Dolberg, even though he is doing well, knows he is far from the finished product and feels at home at Ajax where he gets time to mature. He already stated he stays if ajax wants to go on with him. He knows United would never play him as first striker anyway as he is too young. They will just splash some cash around for the next best thing. Look at all the Chelsea loanes. Players with no home.

You can't say "This player sucked and that player sucked, so all players from their league must suck." It's a statement so lacking understanding that I was surprised there was no white text. You look at the individual, his class and what kind of head is on his shoulders and then decide.



Our "Monster CB" never played against Depay as he is new to our league. Also an easy fact.

Yes, we concede goals. We don't make these flipping awesome unbeaten runs as United does, while every one is clapping and dancing at their awesome display of football.
No, this season, we concede goals, but we make alot of them too. And we play beautifull for the most time since a long time.

We won't be champions in Holland, we probably will not win the Europa League, since United are on such a different level apparently, but our season has already been succesful.
We can watch the football again from our club that we started to support for that reason, beautiful play.

It might be that we don't show up at all and are bullied around the pitch, but if we play at the best we can, than we, Ajax, are gonna have some fun.

Welcome to the caf. Every league is crap except for the EPL and La Liga sometimes. Been trying to argue against this for a while now but i gave up. Every player coming from Holland, Germany, France, Portugal, Belgium, Turkey etc are crap because they aren't Premier league proven in a cold windy monday night at the Britannia. The relative strenght of continental football.

@Heista, Great post:) For me, who does not follow Eredivisie, can only express a cautious view on the Feyenoord team- based on the few times I have seen Feyenoord play in Europe this season. For instance; I got the impression that very few teams would survive away at Rotterdam this season (dutch as well as other European teams). What have Gio Van Bronchorst done? Or is it just great timing with signings of experienced players and a good generation? This is a club that has not won the league in the 21st century, although it is a big club, I still can't believe the season they have had.

I have actually not seen Ajax this season, but they have to be a quite good side when they are in the final (duh), and especially after beating Lyon. As a neutral fan of this final, I expect the game between Ajax and United will be entertaining:drool:, even though it is a shame that Zlatan will miss it.

Awesome post, especially coming from Ajax fan on Man Utd forum ahead of EL final clash between the two teams. Ajax have a fantastic academy and play eye-pleasing style of football. I hope Mou's pragmatism wins, but you guys will be fresh and being under-dogs the pressure won't be on your young talented team. However, if we lose Mou will be totally devastated just like our Board.

And Veltman the right back, although I think his replacement Tete is better but their manager doesn't it seems. Same goes for Schone, has been overtaken by Van de Beek in my opinion, I expect Schone to be on the bench next season.
 
People trying to play down Ajax in this but let's be honest they have a young exciting side whilst United are in transition, suffering with injury to key players and have a hectic schedule to contend with thanks to the English FA.

That said both teams are in the final so have clear talent and ability to win the competition. I expect United to have too much for them with Pogba key in midfield - just think he'll bully them.

In addition to that not many defenders can handle Marcus Rashford, just ask Chelsea, so I thoroughly expect him to cause serious issues for Ajax's young back line.
 
Looking at P.L table and It's very much top 4 gone, so all we have is this. Players must die for it, and hope pressure will not drag us down.
 
Spent a lot of time lulling over the top 4 race, but with this latest round of results looking like increasingly confirming the top 4 as it is now, it's time to shift my attention fully to the final.

Still 10 days away but Jose and co. will be making every minute count as part of prep I'm sure.

You sound like Mourinho, it's embarrassing for United to make up excuses like that when you've spend that much money and you're up to a team that has to let players go when they start maturing. Seasons are always decided in may, if you have money you can rotate and start resting players well before christmas.

The difference is that Ajax is playing well with very limited players, and United is playing poorly with excellent players.

That said both teams are in the final so have clear talent and ability to win the competition. I expect United to have too much for them with Pogba key in midfield - just think he'll bully them.

If they get the ball, I expect it will be going too fast in midfield for Pogba, he won't keep up with the positional awareness required. He's not up to one midfielder, he's up to a midfield playing very well together.
 
Anyone think we should give Romero some game time in the league before the final? Assuming he will start of course.
 
In 25 mins, Smalling & Jones have shown nothing that gives me confidence in either player starting the final.
 
I changed my mind. De Gea has to play the Final. It's harsh as feck, it might backfire because Romero is good at organising but we need our best keeper to dig us out the shit, we cannot defend with this back 4.
 
I'm getting worried about this instead of playing our own game we always try to counter the oppositions tactics, Jose will set up too defensively against Ajax and that will play right into their hands.

'Ajax have a great attack let's start with 6 at the back' is the attitude I see from our team at the moment.
 
I think if Jones or Smalling are going to be playing against this Ajax attack then attack is probably the best form of defence. Dominate possession, keep them on the back foot and give them the fewest possible amount of chances to attack. We're so easy to unlock right now.

If I sound like Mourinho for stating the facts then I apologise. We can always pretend United don't have any injuries and aren't playing 3 games in the next week if you like to Ajax's none?

Your argument is very one sided with regards to Pogba. It's not without the ball I'm talking about it's when he is on it himself.

This has surely got to be our strongest team and best bet for the EL trophy. The only two positions up for grabs are the CB pairing, due to the stupidity of Bailly. Got a feeling it'll be Smalling-Jones, but I'd be more tempted to put Smalling-Blind back there. Harsh on Romero, but none of the other players deserve even a hint of a look in.
 
Can only hope Smalling and Jones find some fitness and form from somewhere for the final.
 
So much pressure on us to win this now.. wouldn't put it past us to feck it up and fail to do so what with the amount of losers in our squad.
 
You just know that one of Smalling or Jones will do something daft and cost us the game. Romero has been good in the lead up but De Gea is a must to start especially with those two hacks in front of him.
 
We have not won for 3 games now, we need a couple of wins in the remaining league games to raise confidence a bit. Imagine going into this game having not won a game in 5 matches.
 
Martial has to start, if someone's going to pluck something out of nothing, which let's be honest is probably what we'll need, he's the most likely.

Good point. Southampton away will be hard enough, and Palace at home will probably feature the likes of McTominay, Willock and Sean Goss. Going into the final without momentum and confidence could cost us against an exuberant Ajax side with very little to lose.
 
Martial over Lingard is so fecking obvious. I'll be gutted when Lingard starts against Ajax.

Having to choose 2 from Blind, Jones and Smalling is fecking depressing. All of them aren't good enough.

Jones would be alright if he can shake the rust off between now and then. And avoid any aerial assaults on ground-based targets...

They've finished their league though, so they won't be coming in with any more momentum than we will.

It's the only way we can approach things doing what we're doing.
Imagine playing the majority of the starting team for 3 games in 10 days before. That'd be mad.

Southampton should probably see a strong lineup, but Palace will be the chimpiest lineup we've field for a long long time.
I'm so glad I passed my tickets on!
 
Let's just get out there and overwhelm them from the start.

I think we should play our most talented players, feck staying defensive.

TBH, United didn't scare me today. No, not the strongest line-up. Yes, United has more quality players. But they have to bring a lot more energy to the game to beat Ajax. If not, they will be overrun. Individual quality is nothing when you're not playing as one.
