or making history by having a massage live on air, Alan never fails to push the boundaries of broadcasting.

'The screening of Mid Morning Matters on Sky Atlantic sees the coming together of two powerful ideas: Sky ('Believe in Better’) and Alan Partridge (‘Be the Best’). Two compelling brands with two equally valid mission statements, although if we’re being honest ‘believing in better’ isn’t as impressive as ‘being the best’. (‘Being' feels more emphatic than just ‘believing' while the ‘best' is by definition one up from ‘better’). I’m not going to get into a debate about it though. That’s part of what 'being the best' is. Thank you for your time and I urge you to enjoy the series.' – Alan Partridge

Alan Partridge’s Mid Morning Matters starts Tuesday 16th February at 10pm on Sky Atlantic. The complete series will also be available on Sky Box Sets from the 16th

Watched the first one last night on Sky Atlantic. @ his play with the inadvertent travel report and the Stephen Hawking smash robot voice.

Someone has posted the first 4 up on dailymotion you lucky lucky people...

No worries. 1'st one was a bit weak but 2,3 and 4 have had me in stitches at various points.

Partridge is the greatest comedy creation ever for me and will be Coogans lasting achievement.

The Gibbons brothers who wrote this absolutely get the character too and not just on a "kiss my face", "jurassic Park" level but everything that makes him tick. Coogan of course brings the intonation and facial expressions that you can't get from the writing alone. It's genius

Here's the theme from Blue Peter...

I've watched the first 2 and had to tear myself away to do some actual work, but I'm itching to watch them all, if only because I doubt they'll all be up for long..

I thought the first one dragged initially, but once his 'play' started, it was gold! The traffic report correction had me

The Gibbons brothers who wrote this absolutely get the character too and not just on a "kiss my face", "jurassic Park" level but everything that makes him tick. Coogan of course brings the intonation and facial expressions that you can't get from the wiring alone. It's genius.

As virtual nobodies (they don't even have a wiki page) who've come from nowhere and basically revitalised the character after Coogan said he was done, they've done extraordinarily well. They wrote the book and film too. Every fan thinks they can write Partridge, but as you say, it's much harder than you think to hit just the right level of amusingly banal. I remember an interview with Iannucci where he said it took them ages to agree on Norwich as his home, because it couldn't just be a funny name, or a parochial place, it had to be just the right amount of everything.

They're only in their early 30s too, so I'm very interested in what they come up with post-Partridge.

Damn you Mockney you've quoted the post where I misspelt writing.

Just watched the final 2. So good. I look forward to absorbing that material into my own personality like I did the last series.

I've got visions of holding a pillow over my best friends face at his hospital bedside, tired from his incessant quoting "why hasn't he been cut off? ", finally pulling the pillow back and walking away as he yet again opens his mouth for that final quote only to be trumped by my own "you're not still doing it?"

I'll take my shirt off.

So I just saw there is a new show (Alan Partridge’s Scissored Isle) starting tomorrow at 10PM on Sky Atlantic.

I really cannot wait to see this. Like really!

I love that scene at the end of season one when he turns up to that funeral in that Castrol GTX jacket

Elvis, I never knew you had this cultural hole in your soul...

You've got 20 odd years of material to work through now. You lucky lucky bastard.

Watch both series of I'm Alan Partridge. You'll love it.
you need to start from the beginning to really feel the character...start with the day today (because it's fecking hilarious) then Knowing Me Knowing you, then I'm Alan Partridge, then the mid morning matters series...then Alpha Papa...

It charts the rise and fall and rise and fall again of one of the best characters ever written...

The book, I, Partridge, is also a brilliant fake-autobiography, as is the audiobook he does in character. But you should get up to Mid Morning Matters first (it leads chronologically into the film).. or at least the second series of I'm AP.

Shame they pulped "Bouncing Back"...

It was "Lovely stuff" according to Shaking Stevens...

The first series is still the best of the lot. That shouldn't take anything away from the rest, but nothing tops the first series of IAP for me.
