He was always going to be included at this time so I don't think it was a negotiation tactic. He qualified as homegrown recently, if he was included before now he'd have been a "foreign" player for us forever.
People can stop panicking now at least. Knighthood for Woodward on the way. The guy knows how to get a deal done.

Not a negotiation tactic perhaps but still a sign of intent. We've also given him much playing time since the season started, including starting him in a tricky away fixture at Sunderland. We certainly did our best to show him he's a big part of not only our future but also here and now which is what counts for the mostly impatient young starlets nowadays.
I must confess I kinda hoped he'd move. Not for any reason other than to see the reaction in here. Does that make me a bad person?

I do agree completely with this, I was just a little nervous that he was a mere two months away from being able to negoiate with other teams. Everything from both parties in this process was inherently positive and both parties seemed level headed
I think people over reacted because of not only Pogba, but also Fryers and Morrison. With the last two it's difficult to tell how hard Sir Alex tried to keep them, but it seems like he was willing to give Ravel a contract while also recognizing that a move away from Manchester may have been beneficial
