She’s not controlling him, you weirdos, she’s his agent. She’s performing the job she’s contractually obliged to.

Yeah very true, just wish we would find a compromise with her but can't see that ever happening

What's the rumoured package he actually wants? Seen loads talk about him asking for excessive wages but not seen what those actually are.

He's a free agent so the wages are always going to sound mad.

I'm sure I have seen the figure €40m banded about which is agent fee, signing on fee and wages. I don’t know how true that actually is though

Apparently a £12.6m signing on fee and £8m a year which is around £150k but we don't know if that's gross or net which makes a huge difference

Still seems like a reasonable price, however presume there isn't space in the squad as can only register 25 Premier League players

Most of them are temporary cash millionaires save for the ones that are financially savvy or surround themselves with trusted advisors that are
Premier League players have a great retirement plan and funds. There are players that have pissed it all away gambling and are doing better than the average person despite barely working because of that safety net. Also, if they're not out there burning bridges they have a huge network of job opportunities. If a player goes bankrupt he goes back to the square 1 of a young nepo baby.

Good points, but even with the retirement plans, pensions and connections, it's estimated that 40% of professional footballers file for bankruptcy within 5 years of retirement.

This covers lower leagues as well to be fair, but the vast majority of PL players especially those not among the highest wage earners will have money worries after retirement as they navigate a new financial landscape where thier spending habits post career have to drastically change

First time in ages we’re actually seeing a Rabiot - United connection. This is good news.

I hope we’re getting him.

Is the guy actually difficult? No.
Necessary to fill the gap in midfield? Yes.
Expensive? Perhaps a bit.
Worth it? Totally.
Any alternatives available? Nope.

You would think if that was the case then quotes will have leaked out saying he's not happy with the level of demands his mum has made
He's not gonna do that, he wants his washing done!

Wow is his mum really his agent? His mum? A football agent? Mad. Imagine having a family member who wasn't your Dad, or brother or an uncle, or a male cousin, as your agent. Mad. His actual mum. Bet she's moody. And temperamental and unreasonable.

I remember this study being done on NFL players and this being the number but I don't remember it being done on PL footballers. If it was it does matter which year it was done and who it was done on. Something like an Allen Iverson case is rare in football. A player who plays 1 season in the PL is not on the same stable ground as someone who has played for 5 seasons you can assume because it's not paid as well. That being said, Icelandic players who have played mostly in the Championship are rich by Icelandic standards in our much more expensive economy climate. The money in football now is absolutely nuts. If you pay your taxes on time and don't gamble it away you are set for life but even though they are set players still seek out some kind of employment which means that all the money thet have earned is still extra on top of their new salary.

I doubt she's  actually his agent.

I mean, come on.
