Daft idea because we can all see that it's not going to happen any time soon, but I'd love to see him in the #10 role. His passes yesterday proved that he can pick any through ball to open up the defence and as Polish commentators said, he's got some kind of laser in his foot.
Only from United fans. Take 10 neutrals (better if they aren't neither Dutch or British) and all 10 of them will say that Cruyff was the better player. Cruyff is in the category of Pele and Maradona, Best is a bit lower.

I think Best at his absolute peak was better than Cruyff, but Best partied his career away. In terms of skill and vision they were very similar, but Best was a better athlete.
I saw them both at their peak .... very different players in style. Bestie was much more skillful, Cruyff had a better range of passing. Would love to have both in a team but if I could o ly have 1 it would be best. At his peak he was unstoppable.

Have you ever seen Cruyff play? Both of them were at their peaks in or around the same time but you're talking like you watched Cruyff every week, but you're going on hear say for Best. I know plenty of people who'd say Best was the better footballer of the two. I know plenty who'd say Cruyff was better. I also know plenty who would say that Best was arguably the Best of all Time on pure talent but obviously, being from Northern Ireland was never going to have a world stage to prove it on like Pele, Maradona and Cruyff and having a drink problem, never made the most of his career.
Now I'm going on hear say for both players but there seems to be no denying George Best at his peak was one of the greatest to ever play the game. As was Cruyff. It's definitely not only United fans who think this either.
From what I've seenI think Ajax played differently to United and United played half their games on mud, where you couldn't pass a long the ground properly. And Best didn't fulfill his potential, he could have still become a better player. So overall you have to say that Cruyff was the better player because he fulfilled his potential.
I don't know about that. He maybe didn't play at his peak for as long as he could have but I don't think there is any doubt he reached his potential and was one of the best to ever play the game. He didn't sustain that for as long as he could alright. I think Cruyff had the better career and where Best falls down is longevity, but Best definitely reached his potential. Pele and many, many others said he was the greatest player in the world at one point or another!
After the '68 final he lost his focus and was never quite the same player again IMO. He was just 22. I'm convinced we never saw the best of Best.
Is he feck. Ask Pele what category Best was in.
There is a reason why Cruyff is in every top 5 list. Him, Pele, Maradona, Beckenbauer and now likely Messi are always on that list. Best usually isn't even in top 10 lists and players like Di Stefano, Eusebio and possibly even Garrincha, Platini, Puskas and Charlton are above him.

Well, write in google best players ever and I can guarantee you than in absolute majority of them Cruyff is higher than Best.
I have watched videos of both Cruyff and Best and I don't think that it is even close who was better. Just because Best played for us doesn't make him a better player than Cruyff who I rate as much (if not higher) than Maradona and higher than Pele.

I didn't say Best was better. He was, in my opinion, but I didn't say he was. He definitely wasn't "a category below Cruyff". It's a pointless argument, because you aren't changing my mind and I doubt I'll change yours. My disagreement was with your statement that United have never had a player as good as Cryuff, and I think Best was every bit as good.
In fairness to Revan, a lot of the time Pele has no clue what he's talking about.

I've seen plenty of videos from both, and best was of course one of the best ever as well, he just wasn't on cruyffs level IMO. Cruyff was on the same level as maradona and pele, whereas best was arguably a level below that because of he wasn't at his peak for long. You can't just ignore his drinking problems, because they had an impact on his career. Ronaldinho at his best was arguably up there with the best of all time, but the fact that he withered away into what he is now pretty quickly means he'll never be ranked as highly as he should have been.
Anyways, the bigger problem I had was listing scholes, Robson, Edwards and Ronaldo as better players then cruyff. Best you can make an argument for, but for most neutrals around the world, they would say cruyff was a level above him.

Ronaldo as the player has reached Best's level IMO, but not at the time when he was playing for us. Scholes, Robson and Edwards better than Cruyff is just completely ridiculous.
Agree with your last point. People always tend to overrate their players but neutrals have no reason to do that. And for the majority of neutrals Cruyff is in top 5 or top 3 players of all time. Best sometimes make the top 10 list, sometimes not.
Would be happy if Adnan becomes only half as good as either of them two though.

I remember Ronaldo's first match....he was devastatingly good. Janujaz is still a couple of notches below him. Saw Cruyff only after he was destroying teams...so Janujaz may well get there.

He's got amazing vision. Yesterday he completed more brilliant passes than you can see from Young or Val over the course of a whole season.

After watching him start twice you think he could be the next George Best? Rooney was regarded as one of the top 3 or 4 prospects in the world at his age. Januzaj isn't. He's a good young player, no doubt about that, but don't get carried away.
