If united are smart this deal could be agreed before the season end. Other players have announced clubs they will be playing for already. Like the guy from leicester going to atletico. Get it done and dusted so we can focus on other targets.

West Ham, Tottenham Hotspurs and Aston Villa would benefit greatly from having Harry Maguire in their back line. I’m not joking to get my point across either.

He’s an improvement on Wings, Dier and Ogbonna. Kurt Zouma too. So that answers your question. All clubs can afford the fee. He’ll have to take a wage drop but with a new owner I’m sure we will cover the difference to get him out.
Maguire is an improvement of Mings, Dier and Ogbonna, Kurt Zouma is not my argument. Let me repeat it again, my argument is who is this desperate club that will spend £30m on 30 years old Maguire this summer. West Ham, Tottenham Hotspurs and Aston Villa aren’t desperate to spend £30m within their budget when they have enough CB and need the cash to cover other positions.

We as the bigger club were reluctant to spend £30m on 30 years old Trippier couple years ago when clearly Trippier is and was better than our right back, what makes you think West Ham, Tottenham Hotspurs and Aston Villa willing to spend £30m on 30 years old Maguire?

Why does a club have to be desperate? That’s just your personal opinion.

We shall see in the summer.

Because to spend £30m on 30 years old centre back who has £21m transfer value in transfermarkt, a club has to be desperate. What’s the value in investing £30m on ageing centre back? Only desperate club will do that.

Trippier cost £12m plus adds on to join Newcastle. Realistically, that’s about the amount of money we can get, and if we are lucky enough it will be £15m-£20m.

Signing Rabiot on a free would be a no-brainer. Just like signing Eriksen on a free was a no-brainer. This is the type of smart business United need to get in the habit of.

This would allow us to sell McTominay and let Sabitzer return to Bayern. We'd be left with a player that's better than either of them, and a net positive of probably 20 million in the transfer fund, assuming someone will pay that amount for McTominay, which I think they will.

This will be smart business while selling Donny and Scott we will make our midfield better. Have some funds also left to get a top ST and maybe GK?

£30m for an England CB + years of experience in premier league is not really big money. Can easily see him go to Spurs as they desperately need an improvement in their back line. Worst GA in top 13 and they will need a leader there.

He's on £190k per week though. For Spurs only Son and Kane get that.

Trippier is an England full back + years of experience in PL and also La Liga winner and he only go for £12m plus adds on. If we want to be realistic, Maguire would cost around the same or max reach to £20m.

Spurs don’t normally sign old players for big money like that and I would be very happy to see Spurs spend £30m on Maguire or even use Maguire to reduce Kane’s fees by £30m.

However, we had missed our chances in getting decent value in selling Maguire. I mentioned it last year that it was our best chance to sell Maguire for decent value because chelsea were desperate for new CB and they were linked to sign him, and we should sign akanji to replace him instead to make some profit in return. But we didn’t.

I think we are signing rabiot. Two reliable sources had said that we are interested in him and ten Hag had been in contact with the player. Great upgrade to McFred to provide rotation option for Casemiro and Eriksen. He’s french international starting XI midfielder and that’s not an easy spot to win. I hope we sell McFred though.

Martial has been at United for eight seasons?!? I would never have thought that. He's frequently described as a talent that your Manager could potentially unlock, so I always think of him as a youth prospect. He's only six months younger than Gabriel Jesus.

Tony signed with us on September 1, 2015...so he's in eighth season at OT now.

Someone here hammered me (all on good fun, no harm done) for suggesting that Martial has had only 3 or 4 outstanding games for us over the last eight seasons. "Outstanding" is a highly subjective word but I think we can all agree, for example, that even though Martial scored a nice goal against Wolves last weekend that his overall performance was far from outstanding. In any event, something has gone with Martial as a footballer, as there's no doubt whatsoever that when he joined United he had the look of a future all-worlder.

Sell McFred, and give their game time to our CM youth. But we just extend Fred contract for another year. So he will be here.

