Adebayor to Spurs (permanent signing)?

City were desperate to get rid, but they've had to subsidize wages before so it's no surprise they were willing to do it again. Great pick up for Spurs, will likely be their best player this season.

I somehow feel Adebayor in his pursuit of making City suffer, have so far made a mess of his career. But i am glad he did so.

That's a great deal for Spurs. 5 million for a player of his caliber is peanuts. And City playing most of his wages makes it even better.

If people cast their minds back to when he signed, we were about to to a tour of South Africa in the summer before the world cup. Garry Cooke in his infinite wisdom decided that to maximise the marketting impact we needed an African super star.

The first target was Eto'o and we got to the point of finalising the move, then he asked for more money so we walked away. Now we had the impending tour and no African super star. So instead we rushed through Adebayor.

I honestly don't think Hughes would have bought him, he's too similar to Tevez in the space he likes to play in. Before Tevez started playing Ade was on fire, but once Tevez cemented his place they couldn't play together. Ultimately Ade had to go and we were stuck with a player we overpaid to rush a deal through.

Doubt we're paying £95k too, that might be Spurs' official line but I doubt it.

Anyone else think he'll just stop bothering now he's not playing for his future anymore?

He does seem to fizzle out at most of the clubs he's been to. I wouldn't be surprised if he does the same at Spurs. I suppose he's worth the risk at 5 mill and subsidised wages.

Why would that happen if he stops bothering at Spurs?
Yeah.. I think this is it for him. I don't see a big club move again unless he really tears it up at Spurs. There is a small case of wishful thinking by Arsenal fans here, they desperately don't want him to play at his fullest at WHL.

Why would that happen if he stops bothering at Spurs?

He had one great season with us, other clubs started showing interest and couldn't be bothered for us any more. I think he loses focus quickly and it wouldn't surprise me if this happened again.

I think he will be great personally. Was he ever considered the best striker at either City or Arsenal?
He will thrive off the fact that he's the star of the team when he's on top form.

Previous form shows he's the kind of player who will rest on his laurels. Now he's secured a deal where he's guaranteed his big cash he will likely switch off. He doesn't have any monetary incentive in order to drive him on... Maybe he has changed though?

Either way a half-arsed Adebayor is already Spurs best option up front.