Yes because most clubs decide what a player is worth via transfermarket. Do you genuiely think nobody would spend over £20m on Maguire? I know he has been dreadful here but come on you are basing the argument on just comparig him to Trippier. I kow he has been awful here but "only a desperate team" is stretching it a bit. Forgetting the wages there are plety of premiership teams would liek Maguire i there side, quite a efw pretty big ones I actually think he would be a good signing for too at £40m odd.

Seems the tide has tured o Rabiot as a siging from last season. I know we need a lot of signings and budget for that is limited, but it does feel people are pushing for signigs as they are free, not saying in this case but generally. Why do we need to make a free signigs to sell McTominay and let Sabitzer leave.

As for the Erikson no braier, beyong a striker, a lot of people are saying how much of a priority the right partner for Casemeiro is. A positio Eriksen, even if free was siged for ad a position Erikse had an injury lay off for that seemed to force our hand into signig Sabitzer ad Eriksen will eed replacing probably within a season or two, so has it really solved anything or merely plugged it and made the problem to a degree ongoing?

Looking like this is on.

Our very own Emmanuel Petit  (...just not quite as good or as handsome)

transfermarket is just reference of others value the player. Do you have reference? No.

Trippier is just an example of similar profile. Good england national team defender on his 30ish. Do you have example? No.

What do you have, just your ideal wish.

There was a thread about which midfielder to sign that can play DM and CM because we need a midfielder who can cover for Casemiro and Eriksen. Rabiot ticks the boxes and he's pretty good option as he's France international team's starting XI midfielder. He's not the best option because the best option will cost a lot but he's a good option that we need.

Very true but if it means we could get a decent priced tempo controlling CM then bonus. Like I said in earlier post we need one for the games against well organised teams.

Isn't this Rabiot lad on silly wages and an ego too much for every club he has been to?. No problem child please, don't care how good he is.

You'll probably right in a different situation but right now we have a budget of 100m that's going to be spent solely on a striker.

We can't risk our whole summer and buy a player with the only available money we have especially when our owners aren't clear yet.

We need a number 8 to start ahead of Eriksen in my opinion more importantly

Yup. Eriksen should be a rotation option with Bruno for the AM role. We need a young back up to Casemiro and 2 new box to box/controlling midfielders.

what this year has thought us is that we are severely lacking in midfield because our second string (Fred,McT,Donny) are no where near good enough.

Trippieris English which is about the only similarity, he is a right back not centre back, hasnt gone for a big fee to the club bought from, was transferred from a different country with very differrent fees to the premiership at the moment and didt have very long on his contract...apart from that, yes very similar profile.

Seing some of your post, you seem to like providig references "trasfer market" "brief of stats" "opinions of another poster"......a bit strange when talkking on these points of players we should and shouldnt sign....you havent even seen play, so no will stick with you respoding to your ow question for me, to me ad say I dont have any references....as your reference is about as relevant as someone applyig to a job with PETA and providig a reference from Ronald McDonald

Full back like Trippier is proven with good amount of end product in PL and La Liga, he is also an England National Team who tends to get picked over James and Trent. But because he was on his 30ish, the cost was around £12m plus adds on. It's a valid logic to think that 30 years old Maguire will cost around the same or around £15m or £20m max.

All I need is just some evidence or reference or whatever reason to show that clubs will spend £30m on 30 years old defender this summer. There has to be a logic or reason why you think clubs will spend £30m on Maguire this summer, otherwise you are just giving me random thing without being realistic. So far you have provided none and therefore the argument of team will pay £30m on 30 years old Maguire this summer remains very weak.

Sure but we ain't got the money so if I have to choose, I would rather have an upgrade keeper, an upgrade striker, and an upgrade right back while still playing Eriksen + using Rabiot (free agent) to rotate with Eriksen.

If we're looking for a no 8 who can replace Erikssen, I'm surprised we're not looking at a younger candidate. Rabiot has had only one good season during his Juventus career, his contract year. There are other decent young no 8's we can target, like Enzo Le Fee, who won't cost a bomb and will still allow us to bring in a young DM as Case understudy.

If we were to put Maguire on the market, in my opinion we’d get 30m+
just because it hasn’t worked out for him at United doesn’t mean that he’s a bad player
